Thanks for the update on the **HYBRID...good info guys. As for the release of this phone...I give! WM6 is supposed to be a short blip on the screen before the new OS with the real upgrades comes out, and with the late late release of this phone, that blip will be even shorter. my 730 is doing just fine for now. See you all in 08!

ATT must have renamed the Kaiser to "The Tilt" due to all the VZW customers that went on tilt waiting for the i760 and plan to switch.
If the i760 is delayed again (into October) I will probably go with ATT. I just want a cool new phone to play with that has the core features I want. Plus I don't want to wait another 2 years to get the next one.
Either way this thread has been addicting to read. It is like reality TV.
with all these rumors of further pushbacks on the i760, let's all remain grounded with the word's of mrailing: verizon doesn't owe us anything. they never said anything, released anything or even acknowledged the existence of this phone.
if they never release a suitable upgrade to the i730, so be it. they never promised us they would and we can't hold it against them if they don't. let's just be happy with the first-class network they grace us with and hope the i760 is worth the wait. so please keep your off-topic frustrations, plans to go to at&t or plans to pick up the q9 to yourselves.

oh...i forgot the sarcasm tags.
I happened to walk by a VZW kiosk store at a mall last night on my way into the movie theater. I saw somebody yelling at the salespeople, shaking his 730 in the air. He wanted an upgrade, yelling about NE2. The salespeople told him that they have two scheduled possible replacements, but both keep slipping and they had no idea when they would come out. When I came out of the theater, that same guy was standing in front of the at&t store with an 8525 and had a huge smile on his face... No, VZW owes us nothing (if they want to stay in the business market).

Verizon just announced that it has jumped in bed with Rhapsody and MTV to deliver a new music delivery service. Ars Technica reports that the company will start a large marketing campaign with the Video Music Awards on Sept. 9.
My thinking is that Verizon will also pump up their marketing at that time because they are the exclusive mobile carrier for Rhapsody America. I realize that the MTV market is not the smart phone market, but might Verizon use this publicity to launch a new smartphone?...(advertised to the MTV crowd as "a phone with a slider that is great for texting!" /sarc)
Excellent observation. Yes VZW will have a smartphone to use with this new service. Take a look at the new Q9m and its optional flash multimedia interface featuring all of VZW's VCAST and other services. Apparently VZW wants the Q9m to be the next step up for enV users. At one point I thought that is what was being done to the i760, but maybe VZW thinks there is too much risk in letting those who might want to "customize" their WM6 touchscreen be the vehicle to promote their multimedia services. Alas, none of this helps us get the i760 any faster I fear.

Everyone, I think the Q9 release is a good thing for us. All along, the message we've been hearing through the grapevine from VZW sources has been that VZW planned to let the iPhone hype die down and then release a flood of new pda devices. I think we all knew that they wouldn't release them all on the same day. Having said that, I think we should take it as a positive sign that the Q9 is released, as I think more pdas will follow. Since we've been hearing for a few weeks now that the i760 will be released before the 6800, I think our time will come soon (i.e. September).

I think it's very relevant to hear what other people are moving to. I don't know alot about other phones putting all my hopes in this one and want to hear about other possibilities should the phone be delayed until 2012....
Not sure we will see the i760 before the XV6800. I just received confirmation that a VZW XV6800 demo is on the way to my business for testing. It would appear that the 6800 would be due soon for release. they ususally ship me demos to test about 2 weeks prior to release.
I just checked and the i760 is not available in the demo pool.

Just got a response and was told that they "hope" to have the i760 in the demo pool soon. I'll let everyone know once it get confirmation of shipment, which comes as soon as it is available. They check evry day to see if they can send.

Ouch. I agree. It's a very strong sign that the 6800 release is imminent. Hopefully, the person on the other end of the line made a mistake and it's really a i760 that they're sending you.
You all are just funny. They will come when they come. Ethan told me the new Q would be out this week (which it is) and that roughly 30 days after the i760 would follow. He said I could post that when the Q was dropped. Motorola requests at least a 30 exclusivity on certain products...
So Ethan said, expect it during the last two weeks of September, provided no other pushes happen.
