I thought they didn't have a release date yet. All the dates we've heard have been very general. It seemed that even internally, there was no specific date.
There was a PP slide that had the i760 coming out in September.
I'm hopping it's released the week of my birthday in Sept.... 21st to be exact.
They usually come out on Tuesday so that would make it September 18th.

A question for those who have gotten their hands on either a dummy or the real thing: The skew of the front keypad seems like it might favor either the right hand or the left for one-handed operation (aka dialing while driving). Did any of you get a sense of which.
Related question: on my lousy Treo 700W, voice dialing doesn't work with bluetooth. Does it on the Samsung devices?
This may all be moot. If the rumors that AT&T will offer a Kaiser without a camera are true, I may have to make the leap. If only they had a decent network in CO...

Knowing Verizon, this means they were unsuccessful at breaking bluetooth sufficiently to disable DUN and A2DP, so they have to go back and disable more stuff on the phone. My NE2 isn't till May, but I was hoping it would be out long enough by then to have had a price drop. Now, I'm just hoping it'll be out by then.
Verizon just announced that it has jumped in bed with Rhapsody and MTV to deliver a new music delivery service. Ars Technica reports that the company will start a large marketing campaign with the Video Music Awards on Sept. 9.
My thinking is that Verizon will also pump up their marketing at that time because they are the exclusive mobile carrier for Rhapsody America. I realize that the MTV market is not the smart phone market, but might Verizon use this publicity to launch a new smartphone?...(advertised to the MTV crowd as "a phone with a slider that is great for texting!" /sarc)

On October 15th I'll make it like vodka and absolutely go for the other network options which by then should have lowered priced pdas.. Unless this i760 magically turns out to have rev a this bad boy should't be more than $150 in terms of been competitively priced when it finally releases in Q4. Otherwise who would pay $350+ for it when the other pdas are stacked better in terms of tech specs.
This is ridiculous!! I've been watching this thread since January after seeing the first photos of the i760. I am a non-PDA phone user who is looking to upgrade and I thought this was the one. However, if this glorified POS gets delayed anymore I will cancel my plans to switch my family to big red out of protest and opt for something else like the Neo 1973 (openmoko.com) which WILL be out in October. I've been patient with Verizon on this one and was excited about switching to them and about the i760, but I can only wait so long.
............ Yet I did load a ton of software just to see what worked and what did not and what really caused a "major" lock-up and had to do a hard reset.ouch....
Did it lock up? Is that what you are saying and if it did, can you say what caused the major lock up and hard reset?? did it happen alot? that is disconcerting!!
ya know...this release will happen when it happens. I am as frustrated as anyone but all we can do is sit and wait.....here's to hoping it comes out before my birthday...DECEMBER.

I can't provide details because of an NDA but I can say that Verizon has just slipped on its corporate release date with no explanation or new date. This is pathetic. You would think this phone is carved out of one solid diamond for the time it's taking to reach market.
I think diamond would be a "solid" choice...
Seriously, does anyone have insight about the corporate culture over at VZ? Is somebody getting reamed and/or fired over these delays, is it just a "whatever" type of thing, or are they saying "good job find the bug, we won't release until it's perfect"?
For what it's worth ... my rep ... who will remain nameless ... actually ... she hasn't been my rep for a long time ... but I still feel she is ... she's into regional government sales - manager ... big .. really big .. LOL ... anyway ... she told me in April that the I760 was pushed "way" back ... yesterday .. which was the first night of bowling (she still bowls on my team) she told me that they are shooting for an Oct 16th release date ... but that there where some "issues" that still had to be resolved before that could happen ... for what it's worth ... but ... she's been dead nuts on the 700w .... 700wx ... and the Q release dates ... for what its worth ...
