Agreed. I applaud them for all they are trying to do. This is not about them, but rather about the company to which they have developed a certain amount of loyalty. I hope the company does something very soon that earns the right to keep their loyalty. It has lost mine (a customer since the late 1980s with billing over $400 each and every month).

Yes, equus, mrailing, Ethan, and Omie shouldn't feel like they are the targets of any of our frustration!
In fact, you guys rock! Just taking the time to moderate, provide everyone any information at all is amazing to me.

I don't want anyone to feel down because of any frustration vented here!

You are appreciated!

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

I am sure this post will definitely alienate me from this forum for ever, but please somebody here has to think a little logical and stop throwing stones around. I am sure Ethan has the same feelings as I have here, that I wish I could come out and post all the real specs and a release date that has been decided........I cannot, maybe Ethan could since he has more horsepower than I ever will be able to. Yet these days these companies don't look upon "whistle-blowers" compassionately. YES, I donot work for VZW but Ethan does. I do have my reasons as to why I don't like to violate my NDA. I signed a paper in good faith, I don't believe it would be right on my part to violate that trust, does VZW care if I do violate? NO, all that would make is a bad person that no one would trust anymore and I have kept my word all thru my life on promises I have made and I will till...
Equus
Thanks for the update... It seems, and unfortunately so, the nature of a rumor thread is that it will take on a life of its own especially given VZW's policy of not releasing any information until the product is ready to hit the streets. As such, any tidbit of information gleaned from any source is going to generate a excitement, positive or negative. I think there are a lot of people that track this thread that just monitor if for real info. I know I take the information that is released here with just as much of a grain of salt as what VZW sez... its all speculation. In the absence of real info its easy to get wrapped up in the self-generated hype. So whats my point? This is just entertainment until the phone gets released and we can really get to business of it using it. In the meantime we wait for posts with substance from the few sources we have. (Equus, 'Ethan', MRailing... etc)
As to the delays, we're all frustrated having only one source for this phone, so few choices of carriers in general and the amount of time it takes to get these things to market... all subjects of another thread...

this is EXACTLY the problem, especially the "released nothing" part.

like i said before, if you feel VZW doesn't owe YOU anything, cool. they owe ME the opportunity to use my NE2 on a device better than the one I have now. and the clock is ticking. we all have until January to use NE2 or we lose it.

who the hell would enter into a TWO-YEAR agreement without NE2? in this program you sign up for years, maintain a more expensive monthly plan and keep your phone until its outdated for the BENEFIT of saving on an UPGRADE. not just the purchase of a new phone, but an upgrade (their terminology). and mrailing, seriously, if VZW had any viable upgrade options to the i730 you would have already done so. so while you're carrying this company's water with your words, your actions show that you know nothing in their roster suffices on any level, or fulfills their NE2 obligations.

again, i'll link to this. it's very clear: Verizon Wireless

"Now Verizon Wireless has a way to ensure that you'll always have a MORE ADVANCED phone, no matter how technology changes."

"Our New Every Two program can provide you with the LATEST in digital phone technology every two years. And Verizon Wireless is the first company to offer it."

"No matter what the future advancements in mobile communications might be, you'll always have the option to enjoy the latest features available."

i assume those words go for PDA customers as well.

bottom line: you know and i know you will not be happy with the i760 in 2009, probably not even mid-2008. that's for sure. and this will all start again.

KAISER!

This thread is the Release and Rumor thread, so if you want to know about rumors of the SCH-i760 and the release information, then stick to this thread.

If you want to discuss why you don't like Verizon's choice in Business Practices go here:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...practices.html

If you want to be extremely joking about the release and just feel the need to be a "post whore" then post in the Humor thread:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...or-thread.html

If you want to compare the i760 to one of many other devices and discuss why you think one is better than the other go here:

vs. Kaiser
vs. 6800
vs. Q9

If you feel like you have been shafted about the SGH-i760 talk about it here:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...-question.html

If you just want to stare at pretty pictures of the SCH-i760:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...-friendly.html

And if you want to follow all of the threads:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsung-sch-i760/

Equus, it's not you who is alienated, it's VZW. And it's not from promising a new phone and not delivering; it's from promising "unlimited" and then setting limits. And for selling things for exorbitant fees that are readily available for free if your willing to ignore their draconian TOS agreement.

Bottom line, it's just their attitude toward us, their customers (you know; their revenue stream!).

AAARRRRGGHHHHHH!!!!! I'm sooooo tired of the complaining!! We all know that Verizon is more business-minded and not customer minded. There are few large companies that are now a days. But I come here for info on my phone. Yes, the phone I will get when it comes out. We all understand if you and/or your business need to move on. Verizon is not perfect. I don't understand the need to let everyone know that you: are thinking about/planning to/in the process of/or have left Verizon. Unless we know you personally, most of us in this forum don't care much if you're leaving Verizon. Like I said, if you have to move on, so be it. But please try taking the ranting to the other threads. Or at very least, put in bold the info you have on the phone, dummy sightings, etc. to make it easier for those who are staying to find info. Sorry about the rant.
i760 info
I went in to my local Verizon store (downtown Salem, Oregon.) I have talked to the manager a few times about the i760 but hadn't gone in for a while so I decided to see if they had a dummy in. I asked the manager if they had gotten a dummy of the i760. She smiled and playfully said that they had received a box with real and dummy phones in. She then went on to say that it was proprietary information and that she couldn't let me see the dummy (or tell me if she had one!) until Verizon officially announced the phone. I then said "yeah, in September!" She gave me another of those "my lips are sealed" smiles. Has anyone else encountered the "proprietary information" problem? I'm just going to go in later and talk to a rookie

The complaining is better than hearing 27 times, Joe the manager smiled at me and alluded it was coming in Sept....at least I get to hear about other similar phones if the i760 is delayed....

Whay would you even talk to anyone at a retail store. You know they don't know anything by now...

why does everyone who tell these stories tell us how much the reps were smiling and act as if that's a crucial detail? what are they supposed to do, growl? or look at you with a stern face and say we have nothing for you now beat it?

this woman basically showed you nothing and told you nothing....just like VZW. just say that, instead of acting like you have something new or interesting to add.

Well if we only add what is new, then this thread would die since according to VZW, the phone doesn't even exist, and sales rep's are notoriously incorrect and any and all information is suspect. So in essence, EVERYTHING that is relayed to us by anyone is pure speculation and they have still told us "nothing". I sit back and laugh when I read this thread at how upset people are getting. I too am eagerly awaiting for the 760 to come out, but since it isn't out, I can't do anything to make it come out faster, why bitch about the fact that it isn't out? If your 730 died, there is insurance, get a replacement for something that "exists", if no insurance, man up and pay for a new phone that "exists". Coming on here and ranting and raving about VZW this and that isn't going to change anything.

Cheers

Brian

The 700wx was released at the start of the year. We can ignore the 700w because it sucked HARD. But the 700wx is an good device for probably 90% of mobile users. Not so much for us IT users, but for the general mobile business users, it's been a good performer for us.

EDIT: I'm spoiled... we only do year contracts, I don't know if I could use the WX (or any device for that matter.) for two years, so I can totally see the desire to find the perfect device.

Miata, I have not heard of any east coast sightings. I have checked all the stores in the Bristol, VA/TN area and nobody knows anything.

Here is some more news regarding the release months for the Q9, 5800, 6800 and the 760 as well as a few other phones.

Verizon's roadmap for remainder of '07 gets liberated - Engadget Mobile

I have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the i760 when I first saw both the GSM and the CDMA versions back in November of 2006 and have been very frustrated by the fact there has been no word of it's release date until August (and even that is speculative).

I don't post often (and usually not much of the content is usefull) but I have to say something about all the complaining about the NE2 and the lack of new phones.

The list below shows the release dates for all the PDA phones that VZW currently supports.

Samsung i730 - July 2005
Treo 700W - January 2006
PPC 6700 - January 2006
Samsung i830 - January 2006
Treo 700Wx - February 2007

If you look at all of these dates, They are all withing the scope of the NE2 although the i730 was released the earliest, if you take into account the 6 month grace period for use of the NE2, all these phones are right on target for providing us with the "new tech" we were promised every two years (or so).

Also, new tech is a relative term in this case. VZW is clearly using tis term in reference to what equipment they are providing at the time of purchase. In this case, all the tech that is "coming soon" is new (WM6 vs. ppc2003 or WM5, larger amounts of RAM and ROM as well as GIN and VCAST as I am sure they will point out that these were not options on other PPC's).

Please not that I am not saying that all the frustration that has been posted on this thread not understandable but please understand that these are the terms that we all agreed to when we signed on that dotted line 2yrs ago (or longer such as myself who did so in May of '05).
