Its there, I see it as well as all others that already downloaded it.
This gives me real hope for September. Thanks, Omie. Also, I don't see any discernible advantages to the 6800 except for the potential for the Rev A upgrade. They both have the same amount of flash RAM and the 2.0 vs. 1.3 megapixel camera isn't meaningful to me.
Thanks Omie for some real information rather than the endless stream of bs. I hope this really angers VZW. Ironic, isn't it, that a company that tries to promote itself as promoting technology hasn't learned that in the age of information, a business model based on keeping secrets doesn't work.

RAM vs. ROM. RAM is what makes your device slow when you have too little of it. ROM is storage and doesn't really affect the speed of the device like RAM does. i760 has 128 MB of ROM vs. 256 on 6800. Both have the same amount of RAM. I shouldn't have pointed that out on this thread, as it's off topic. It belongs in the i760 vs. 6800 thread. I suggest no further discussion of the matter on this thread.
Amen!!! At least some of you have provider choices, some of us are "stuck" with "The Network" due to region, and contract. I would be all over AT&T I we had them here!
We have all put up with this for so long... I know its tiring to hear these tirades, but its also disheartening to have the carrot dangled just beyond our reach for so long once again...
I can understand your frustration............BUT please lets be fair where fairness counts...........VZW never ever said or posted anywhere that there was a Samsung i760 to replace any device nor did they mention any PPC devices that they were releasing. We ourselves have created this frenzy, we have built up this to a level to a point of no return. Blaming VZW (in my honest opinion) may not be the right tone. I am sure this post will definitely alienate me from this forum for ever, but please somebody here has to think a little logical and stop throwing stones around. I am sure Ethan has the same feelings as I have here, that I wish I could come out and post all the real specs and a release date that has been decided........I cannot, maybe Ethan could since he has more horsepower than I ever will be able to. Yet these days these companies don't look upon "whistle-blowers" compassionately. YES, I donot work for VZW but Ethan does. I do have my reasons as to why I don't like to violate my NDA. I signed a paper in good faith, I don't believe it would be right on my part to violate that trust, does VZW care if I do violate? NO, all that would make is a bad person that no one would trust anymore and I have kept my word all thru my life on promises I have made and I will till...

Did your VZW rep respond to your email request for the i760 manual and EvDO chipset part number?
--BAM
That was a samsung rep I ran into at chilis... he replied over the weekend and said he'd get back to me on monday, but nothing yet. I'll give him a day or two then ill post his contact info here! hehe
his i760 did NOT have the gray outline on it!? I like it better with it...
BBAC = Broadband Access Connect. It's defined later in the document.
I believe LBS must mean Location Based Services, but I'm not positive, as it's not defined. It's listed right alongside video on demand (VOD) and music on demand (MOD) on a lot of the phones, and it said that all handsets would get it first and then pda's (2nd half of 2007). Funny that none of these were listed on the i760 page. Makes you think that either (i) the i760 won't have the GIN stuff or (ii) the document is old.
I wish I could come out and post all the real specs and a release date that has been decided........
Hmmm, reading between the lines on the above quote and seeing Equus' previous post about us being pleasantly surprised when it's released leads me to assume the specs have changed somewhat. The anticipation is killing me. But it hasn't been killing me to the point of looking for dummy units; even though I did think about it. LOL

Equus,
I think that every agrees with you.
However, even if we didnt know about the pending release of these devices two years (+) with no (well limited) upgrade device is a very long time in technology land. We accpect more from our cell service providers other then "It's the network".
You know this will be different when we can start buying our devices direct from the manufacturers.
I am interested on your thoughts on this Equus.
On second thought, you have demonstrated your thoughts by leaving VZW and moving over to AT&T.

Very good post Equus, this is what I have been saying all along. Verizon owes us nothing, they have said nothing, released nothing, and everything we know is "leaked" information
Ethan is a close friend and I am not about to ruin his trust, or hurt his job by saying something he doesn't want me to say. He's a company man (VZW) and he wants to continue to move up and work for them. He has done well with them and plans on being there a long time, especially in the position he's in. He's saying stuff to me because he's a friend and he tells me what and when I can say what he passes on, and he has the same mentality, he loves VZW, and likes to see us drooling for stuff for it.
So for those of you who are getting frustrated, then move carriers, many of us don't care, we just like to see that you are using PDA Phones and HELPING the community. Many of the people posting up here that are "threating" a move are first time posters, or trolls, and a move or threat isn't that big of a deal. I mean nothing by this and I am not pointing fingers, but in a community like this, it's a bigger deal when you have offered a lot to it and contributed to it, and you decide to make a move, like SuperDave going to a different device, Equus, or myself too.
Verizon will release when they feel like it is ready for our use, simple as that, and until the officially announce it on their site, it just plain doesn't exist to them...
I applaud you Equus for sticking to your guns, and not violating your NDA...

Michael, Equus, or Omie,
Can any or all of acknowledge the existence of the different model numbers and/or just share your thoughts as to what they might be. I have heard several guesses on the possibilities none of which can be confirmed, I just wanted to know if the ones in the know, know what there is or is not to know... You know?
Thanks guys for all your hard work and dedication despite the ones who are taking there frustration out on you.

The model code with the S already has the warrenty terms available, and the other doesn't. Maybe the A refers to a second release that has Rev. A? Just a complete guess, and someone may have already posted, figured I try and add something to the discussion and see if anyone knew anything.

Equus and Michael......while I agree that VZW does not necessarily owe us the i760, I have come to the conclusion that not releasing a new PDA device for over a year is irresponsible and neglectful. The flat out truth is that through either direct decision or through circumstance, VZW has put several of their customers in a difficult situation. They need to recognize this and resolve it. Not only that, it would be nice to see some sort of aknowledgement.....if nothing more than a "canned" casual apology via the business reps to the B2B account managers like myself.

I agree. If VZW was not in the PDA market at all, that would be more defendable than saying they are in it and not properly supporting their customers - especially since they keep their shop closed. If we can only buy devices from them that ride on their network, they owe us a lot more than what they are giving. This attitude has helped me decide. I just started the port of my six Verizon lines to at&t. Bye, Bye arrogance.

Really guys, can we quit being such apologists for Verizon?
I never said they owed me anything, or had promised me anything, I just believe that we are starting to really look stupid waiting on devices that should have been out some time ago. Their arrogance of having the best network, and excuse of "exhaustively testing" these devices is a joke.
I am just fed up with waiting forever for technology that will be outdated when released. Some of us have no choice, but to wait wait and wait.
In my region we have no AT&T, T-Mobile, Cingular, here... so I am stuck with Verizon, and I have to live with their limited selection of outdated smartphone/pda phone devices... I could go with Sprint, but thats not a real big step up, their coverage is bad here, and I would have to pay ETF on a few lines for no real advantages.
Everyone knows Verizon is out to make a buck, obviously that is business, and we want them to survive, but the way they nickel and dime, and find every angle to squeeze money out of their subscribers just amazes me more.
Personally I have two lines and spend over $200 a month on them and purchase multiple phones a year on both lines, because we like the latest and greatest, which isn't so "latest" all the time... At work we have about 1000 lines and aircards, which isn't much in the scheme of things, but I think every customer should be counted as important, and that companies like Verizon should reach out and get a feel for what the average consumer wants, likes, and needs. (yes, I am not an average Chocolate user downloading games and ringtones, etc, etc) I feel marketing wins out like usual here...
Please don't feel the need to comment or explain anything, I just wanted to let everyone know where I stood when I feel that some of us are made to look like we are being unreasonable in wanting a nice smart up to date device.
Yes we do get frustrated, and yes this is a forum where we all share the same love for these things...

I also agree. I've stayed away from this discussion because it is off topic for the i760 release/rumor thread, but I have to add my 2 cents now. We have ZERO reason to be frustrated with Verizon for not releasing the i760, but we do have a reason to be frustrated with Verizon for not releasing ANY WM Pocket PC (Professional) phones over the last 20 months. Although they are not technically/legally required to release new WM pda's on a regular basis, I think there is a mutual understanding that when you sign a 2 year agreement with a service provider, that both parties hope to continue that relationship into the future. We continue to pay our bills and continue on with the contract (i.e. we're holding up our end of the bargain), but Verizon isn't holding up their end of the bargain in good faith as there are no new devices available to us. Again, we have no legal standing in demanding the availability of new devices, but I think that customers have every right in the world to expect decent customer service when they're paying $100+ a month to their vendor. In other words, we have every right to be frustrated with Verizon!!!
Having said that, I think this discussion is off topic for this thread AND I think none of us have any right to be frustrated with equus, mrailing, Omie or Ethan. We can only be thankful for them. I don't think anyone on this thread is frustrated with those individuals, but if any one of those individuals feels that, I apologize on behalf of all of us. Those who are frustrated with any of those 4 individuals should be ashamed of themselves.
