VZW Chat log from today Aug. 8th -

Quote:
A Verizon Wireless online pre-sales specialist has joined the chat. You are now chatting with Cassandra
Cassandra: Hello. Thank you for visiting our chat service. May I help you with your order today?
You: My current PDA phone needs replaced, do you have any WM6 phones ?
Cassandra: I am sorry not at this time.
You: when ?
Cassandra: There has not been a set date.
You: do you have any info on upcoming products ?
Cassandra: No we do not.
You: your current PDA selection is well...pretty outdated
Cassandra: That is true. But they have not sent us any new info on any new Pda phones that are coming soon. I am sorry about that.
You: thanks, when do you think I should check back ?
Cassandra: I can send you a link when you can get an email when any new phones are about to come out.
You: that would be great
Cassandra: Okay, hold please.
Cassandra: Cell Phones, Cell Phone Plans, Cell Phone Accessories - Verizon Wireless
Cassandra: Then select email updates to sing up.
You: So under the get email updates, will let me know when new phones come out?
Cassandra: That is correct by email.
You: thank you.
Well I signed up, and then updated my email profile to show PDA phones interest via the update link in the email I recieved.

I wonder where I'll get the news from first ?

-Michael

I just can't talk to Ethan, and again can't go in to reasons why at the present time, or possibly in the future. Anyway, I should hear from him either Thursday or Friday.

Hi Everyone,

Total new guy here. Never had a PDA phone or blackberry before, though feel one would make my life easier in several respects. I have seen the i760 through photo's on line, followed this thread for a while, etc.

Here is my question. I am looking a phone with Email capabilities (send and receive), I would like to be able to store and send work documents (word, PDF, excel), I am also very interested in WiFi capabilities to be able to search the net, etc.

Is the i760 the right phone for these applications? Is it worth waiting for? Am I better off with a blackberry?

I am currently with Sprint, but want to go to Verizon. I am in the NYC area and Verizon seems to have the best coverage here.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Like I said....totally new at this, so please tell me if the i760 is the wrong device for me.

Thank you.

Right device, wrong thread. I would create a new thread in this forum for your question. You will probably get a lot of "it's not out yet so it's hard to tell" answers, though.

tsatryan,

Actually, can knock out this stuff in a NY minute, lol. Managing a construction project that almost couldn't be done w/o the ix30. The least I can do is contribute.

Just researched in the field on this thing the arcane art/science of "masory wall bracing" (NO engineering standards existed for such work until '96!); as a result, convinced a building inspector that a 40x12' brick wall could be braced with triangular supports in lieu of demolition. $aved big money and time...

Thanks, Sammy.

P.S. This op-ed piece, like virtually all of my messages, is mobile. How about you?
Alas another off topic post ... but a milestone that should not be overlooked! It is these off topic posts that bring me to this thread... they breathe life into the joy and frustration we emote as we wait for the next best thing... I just got back from vacation and I couldn't just jump to the last post... I had to read from where I left off... because I wanted the story as it unfolds!

No word of i760 release 6800 must be soon

Just heard from my business rep. I'm getting a 6800 next week to demo. They said still no word on the i760 being available for demo. This must mean that the 6800 will be coming out first.

This is consistent with the spreadsheet that leaked. No date for the 760 and next week for the 8600.

Huh? The i760 is on the same release schedule as the 6800 according to that spreadsheet. Are you looking at something different?

No date next to the i760 on that spreadsheet. That's the key problem and the reason we all continuously refresh this web page.

Did he state any date previously? In other words, most reps say they know nothing. If he previously said nothing and now says September, that's better than nothing, I guess.

I just got a response from mine, he said he "doesn't have any real info, which probably means it's not coming this month". Which is what he said last month about this time.

My own super-insider source just leaked that VZW has actually been using the release of the i760 to conduct a massive social experiment. The premise of the experiment was to discover how long a group of hopeful people would continue to talk about and hype a product with no real evidence that the product was actually going to be released. The source was vague regarding what VZW's motivation for such an experiment would be.

VZW really wants to see how long it can string along a group of its most die-hard users before they jump ship, or announce intentions to do so. it's an experiment to see how much money they have to pump into customer loyalty programs. so far, Big Red has a pretty good retention percentage.
