RU kidding? No sense of style..... Personally, I like having the keyboard in portrait mode. I find it is easier for one hand use. I find that I use that more than wanting to use a keyboard in landscape. I'll sacrifice a keyboard on the outside to max screen space. (But I do want EVDO Rev A.....)

I think I'm gonna be holding out for a long time.. This MicroSD pisses me off. Pick a standard and stay with it, man. Glad I didn't buy a 8GB SD.

Amen, abuttino! The damn SD card hardly takes up any space and the smaller ones are damn hard to hold onto and swap out! I can almost see why they would do it for a plain old cell phone, but for a PPC (Pocket Personal COMPUTER!)??????

colordiva,

Worse than costly and inconvenient for users of the SD (or even miniSD) format, microSD cards aren't really meant to be swapped in and out. Over a period of time, they won't withstand the physical stress of active usage.

microSD cards really don't belong in PPCs.

Since very few people have had a chance to try the Pantech yet, do you have any other impresssions that you could share? Any idea if tethering via either USB or Bluetooth is enabled? What about memory allocation/processeor speed? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ths 760 is a redesigned, though not much, 730 with some added features. The form factor is good, but not that great that never changing it is the way to go. Boring, I fi am going to spend the price for new, I want something new...I want a step up from what I have, a big step up! I want more screenestate, even more than a camera, and more than a keypad on any porton of the exterior of the phone. What is the deal with that thing...green button, slide dial...I have big hands, and it is not really that hard! Losing screenestate for that...my head shakes! And the flip phone, smartphone, no touchscreen, smaller smaller screen....no
I have not fully ruled out the 760, but if I had been a treo user from 600 to 650 too 700 I would have said enough already...make a change here...You guys can't improve anything about the form factor except to screw with the disk slot size. This is how I am starting to feel with the Sammy line, Even HTCs line...Have they run out of ideas like hollywood has for movie plots already?
my rant is over...

Actually I find the Samsung i730 to be one of the best designs. The screen size is fine, and if it's bigger, than means the device is bigger, and I would prefer something thinner. The physical size of the rest of the device is fine, but if they could cut the thickness to at least 2/3 the size of the i730, then I would be happy. I prefer the portrait keyboard, as I hate turning the device to have to use a keyboard, especially when I am on a call with someone. Also I do have big hands, but the landscape keyboard is too big, as you have to move your hands too much, but with the portrait keyboard, you have little thumb movement and I can type fairly quick (35+ wpm).

Personally if Samsung released another update to the i730 fixing the small issues with it I would be happy, and if the 760 came out with those issues fixed, was thinner, and had a camera, then I am jumping on it without even thinking, even if it was $700 out the door. Heck I wouldn't care about the memory card in that situation, just want something smaller and more easily portable...

I'm with you, Michael, 'cept I can't have a camera in it (work related stuff ya know). I don't care 'that' much about the different size card, just so I can have AT LEAST a 4G in it (heh). Geez, I'm running an 8G flash (thumb drive for my laptop) & I can tell I'm wanting to move to the next jump in ~6months (so much 'junk', 'stuff', updates, betas, etc, plus a few mp3s as well). Oh yea: Just got my wife a Lenovo (IBM) x41 TabletPC & am setting that up for her now. More 'toys'. She's a happy camper (and that's a good thing).

Way OT, DWIM, but curious as to how your wife will use a tablet PC vs. a conventional config.

Haven't quite figured out where these fit in. Thanks.

Here ya go, mrailing...

SCH-i730 vs SGH-760
Comparative Physical Specs

SCH-i730
Source: Samsung Web site
Size: 4.53" x 2.28" x 0.94"
Weight: 6.4 oz

SGH-i760 for GSM
Source:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=660
(converted from metric units posted)
Size: 4.57" x 2.32" x 0.748"
Weight: 4.198 oz

Thus, vs. the current i730, the i760 is 0.04" longer, 0.04" narrower, and 0.192" (20.4%) thinner. The i760 is also 2.2 oz (34.4%) lighter--presumably, with standard battery in each case.

(Note: If a CDMA version of the SGH-i760 appears, specs are subject to change.)

Be fine with me, now they just need to release a CDMA version. When a new Pocket PC comes along with Verizon I am changing. I can change from the i730 at any time now, so it's just a matter as to when they get a "decent" replacement device. But I will see when they released stuff, as rumors with Verizon mean nothing until they actually put something out.

I'd still rather have a quad-band i770.

The Chinese version looks "sweet," besides the fact that it doesn't have the sure-type keyboard that the US version is supposed to have.

I'm with you guys. Since I bought my i730 a little more than a year ago, I've probably dropped $300 or more on SD cards. In fact, I just picked up a 4GB a a couple of months ago. I can understand using microSD cards in conventional cell phones (like my wife's Moto E815), but I don't understand why a PocketPC needs a card that's smaller than my thumbnail. At some point, smaller is NOT better.
