Well, I think our biz rep is clueless. If it is 30 days, then I am getting the 6800 and switch (maybe) to the Samsung when it comes out.
That way, I can try both.
FWIW, I called VZW twice yesterday while I was (and still am) trying what to do about my inoperable i730. I specifically asked both reps whether I had 14 days to try out a phone; both told me, "no, you have 30 days."
If I cannot bring my i730 back to life in another day or two, I'll probably order a PN-820 as a temporary replacement and hope that the i760 is released before the 30 days is up. If the i760 is not released by then, I might have to return the PN-820 and try out the 6800.
Edit: I forgot to mention that, not suprisingly, neither rep knew anything about the i760 (or at least both denied any knowledge of the i760).

so... your buddy has the i760 in the store but its not coming out til the "end of the month of the beginning of september"??? sure!!!
im sure in the history of vzw there has never been a handset given to the store almost a month before it is supposedly coming out...

Spoke with an associate on the phone and told them I was looking for a PDA phone. They said they were looking for one too, and were waiting for a new phone that was going to be out soon, but they couldn't tell me when, except that it would be out by the end of Sept. It seems that there is a firm date, but they couldn't tell me.
I understood that it might be earlier in the month, but definitely during September, and not August.
There are apperently many good phones coming out in Sept...PDA types and non-PDA types.
OK, I guess I'll wait...some more...
The good news is that there seems to be a definite date, that the rank & file folks know what that date is, and that it is next month, not the end of the year.
Would take a store reps information about as far as I can spit into the wind on windy day... Thursday went into my local store in midtown NYC to get my daughter a phone (SCH-u740), they of course had no knowledge or information about the SCH-i760. Friday went back to return my daughters phone, to which they where disappointed. Further, I offered to cancel all of my VZW lines of service if the rep could not give me some firm reason to stay (impending release of a i760). Got myself an iPhone and 2 BB Perls now... Guess they really don't know poop...
Ugh, no one has called me back regarding WHAT released last Friday. I know now that it wasn't the i760 but I don't know if I have the patience to wait for the i760 to release. My i730 is already on it's last leg, I have to restart it every hour or so to keep it from freezing when I receive a text message or a phone call. D:

Since they would be the only i760's in public right now, as far as VZW legal/marketing knows (Gchat not 10 minutes ago)
