If this turns out to be true, I leave VZW. There is no reasonable excuse for something taking this long to come out with the exception of horrendous product management. I have a Kaiser on pre-order and will have it on Aug. 23. If the 760 or 6800 are not available by that time, I have no reason to hang around to take additional vendor abuse.

Michael, you are extremely patient and very helpful. I applaud all the work you are doing on our behalf. But when the vendor does not want to communicate with its customers in a formal way, I am forced to question their business ethics.

I really do not understand verizon. Can anyone give a rational explaination as to why they push phones that are coming out in december in the same breath that they are evasive about an imminent release of the phone you ask about. What is it about the I760 and the 6800 that prevents them from communicating with their customers?

Has anyone ever heard:
The I760? Oh its a great phone and we're trying to get it out by 11/07 but we may have it earlier. Just call me anytime and I'll give you our latest update.

Instead all we hear is:
The I760? Actually most people won't be happy with the iPhone. Blah blah blah.

How did you pre-order a Kaiser?

Go to the Kaiser discussion forum and there are several places listed. It is out bounds for this thread. I appologize for even bringing it up. The site you should be using for Kaiser is: Kaiser - xda-developers

If they launch this phone before they launch the i760 or the 6800, I will be really disappointed (more than I am now) in VZW.

The lack of wi-fi kills me on the 5800. The one thing I noticed is no Verizon branding. Also, doesn't the keys look pretty cheap and plasticy (sp?)?

Not only that but is not able to accept input using a stylus as I beleive that this dvice is running WM6 Standard, not Pro.

What is VZW doing here?

Here is the info on the VOX. It uses a really pathetic cpu. XDADeveloperWiki - HTC_Vox I do not think it really competes with either the 6800 or the i760. But if it comes out before the i760, that would put VZW even into a worse position as far as business phone availability than it already is. I could see it for college kids, but with the slow processor, they will probably not be thrilled with it. Hurry up and release the i760. There are no more excuses acceptable.

Man I wish Verizon would just hurry up and confirm a date.

My next guess was that due to his absence, he was in jail and typed out that one last message while the Feds were busting down his door!

After the panic inducing "I have bad news" post, I walked over to the local VZW and began talking to one of the sales reps on the floor (his id had the word MANAGER under his name).

He assured me that the i760 would definitely be released in August but a specific date would not fall from his lips.

We also started to discuss the issue of slow release dates for the VZW phones and he immediately launched into the "NETWORK" speach. I then reminded him that AT&T is right on their heels and has probably surpassed them in some areas. I also pointed out that several people probably jumped ship to AT&T for the iPhone and will probably do so when the Kaiser is released. he stated that the people who jumped are probably tech junkies who don't care about the networks they are on such as T-Mobile and Sprint.

I just don't get the issue here? We should all start a fund in order to have all VZW management's collective head removed from their BUM!

Correction - We should start a fund so we could all pay the ETF and say goodbye.

I wonder if someone here with some pull can put together a quick petition to VZW execs informing them that while their network might be slightly superior, using it as an excuse for their inferior devices is not acceptable. I would definitely sign it. If VZW wants a loyal following from business users they need to get their collective heads out of their arses and realize that we demand not only a great network, but great communication devices as well.

Unless VZW's bottom line turns south, they will not listen to anyone. They think they are doing everything right because their short-term bottom line says they are. Let us see if they change their focus in the next 24 months if AT&T succeeds in eating into VZW's profits. It will be even more interesting if VZW can see that their pipeline is being eroded. I doubt they will notice for quite a while. So what will a petition do? Not a thing!!!!!

I heard the same bad news today as well. We are a long way from release on any of these devices. I cannot imagine what the heck they are failing on.
