Not sure, but I think it means we August celebrants will be getting a birthday present this month. The question could also be, who will be celebrating a birthday when the phone is released? Since my BD is the 27th, I would rather not get it on my birthday, because I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!!
Mine is the 27th too ... but at the risk of getting lynched .. my rep is saying 1st week of Sept ... she's actually a bowling team member ... not my rep anymore ... but she can get me anything I want ... hehehe ...

Pretty close. A couple of members here have delayed their birthday until the i760 was released. A pretty good fountian of youth these guys have found.
I believe I'm the member whose birthday has been delayed the longest. If the i760 would have been released when first expected, back in April or May of this year, I would have turned 40 in early May. However, thanks to VZW and the i760's delay, I've been able to avoid becoming over the hill for almost 3 months now! When i760 is finally released, you all can join me for a piece of birthday cake.
(Thanks, Pastor Tim, for the photo!)

I think it's funny that we have seen the "verizon photo" that says mentions an August release, heard from Ethan, and others, and we still hear later, and in to September. Sure it can change, but I just think it's funny.
Personally I think some of those people are guessing, and just giving a good "long shot" date, so they can look better when they say "Hey guess what, we got it out early..."
I hope everyone gets to celebrate their birthday LONG before the end of the month...

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but is there a chance some i7xx loyalists will be disappointed with the actual i760 device?
For my part, sure, will get one, But to tell the truth, it could end up as a backup.
From the beginning of the SCH-i760 saga, have lacked confidence in this "lite" handset. Hope I'm wrong.

P.S. Visions of a useless stylus, a slow CPU, limited RAM and VZW bloatware...
Yo BAM.. I hear ya.. Spec-wise it just never felt (here I am speaking in past tense about a phone not yet released) like it was a worthy upgrade to the i730. the I730 broke so much new ground that we all figure the i760 would do the same. and the bloatware.. I think the term I heard earlier in the thread that I liked was "Verizonize." I'm sure we'll get that exorcized! We shall see..

Michael, Omie (MrDude) has posted that he has some "bad news" on HOFO very late last night.....and then didn't elaborate. Heard anything from Ethan?
I think he's jerking our chain, but thought I'd ask since we haven't had an Ethan update lately. I'm particularly interested to see if he has a comment on the flyer posting.
Unfortunately, when the information gets stale, this is what happens. Silence is the biggest killer of all.

Got a copy of what he posted or a link? Ethan is "unavailable" at the moment, and I can't go in to detail why...

You would think VZW had some sort of competative leapfrog going on with this announcement. They are actually announcing year old technolgy and still cannot make a delivery date public. I have to tell you, to me they look totally foolish and out of control as a company.

They look foolish to everybody in the world. If AT&T releases the Kaiser before the i760 and 6800, Verizon is going to be in for one huge dissapointment.
<grain of salt>
after speaking with a VZW rep yesterday, he mentioned that the 6800 was delayed until Sep. When I asked about the i760 he just smiled and said, "you'll be happy soon enough". The he started rattling on about the CDMA Blackberry Perl that's coming to VZW ~ Dec (i tuned out because I don't care about the perl ).

If you will be happy soon with the i760, and the 6800 coming in September, than why in the world would you care about a crapberry that comes in Dec? But what does soon mean? Soon is relative beased on sense of urgency.

I don't think Ethan is purposely misleading you (not the least of reasons because you are friends), but in the same respect I don't think other people's friends and reps are purposely misleading them. How many times has Ethan been wrong with the date? How many times has everyone been wrong with the date? Even with the photo (which has the i760 as the only device without a firm release time-frame), I don't think any knows when the phone is going to be released for sure until it is in someone's hands, but that doesn't mean that some reps and Verizon contacts are "guessing", it may just mean that their most current information is fresher that someone else's.
In other news, my VZW guy (old teammate from school, not my rep), emailed me back yesterday saying that the i760 (I'm paraphrasing because he sent it off his VZW email)
"Looks like it is going to miss August, and I have no idea why. We really wanted to start putting out information on it for the back-to-schoolers while the kids are still home with parents. It's not legal or marketing, but I thought they had all the hardware kinks handled. We are going to be working the new Q pretty hard. I got a demo for last weekend and it's head-and-shoulders over my old Q." and then some cracks about the irony of my hand/paw size and my affinity for touchscreen phones.
