Anybody hear anything else? There is nothing on HOFO and the rest of the web is useless as nobody is as informed as these two locations (pdaphonehome and howardforums).

I have been waiting for this phone since it was first revealed back in November/December of 2006 and am getting so excited about the impending release I think my head will explode.
Mine head already did. I am beginning to think these phones are simply props to keep people interested in VZW. They will never come out and VZW will continue to roll over us at will.

I don't think anyone has lost sight of the release date. The last word I got from Ethan (and I am repeating this for the fourth time), is that we "should" see it released by August 23.

The document we saw in the last couple of days at HoFo and here shows a "August" as a release for both the 6800 and i760, so this piggybacks on what Ethan said, and what a couple of others are reporting. Today is the first day of August, and you aren't seeing anything because there is nothing to see.

In the past the same things happen. We hear one of two bits of information and then nothing for a few days, then something else. Usually a week or so before the release we start hearing confirmations of the release date and start seeing some internal information show up.

Verizon has two ways to release devices, the "We caught you with your pants down, here is the device", and the "Hey look what we got coming soon". We still don't know which way this device is going to get released, whether Verizon will just put it up on the sight for sale, or announce it ahead of time. Ethan hinted that it might be "announced" ahead of time, but didn't come out and say anything about that, just that "we should hear something about it during the first week of August", and whether that was today through 4th, or the first full week of 5-11 I don't know.

So it's a wait and see, hear a little bit, drool over it, and wait some more.

I wonder why they posted that blurry cam pic instead of the clear ones posted here and at HOFO? Sometimes I think Engadget does things like that to make things appear more "secret" than they really are.

O ok, I sent it to them way before I actually posted it on HoFo. I thought you were trying to say you had the original document. No hard feelings though, I was just trying to clarify things.

This sweet Samsung i760 has been delayed so many times that Verizon does not know anymore who to point fingers at. But then again is there anyone else to blame other than Verizon - I think not!

to whoever will celebrate this month.

Not sure, but I think it means we August celebrants will be getting a birthday present this month. The question could also be, who will be celebrating a birthday when the phone is released? Since my BD is the 27th, I would rather not get it on my birthday, because I WANT IT NOW!!!!!!!

Will be celebrating on 8/5 - doesn't look too likely for me...

Pretty close. A couple of members here have delayed their birthday until the i760 was released. A pretty good fountian of youth these guys have found.

Don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but is there a chance some i7xx loyalists will be disappointed with the actual i760 device?

For my part, sure, will get one. But to tell the truth, it could end up as a backup.

From the beginning of the SCH-i760 saga, have lacked confidence in this "lite" handset. Hope I'm wrong.

P.S. Visions of a useless stylus, a slow CPU, limited RAM and VZW bloatware...

What is VZW's return policy? I'm sure if it's a dud, we'd know it before the return period expired, right?
