I was happy to see that the i760 seems to have a little LED like the Treos do. When I tried the Q for a while, that was one of the things I missed most. I hate setting my phone to beep every so often to alert me of missed events, kind of annoying to other people when I'm away from my phone. And I don't like having to turn on my device to see if I missed anything. On the Treo you can make the LED flash at a different speed to alert you of a missed event. Here's hoping the LED on the i760 can be used for that purpose too!
He is saying that it will be as thin as a Razar? No way.
Mark those pictures on the Chinese website a few pages back show it next to a blackjack, and it's not much thicker than it. Maybe half again as much. Seeing those pictures really shows the size of it, and the overall dimensions are really reduced compared to the i730.

Mark, that Chinese website takes so long to load, so I pulled the images and am reposting a few of them here. The original website gets credit for these, I am just posting theme here so everyone can see them a bit easier...

Hate to be "johnny raincloud" here ... but ... My rep ... who just happens to bowl on my company bowling team with me ... told me Monday night that she had received an email stating the the I760's release date has been "pushed back" ... imagine that ... a new verizon phone with lots of rummors about release dates ... go figure ... she normally wouldn't tell me about it at all ... but I've been driving her crazzy trying to figure out what's going on with the 700wx (all she knows is that there is software issues on the VZ network, but they are getting close???) ... anyway ... thought I'd throw that out for what's it's worth ... no details ... just that the I760 release date has been pushed back ... sorry ... but thought you'd like to know ... she's some kind of district big wig ... my gal pals her best buddy ... so ... she asked this gal to bowl with us ... she did and since then has been taking care of my company's account ... good deal ... so far she's been pretty savy on phone release info ... she got the black Q and the various chocolate's right .. for what that's worth ...

Deja Vu all over again. To be exact, 2005
If we recap 2005, rumors started in January, then March, with an ultimate release of mid July. It was 6 anguishing months to which, I am not getting my hopes up until June-ish.

It's no use, I can't stop thinking about it. I retract my last post. I need more i760 pr0n!
Adding a little fuel to the fire: The link below discusses a Verizon air card (USB 720) and suggests it will be released online on 2/1 and a couple of weeks later at retail locations. If you go back to the first link in this post (the one that started the frenzy), you'll see that the internal Verizon document indicated that the USB 720 would be released on 1/29. Further proof that there may be some validity to that document. Does that mean that the i760 release date on that document is accurate? Probably not, but it does give us hope....
Would be great... but I have a hard time believing ANY device running Crossbow will be released before Q3 of 2007. At least not in Q1. There would have been rumors of other Crossbow based devices as well.

They wouldn't let anyone turn it on at CES because it already had crossbow loaded on it. Engadget tested it with crossbow, and from what I have "heard" Microsoft wants this to be the first Crossbow OS device to be released, and wants it out very soon after fully announcing the OS.

I think we are all kidding ourselves. Have we not learn from the past?
Let's recap:
Waiting for the i700
Waiting for the i700 O/S update
Waiting for the i730
Waiting for the i730 O/S update
Do we not learn from the past? We have screwed by Verizon 4 times. With the exception of the Treo 700W (which was speedy), everything goes through that stupid QA step that takes forever. If I wish for 1 job in this world, it would be a QA engineer. Deadlines do not exist there. I think the theme there is "Anyday now, anyday."
So folks, enjoy it. I know it will come out, but we are living in Disneyland (to be precise, Fantasyland) if you think we will see this thing before summer. Further, at CES 2005, at least it was able to be turned on. What makes Crossbow so special? Isn't it essentially WM5SE or did I miss that post?

It's the fact that Microsoft hasn't had their "official" release of Crossbow. Once they announce it, then publicly devices will be able to display it.
I agree waiting sucks.
Actually I love my job and what I do, and the fact I might be getting a full time position for one of my clients for half again as much money as I am making now. I am talking to the owner of the company tomorrow, but I had an offer to close my business and work for him full time, so negotiations are in the process of working themselves out, and if not, I still have a successful company, so either way it works.
The one job (ability) I want is a tester for Verizon with their PDA Phones. Just give me the newest latest phone they want tested, and I will put it through it's paces. If I have to return it when I am done, no big deal, as long as I have one in my possession. I have said it for a long time now, Verizon is missing out by not trolling these forums, finding the "smart" people and putting a device in their hands and getting feedback on the software and the "items" they killed in the software.
Really, here is how it would go (in case Verizon is trolling). Find someone like me (and hey I could mention a half dozen more people), and get a new device in our hands for real world testing and putting it through it's paces. Let us write up weekly, or bi-monthly reports and turn them in. Reporting bugs, problems, speed issues, incompatibility, etc. If we don't do the reports or have nothing to report, let us buy the device at the end of the test. If we do report and help with the device, give us the device for free as payment for our help, and then move on to the next device and repeat the cycle each 6 months or year, depending on when the devices come out. If we fail to react with them or provide the feedback (even a forum could be created someplace to provide feedback), then dump those people from the program and grab new ones. Keep an eye on the forums all over the web, and when you have problems with people, dump them from the program. You have nothing to lose, and everything to gain, and you will have a stable and fully functional device that is 10 times better than Sprint, Cingular, and T-Mobile.
OK enough ranting. I want an i760, and am ready to start using it, bring it on Verizon, bring it on...

I agree, but Verizon is far to brick and mortar, to old school, just to big to ever consider that. You're descrbing open-source hardware, and it would be the best solution if your goal was to provide the best possible device to the consumer. Alas, this is not Verizon's goal. Verizon's business model, when it comes to hardware at least, is to limit competition. Sign exclusivity deals with hardware manufactures so that, if you want the i760, you have to have Verizon. Period. Their testing ensures the least amount of tech support calls, not the most functional device. If that means crippling features and dumbing down the device, than so be it.
