I was interested too, but my guess is that it is a boilerplate warranty covering some old gamepad a la :Samsung A660 Attachable Game Pad at MobileCityOnline.com
which was circa 03 i believe. I guess there is always hoping for some multiple button presses or a game pad.
oh how interesting! i have never seen one of those.
also interesting that it seems to be included with the phone and covered under the basic warranty.
is this perhaps a tie in to the (possible) upgrade to REV A - i.e. marketing unlimited data and REV A speeds for the purposes of some sort of online game playing a la X-Box live? i know, i'm reeeaally stretching the realm of possibility, but heck, why not speculate? *lol*
Geckotek - "Obviously Game Pad is a separately warrantied item so it can't just be the nav dial..."
Why do you say, "Obviously"? Are you sure of this?
I think he said "obviously" because the warranty item list contains both "phone" and "game pad" so it would be redundant...i was looking through the other phones on Samsung's website and it seems as if the warranty list and the other info, pertaining to misuse that is not covered under warranty, is a generic statement that Samsung makes for all of its products. For example, there was a "game pad" listed in the i730 warranty list.
I searched on Google and there is actually a game pad that Samsung was selling to go with a flip phone that they designed for Sprint. With all that said, I think the "game pad" item is just a part of the standard warranty info for Samsung products.
Crap, I am late again, hopefully I can type faster than this on my i760, I might not even need Rev A.....

I tend to agree with you. I am not sure we can glean anything from this. It could be something seperate, but then again, it might not be.
I was thinking that maybe it is an entire PS3 that they include in the box to help Sony get marketshare! LOL

i'm going to venture a guess that - in keeping with some of the other features of the phone that seem to point to a more consumer oriented marketing approach (GIN, etc) - the "game pad" is a reference to the circular navigation dial on the front of the phone.
"game pad" makes the phone sound a lot more fun than "navigation dial"
Samsung actually makes a game pad that their consumer phones slip into that looks very much like a funky console type controller. It will be interesting to see if the i760 has a supported device such as this.
While my primary use of this device is email etc, this is a toy that I would consider purchasing if I thought that there was some value to me there.

If that is true, then it makes sense that there is a proprietary interface plug on the base of the unit instead of a standard USB interconnection.

Because it's obviously a list of separate items/accessories.

I agree, this is more like a boilerplate warranty statement and the game pad is NOT for the i760.
Man, you guys are really reaching... There is no addon gamepad for the i760, nor is there one built in, just the d-pad. That warranty was wrote up with the same wording as the i730, and gamepad = 5 way Dpad...

Ahh, good point, I hadn't even noticed that...I guess the reluctance to switch over to the standard of USB connection for all products is due to the fact that Samsung would have to give up their grip on all Samsung products being reliant on other Samsung products...I guess Samsung and VZW are a match made in heaven.....

I like how both you and Geckotek are equally sure you are right and you both have different outcomes. But I realized by reading your posts that I have to be wrong about the PS3. Since it is a M$ OS, it has to be an XBOX. LOL

I agree and disagree.
It's obviously a list of separate accessory items. SO it's not the 5 way d-pad. Why would it have a warranty listed separate from the phone? If that were the case, why not list each of the 9 buttons on the face? Makes no sense.
It is the Game Pad for other phones an is just listed generically. That's it.

Hey, now that is much more probable!
I have a feeling all the fun speculation will be over in two weeks anyhow...
Coming Soon info will probably be posted this week, as soon as tomorrow, and then B2B by 15th, with website and retail by Sept. 1st...
I dont know how reliable this source is, but I think that it is interesting that the i760 isnt being presented as a phone with VCast. The other phones are shown as having "VCast Mobile TV" and "Bluetooth Stereo", and all the i760 has is the same specs that I heard about from CES back in January.....Excellent find though, I cant even find the i760 forum over there...

Geckotek - the i730 had the same gamepad listed, and there was never any gamepad released for that either...
Anyhow, nice post from Hofo!
This is exactly what I mean. The gamepad is listed on all the phones because it is boilerplate...meaning even if the phone would or would not use the gamepad, they make the same blanket warranty statement that includes the mention of a gamepad for all phones.
He appears to be some sort of VZW employee. Some of the screen shots of VZW stock items have been from him. He also seems to have just a wealth of information on VZW phones in general if you look up his posts on HOFO.

Oh, if he is the one who had pics of the phone charger packaged and ready for sale, this must be quality info...never doubted you for a moment, just staying on my toes
Rolling change, meaning if the "testing" doesnt cut it then goes back for more testing. haha

I don't recall, that may have been VZWChick. He posted pics of spreadsheets showing qty of stock. He's one of 2 guys that's been giving screen shots....although his were blurry.
I asked what he did for VZW and he replied "nothing."
