Mrailing, do you know if Aug 23 is b2b? online? retail?
I don't know, that was pretty much his exact words... I didn't stay on the phone very long.

Ok, Ethan woke me up this morning on his way in to work. He said we should actually hear/see something from Verizon by August 9 in terms of a potential announcement that the product exists and to start to build some hype. He said that the device should be available for purchase no later than August 23, but wouldn't tell me an exact date. I am going back to bed, got called for a support issue and was up till 5 AM, need more sleep.
Considering the fact that Ethan and the Samsung rep that Inked Assassin spoke to are both knowledgeable people, and their info is lining up, these August dates must be correct. A couple of months ago, somebody said that VZW was going to release this phone around back-to-school time. Back then I never would have believed it. I guess all I need to know now is whether August 23 is the B2B or the retail date, because I have a feeling that I am going to have to slide tackle some teenyboppers on school shopping detail to get to my i760.
1) i760 Pricing (frenchie, allgoodpeople and others): Surprisingly, the question of pricing has come up infrequently in this thread of 3,500+ posts (perhaps the second longest in PDAPhH history). We have no pricing intel on the i760 whatsoever and one reason is this: VZW will make the final call in the eleventh hour.
Thank you for clarifying this. I was having panic attacks that it will kill me in the wallet. I'm up for NE2 so this will be a great price for me

Thanks for the update, Michael (and thank Ethan for us). It's definitely shaping up as though I'll be celebrating my birthday the same time my kids are celebrating theirs. Better tell my wife to order a larger cake. :

Got a couple of more hours, still tired. Those dates aren't release dates, as I mentioned, he didn't tell me those, but said should be out BY those dates...
Ethan was short on the phone, but said "At least by the end of August I can quit hearing about the i760 release." He again said, this is what should happen...

but give it till december when we hear about the i790 and it can start all over again
MRailing, Thanks for sacrificing sleep to bring us quick news. It better be soon or I am going to have to update my bookmark for this thread. I had set it for page "180" thinking that would be plenty sufficient when we were still at about 120 or so. So much for that hope.
Unless it's cleverly hidden, they're wrong. There's more than enough pics out there of the 760 to confirm that there's no IR on it.

So, this is a strange feeling from me, but I think I'm going to skip this one. My excitement level has died over the last six weeks or so, and I'm not terribly impressed by the i760 anymore. Had it been released in January, it would have been a terrific pdaphone, but now ... eh.
It's definately one of the best choices for people who need to be on Verizon, but as a company (both service and devices) my dissatisfaction with them has become ... pretty high. They won my business with the i600, and kept me with the i760 and great EVDO, but at this point, their data network (while still probably the best) isn't leading their competitors by much, and the prosumer devices they are releasing are becoming routinely delayed to the point of near-obsolence.
I'll probably try to hold on to the i730 until a fantastic WinMo (Kaiser?) comes out on AT&T, or a 3G iPhone comes out. I realize that it's not something anyone here cares about, nor something that Verizon executives will cry themselves to sleep over, but I can't be the only one with these thoughts--some of whom may be the big account holders we've heard from already.
At the same time, I'm hoping there is some sort of revolution brewing in regulatory circles (ala the Google spectrum bid, or the other changes we've heard about.) For the moment though, it just sucks to be a consumer.

Ditto to that! I'm think I am waiting for better specs...and probably a different wireless provider.
I really don't see what the differnce is to the Kaiser to the xv6700 to the Wing. Tey are are the same phone - Sammy at least keeps it fresh - even though the inards aren't quite so.
I guess I am not in the same boat as kwickone and aaustin. I mean, yeah, I have been hyped by this phone (i760) when I first heard about it and with the info from Ethan (though I am getting a little discouraged), but I don't think I am going to jump ship. I haven't had that bad of a experience with them. Now, when I was with AT&T and T-Mobile, we are talking Night and Day. But that is getting off topic.
I again, like the silly monkey that I am, went into the local VZW store and asked and got the same run around "Not sure."
Hope it will be soon. Has anyone heard from the good Pastor?
I've been telling my roommate to wait for the i760 instead of the 700wx. I'm starting to wonder if I need to reverse course. This delay stuff is for the birds!
