I think that post meant that Wi-Fi and the regular phone network could not be used simultaneously.
This is a classic case of phone companies crippling phones (exactly what Congress is talking about) on purpose. I remember back when I first got my i730 two years ago and mrailing and others gave a way to enable them (wifi & phone) to work at the same time.
I hope they do fix the BT stack for you. It seems that my 6800 has a horrible BT stack and causes alot of fluctuations in the volume for people on the other end. This could be the hold up.
I have to say originally I was annoyed by the disabled. Then I got it back, then I stopped using WiFi altogether as the CDMA network is better than using WiFI in my opinion, people just want WiFi because they are cheap. I get it. it's OK do not flame me.
I agree that the EVDO is fast enough for my uses. The only time i use wifi ever is when im in class and not paying attention to the professor.

WIFi was originally disabled if the phone's wireless was turned on, so that they would not work simultaneously on the i730 and 6700, but was subsequently enabled in later ROMS, especially when Windows Mobile 5 was released. If there is even WiFi on the device I believe there is) I have no doubt that it will be enabled, or at the very least that some intrepid person will enable it

BTW. I am a super long time lurker I just don't usually have time to post nor feel the need. I will say that I recently got hands on time with the i760. It belongs to a Samsung rep who's Cust is VZW. The device was working flawlessly. Honestly it was the easiest to use pda I have seen in a long time. I forgot to ask if the thing had a Universal remote built ini or not. I always loved that feature on my 730. The rep seemed kind of Ticked with VZW for the delays. The phone features where very easy to use. I think the Send and End buttons will take a little getting used to, but not much.
All the info I have heard says by the end of August. THere is absolutley no internal info to be found. So whatever is out there for Marketing or whomever they are keeping it close to their chests. I do know that this device will be released.
P.S. and very off topic. I did see a super top secret picture of an iPhone killer. The goal is to have it early, early in 08.
A previous post a couple pages back asked about tentative prices for the i760. I didn't see any responses. Anyone have any guesses what this will go for once it is released?

It's pretty funny that you had your hands on your prize and one of your biggest regrets was not figuring out if it had the remote control software. I think you can buy 3rd party software for a pretty low price, but if this device doesn't have infrared (it's rumored that it doesn't), then the 3rd party software will be useless.
By the way, thank you for sharing your experience. In all the posts where I've read about hands on use of the i760, no one seems disappointed. It sounds like this will be a very pleasant device to own.
I agree that it was silly of me to forget to ask about the remote. I only got to play with it for a few minutes. It was very rushed. I threatened the rep that if he turned his back his device was gone... I used to be in the UFTG, but not any more. In the area where I am only data folks get to test the data devices any way.
Curently on my i730 I can stream music via wi-fi and when a call comes in my streaming stops and I can take the call. After I hang up the straming starts again.
Is this how it will still work on the i760?

THe unit i played with did NOT have the remote, so that is not a Rumor anymore.
Ethan did call me today, but he couldn't talk, he was in meetings all day, and won't get back to me until late in the week, but did have an update then.
Equus thanks for the update, and hopefully we won't have to wait too much longer to get our greedy little hands on the i760...

You know how much it kills us waiting on these Ethan updates!!!
I'm confused by MRailing saying "but did have an update then". I could care less about spelling & grammer. But what did this mean? Did he have an update when you spoke to him or will he have an update when he speaks to you at the end of the week? Inquiring minds wanna know....
Sorry typing on the i730 while in a meeting. He said he had been updated on the i760, but couldn't talk about it then, and would tell me later...

I hope Ethan has some good news...At this rate he's probably going to give us the release date the day of the release...
In any event, thanks Mrailing for all the updates. Hopefully you can get in touch with Ethan sooner than later, and have some positive news for us...THanks
Actually, when we are finally told something, I expect to hear, "I am happy to tell you, but please do not share this widely, that the device was released last week".
LOL
