They are just rumours about the i760 failing left and right............I hope people stop spreading news that is NOT true. reasons for hold up are not because the i760 failed tests.it has passed all tests, GIN does work on it...geez I have no idea where this started. Anyhoo, VZW's legal dept is where it is stuck. I am not at liberty to say anything yet, but please people can we calm down a little and around last week or third week of August look for it. Honestly WM6 is very unstable in testing out with conjunction to the phone and BT stack. Realise that the WM6 is NOT a phone OS and now this OS has to merge seamlessly with the phone and thats where MS is scratching their heads. It was solved recently and the i760 is "almost" going out the door.
Miata, this was NOT directed at you but I just your post to reply
Thanks for the update, equus. I'm curious as to whether Ethan's update to Michael is consistent with your update.
Assuming equus is right and the i760 is released in late August, it looks like I'll be celebrating my birthday with my sons, both of whose birthdays are the last week in August. So, how do I tell a 6 and a 4 year old, "For your birthday this year, Daddy bought himself a new PDAPhone. No birthday present for you."?

Unless some enterprising person begins hacking the ROM. Wouldn't it be nice to have cooked ROMs like they have @ XDA Developers?
It sure would. I run a cooked ROM on my TyTN. It is fantastic.

In response to bigmikeg's post and bigpandadaddy's post on HoFo, I think RLP stands for "radio link protocol". The spreadsheet posted mentions "Redirect needed for new Samsung i760 RLP". Looking at the Wikipedia info on RLP's, this seems as if it could have something to do with transmitting packets of data in fragments. This could possibly be what was being worked on to make sure that GIN was coexisting with WM6. The Wikipedia article also mentions that "The January 2006 IEEE 802.20 specification uses one of the newest forms of RLP."
Im just guessing, but a "redirect needed for new Samsung i760 RLP" sounds like they have worked out the kinks, I hope.....
Actually, given other clues gathered from the image, I'm guessing RLP stands for "Resource Location Protocol". The spreadsheet seems to belong to the Marketing department, and with labels like "Homepage Updates", the timeline seems more like a TODO list for their web developers.
I don't think this information changes anything we know about the i760's hardware. But it may be yet another clue that marketing is ramping up.

Ahhh, good point, because this is the "Online Marketing Calendar." Adding on to what SpltScreen said, with a "Redirect needed for new Samsung i760 RLP" task to be done on Tuesday, 7/31/2007, that might be when they plan to put several pages on the i760 on the website accessible to the public.

I have a really strong feeling that all we will be getting on the 31st is a coming soon page that shows the same flash demo we have already seen. Ugh, I really was hoping Ethan was right about the end of july release date. But it looks like Mid to late August now .

Considering this thread began in November 2006, I think we should be very happy if we see a "coming soon" page on July 31st. Who cares about waiting 2 more weeks if we've already been waiting for 8 months?
WIFi was originally disabled if the phone's wireless was turned on, so that they would not work simultaneously on the i730 and 6700, but was subsequently enabled in later ROMS, especially when Windows Mobile 5 was released. If there is even WiFi on the device I believe there is) I have no doubt that it will be enabled, or at the very least that some intrepid person will enable it
I have to say originally I was annoyed by the disabled. Then I got it back, then I stopped using WiFi altogether as the CDMA network is better than using WiFI in my opinion, people just want WiFi because they are cheap. I get it. it's OK do not flame me.
