Just to give everyone an update...I have from my corp rep that the i760 won't be available at any time today or tomorrow.
No word on the rest of the weekend yet.
The charger connection on my i730 has been on the fritz for several months. If I don't wiggle it just the right way and then lay it down softly, the charger flashes orange to red and doesn't charge the battery. Forget even trying the cradle, my phone prefers a diect connection at this point.
If I don't notice the problem, like when my kids bump the phone on the charging station, the battery drains itself to fully discharged as it sits there. Then I have to fight to get it restarted.
That was until today. Now it won't restart. No matter how I wiggle, soft reset, shake, ratlle and roll this thing is dead. There's an empty spot in my life where this damn phone connected me to the outside world. OK that's a bit dramatic, but how am I going to know where I am going next?
I might have had the phone repaired or replaced sooner, but I have been waiting for the i760 to be released. I'm like a strung out junkie waiting for a fix from my dealer. So I'll take that report of car chargers arriving at stores as a good sign. I'm off to the Verizon store to explore my short term (hopefully) options and to beg them for some information on the release of the replacement.
Get is repaired. What can happen?
1) You get a new/refurb one that you can sell on eBay to offset the i760
2) You can repair that void
3) You won't be holding your breath everyday waiting and waiting for the i760
As for the connector, I hate that thing. I wish they would make a more stable one then the one with those 2 stupid ends that stick out on i730. It is not confirmed that what Equus said. The connector has changed. Better? We do not know.

On one of the forums an employee from a store posted that they had received the car chargers and the connection is different.
Does anyone know if there were similar activities for the i730? Accessories sent first and what the gap was between receipt of accessories and phone release?
I heard "sometime in august" from my rep earlier this week.
I swear if there was another carrier where I lived I would be jumping ship. Engineering has run amuck at Verizon. I realize they are dedicated to putting out quality but if sprint is already shipping (Titan) then take the risk and get some phones out there...you can fix minor glitches later.
I'm guessing that they got burned in the past by releasing too soon and now Engineering has told them unless you want to get burned again don't question us....and they don't want to release until it's been tested into the ground because it's their ass on the line if any little thing doesn't work. Especially now since they have already delayed it so much.
Someone needs to step in and tell them to get it out the door now.
The Verizon store is a 40 minute drive from my office and I didn't want to make the drive for no reason. I assumed since they were gearing down the product (i730) that replacements would be hard to come by. Sure enough I have to call into their support center and order a warranty replacement. That means a several day business trip without my phone. Oh well.
As for the i760, the repair/tech guy gave me a smile and said he didn't know anything about the release. I signed into the sales side once I finished with the tech guys and they were clueless. They barely understood the differences in the phones in their current lineup. There was no coaxing any information about a impending release from them.
So my first two posts on this thread were a bust. I can only confirm more of the same hurry up and wait.
As for the connector on the i760 cross you fingers. The quality of the i730's out of the cradle connector was so obviously poor that it's hard to believe Samsung released it. Sitting in an airport with a tether to my laptop and the phone dangling from my leg by the cord is probably what doomed this phone. But that's the use they should be expecting when they design the phones.
FWIW... I was on with a wireless data support tech today helping out one of my clients and while waiting for something to reboot I mentioned I was excited about all the new stuff coming out soon and specifically the i760 and he just snickered and said "on half of the the calls I get right now, someone asks me about the i760" and I pushed for more and he mentioned the NDA they are under but then said "all of us here in our department are excited about the i760 too, we cant wait, we love the PDA phones, especially the new ones coming out". He also said he had seen and held the i760 and it was "sweet" and he also knew about the 6800, 5800, and the Q9.
Nothing groundbreaking, just something...
Oh yeah, I almost forgot...
I pressed the DTS guy about the get it now and said I heard that is what was holding up the i760. He then said "I guess you are on that forum that has more info than us" and then said "the version of get it now that will be on the PDA phones will be different and better than the versions on the regular mobiles and the the current Q and 700W/WX would be the 1st to have VZ Navigator available"
OK, I am done now...
