i know that there are many supporters of VZWs way of doing business on this thread, but how they order phone specifications from Samsung is making less and less sense every day...the idea of VZW choosing the design of a phone plenty of time in advance, and then VZW getting the phone from Samsung and trying to continuously modify it so that it stays competitive is ridiculous.....the fact that this phone was introduced at CES LAST WINTER and there is even a chance that it will be released THIS WINTER blows my mind....
ok, there, im done, had to get that off of my chest...i know this is a rumor for its release, but Mark_A_K's thought of waiting until 2008 is starting to look more and more feasible
If this is the case, they might as well scrap the I760, as they won't have any buyers for it.
Not to rain on anyone's parade, but Mr Rourke is definitely not saying "Smiles...Smiles, Everyone"! Welcome to Fantasy _____. (Sorry I could'nt include i760 in the blank)

I think it might be possible that readers of this thread will go down as some of the most "fair weather fans" in history. One moment we're fans of a rumor that has possibilities of bringing us the i760 in July and "Ethan" is our resident insider. The next minute KBAM comes through and offers up something completely sensible followed by an post of unconfirmed information (no offense meant - this thread is built on unconfirmed posts) that says things will be put behind. As soon as we see that, all hell breaks loose for a while until the next person comes by and calms us down (usually MRailing telling us something else "Ethan" said) -- and the cycle begins again.
Will somebody fess up to actually breaking something after one of the "doomsday posts"? I'd love to hear that unconfirmed information actually provoked a thrown phone or something...yeah...great.
Anyway, I went back to the i730 release thread just to get a feel for the insanity that was happening last time around. I didn't read everything, but it appeared that until about midway through the day's posts on 06/10/05, there was still only speculation about the release date. In fact, only the day before I saw more of the "I hate Verizon and everything about them" posts. Then midday on the 10th somebody found the actual release date information posted for 06/23/05, and Viola!!! -- everybody was happy again. The next 20 or so pages of posts are a bunch of people getting excited and trying to find the fastest way possible to have the unit shipped to them.
This doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it does say that we can still enjoy this as a RUMOR THREAD and keep crossing our fingers. No reason to despair yet (Although I do hate waiting). Certain sources in this forum have a pretty solid track record, and it will be interesting to see who was right. The day is going to come where the information is going to surprise us and the phone release day will be given. The release information on 06/10/05 seemed to be a complete surprise, even though everybody had their "inside information" at that time as well.
Mark or anybody else who was there remember all of this?
My corp rep just contacted me again and apologised for some mis information. It appears the memeo they received regrding the delay on the i760 was true, however the pushback to December was a typo. It is slated to be released "late August" in the same timeframe as the xv6800 and xv5800. Sorry for the confusion, but wanted to get this out as soon as I was contacted. There is still hope.
[sarcasm] I am so sick of all this whining. Verizon does not owe any of you a new phone, least of all the i760. Get over yourselves. Your piddling little data plans are not that important. NE2 does not mean anything. Look at me. I'm not complaining anymore, even though my i760 spontaneously hard reset main memory twice in the past two weeks. If VZW wants to hold up a perfectly usable phone with an improved OS because they can't find a way to solder GIN/VCast to the root so it can't be removed or to make sure they crippled everything they could, that is their right. It is your own choice if you're still walking around with THREE-YEAR-OLD technology (the i730 was developed at least a year before its release two years ago). You are free to upgrade to one of the new Chocolates or a PN-820 or a Treo 700. Either way, until they release the i760, be grateful that you are on the nation's best network.[/sarcasm]

Oh great but it's too late because someone posted your reply over at HoFo.....lol

I know that but service providers will be changing there current business models startingnext year based on the release of the iPhone and the FCC article......we can only hope!
I don't know. What compelling reason is it for the current providers to have 700MHz and have to open up their systems vs. keeping their current monopolies in place. I just don't see AT&T, nor Verizon, nor anybody else, going for this band with this "restriction".

Well you're not doing too bad "even though (your) my i760 spontaneously hard reset main memory twice in the past two weeks".
lol

i dont know if this post was in response to my comments or not. my simple point was that due to the wear and tear that my phone has gone through since November 2004, the antenna has broken off and the plastic covering the right hinge has broken off.....i guess i should stay positive about waiting for the i760, because right now i have flip/vertically sliding/horizontally sliding phone with a weak signal
(maybe i should trademark the idea before Apple does )
i know this is a rumor thread and ive been lurking on this thread since December 2006 (this thread is how i found out about the i760)...when i heard that a December 2007 release was possible, i truly almost lost my mind...my phone is going to be a piece of plastic any day now and i have been patiently holding out for this i760 since December 2006...now that the info has been changed to late August, i am somewhat happier..with the 30 day policy, i might have to get the treo and then exchange it.....

I tired to get up as quickly as he contacted me. because I knew the previous post would send people spinning. I think he was a little embarrased witht he error. The typo was to push the delay of the GPS feature on the BB 8830e until December. Sorry for all of the confusion. Just trying to keep everyone up to date.

Yeah, some guys would "die" for that kind of flexibility of function.
Wasn't speaking to you specifically. Just having fun with all of us - probably can count the number of people on one hand who aren't guilty of some sort of "thread rage" over the last months.
