Just goes to show the types of people passing the information to us, doing reviews, and possibly "testing" the units for the companies. I sure wish companies would get smart and find the top people across the 'net' and get them to test. They would get far more feedback, get more publicity, and sell more products, all the while keeping the "this device sucks" threads to a minimum, which improving their products.
I hope the i760 is what we hope, and seeing the reduction in size compared to the blackjack, it really makes me wonder which device I should be holding out for...
Bring on the devices!

I sure hope they offer a version without a camera. I work in classified environments and any phone with a cam is worthless to me.
Other than that, it looks very nice!
Me too, or three.
Courthouses don't like cameras and it's pretty awkward going to a conference to schedule a trial if they won't let yo bring your pda. At least most guards haven't figured out that they can also act as recorders.
I got to play with it briefly, for a few hours, yes. But no I'm not using it now.
So what do you think about it? Particularily compaired to the i730..or the i830 which it seems you have instead? And wait, how did you get an opportunity to play around with it for hours? I can't seem to find where you even made this comment.
Has anyone noticed that the answer and end call buttons appear to be on the left and right side of the i760? I really like my i730 and would like to go with the i760, but I have always had problems with phones that use a lot of buttons on the side. Just seems to me like you would be hanging up or making calls accidently all the time.

People have problems on the front (ala i730) and on the side.....
Lets wait and see when we get our hands on it.

I am new to the forums and was thinking of buying a new pda phone and put my i500 to rest (IT NEEDS IT!). I stopped into Verizon because I fell in love with the i730 on the internet. It seems that all the Verizon shops around me dont carry the i730 anymore? After coming to this forum I see there are plans of an i760. Should I suck it up and wait for a 760 or should I find some other source for the i730 phone?
The forum looks great and I can see myself hanging out in here WAY to often!

Since your question relates to this thread, I moved your post here.
You can still get the i730 online or by calling in, and it's still a good phone. It has yet to be seen whether i760 will even be released on Verizon, or how good of a phone it will be. Verizon doesn't announce phones until they are "approved and tested" on their network, and the i760 hasn't been announced yet. We have seen a few slides about it, but nothing concrete.
The i760 also isn't suppose to show up until at least Q2 of this year, and even then it could be Q3 or Q4, or even 2008 before it would actually be released. The i730 originally was "suppose" to show up in late 2004, based upon the rumors, then March of 2005, but was finally released the end of June. So things can get pushed and even canceled.
The i730 is still a great phone, and if you need something now, I would still recommend it, and you can get it pretty cheap from Verizon right now, under $199 if you use NE2 and promo price, so it's a good deal. And who knows, the i760 could be $599 or higher, even with a 2 year contract and NE2, so you might do better by getting the i730 now...

Most here would likely advise you to get started with an i730, new or used.
Assuming you can't get a good VZW upgrade deal ($200 online with new service and a 2-yr commit), try the Garage forum here, or HowardForums' B/S/T, or craigslist.org, or eBay.
We really don't have complete or satisfactory specs on the SCH-i760, and it won't likely ship until well into Q2. (It hasn't even been submitted to the FCC, and type acceptance to release is generally a 2-3 month interval by itself.)
Ultimately, an i730 acquired today could be retained as a back-up device, or sold off.
The only thing I've really missed from the i730 is a camera - there have been MANY times I have wanted to take a snapshot of something and been unable to (I'm not one to carry an extra camera...)
A pity then as there are many 7+ megapixel point and shoot cameras with zoom lenses that are very small but yield high resolution pictures that are truly useful, something cell phone camera compormises do not as of yet.
And I really wouldn't want a zoom lense on my phone!

Check out this video.. a stylus makes an appearance.
That stylus would not be usable by me if it didn't extend to the length of the SCH-i730 stylus. One of the subtle design triumphs of the Samsung device over most other PDA and touch screen phones.

And it might just extend. This is the first "presence" of it, and we saw it for 10 seconds. I would say, knowing what they did with the stylus on the i730, it will most likely extend...

It does extend... but fully extended, it's about the length of an i730/i830 stylus not extended.
Eclipsi01, my friend, based on your posts, it's apparent that you've actually used the i760. You see how desperate we are here. Now, come on, share a little more about the user experience on the i760. Is the interface fast, were you blown away by the phone? Were there shortcomings?
Well, I guess we can confirm that the "leaked" slide were not firm dates. 1/8 passed with no info on a Libra phone at all. 1/15 is today, with no Titan/Tytan on VzW's website. So, I'm not holding my breath on a 2/12 release. The good news is that we are seeing the i760, CDMA version, out and about. That is more than we can say of the other 2 devices listed above. Mid March has been mentioned for the i760 and Titan---we'll see.
Well I heard some BAD NEWS. The Samsung i760 is suppose to be a Windows Mobile Smartphone OS. Now this directly conflicts with the Stylus that was pulled out in another video, but I was watching some Podcasts catching up on some of the CES stuff, and if you go to http://www.dl.tv and download dl.tv video #128 and go to 17:50 and you can watch it in hands. You can see it slide, with ease, and they present some more information about it. You see it flipping around, but they said "no touchscreen, it's going to run Windows Mobile Smartphone OS." You can see the stylus hole right where Patrick points and says he likes the outside keyboard.
So again, conflicting information.... But with Sascha reporting it's Smartphone OS, then it might be Smartphone OS....

At this point, there's really no chance we'll see the i760 in Q1. In fact, it's probably not worth speculating on a release date until it shows up at the FCC for type acceptance.
Another possible source of delay in this case, all by itself, is Crossbow...

Smartphone OS would make Baby Jesus cry... (joking!)
