I mean, people can spoof domain names....... Don't hate me cause I am trying to protect myself. How many of us get those fake ebay/paypal emails...... My point exactly.

I want this to be the real deal, and I want this to prove me wrong.

a) as someone mentioned, this file could have been created at any time....or it could have been created this morning. All we know is that someone discovered it today

b) Ethan did say marketing is getting ramped up for the release, so that's a good sign

c) as a Sys Admin, I guarantee this site is NOT spoofed.

The reason for the low quality is due to the swf file being presented in the wrong resolution. The second link resolved that.

Game over man, game over! LOL

Like I said, I am just being cautious.... I would hate for my feelings to get hurt.

Thanks Geckotek!

LOL, let's all just hope it's a good sign. At the least, it renewed my interest in the device. The 3D view gave me a better idea of what the device is like.

Indeed. The device looks really sweet in the 3d view.

If it has the same sturdy build and feel of the ix30, then this should fit the bill nicely.

My business rep replied today and told me to check back August 7th for whatever that's worth. I asked that I be notified upon release.

The site is not spoofed - it's the real deal. It just wasn't being shown properly bc of they link itself wasn't an html site but a swf site. The coorect way to present that site was the html w/ the swf file embedded in it.

The only way people spoof ebay/paypal is by creating an entirely false site. Hover over one of the links in your phishing emails - instead of it saying ebay.com - it'll just show an IP address (mainly from Europe).

Look at the source code of the html site I linked to - it all points to vzw.com and not another site/address.

Well, there are other ways of spoofing sites than what you described....but I digress.

He's already accepted that the site is legit....no need to continue this.

For what that reply from Verizon is worth . As we all know it's probably not very valid, but who knows. Here's hoping for next week instead!

Great post Geckotek! ...Dang, that thing is freakin HUGE!! .77 verses the .9 we are at now on the 730!? You'd think after two plus years we get more than .132-ish shaved (without losing features) and WM6! ...I'm looking at the 760 as a temporary fix until th next gen devices come out (is spring '08 too much to hope for!?). -Isn't the NE2 merits now 9 months?

I am stoked for the 760 release, but a lot more excited to see what impact the iPhone has had on the industry at CES!

All,

One more thing that can affirm the i760 is coming soon.... Samsung has the software for it on their website (as of 7/6). Link is: SAMSUNG Download Center

I remember on a HoFo forum that someone figured out that when you start a 6700 for the first time, do the copy and paste exercise and soft reset the phone before the today screen comes up the first time, NONE of the carrier added applications are installed. Virtually a clean unbranded phone. After going into the extended ROM you could then install the applications that you might want (MMS).

Hopefully the same type trick might work with this phone to keep the Get it Whenever and V-Crap applications off the phone.

The reason this worked is that as soon as the today screen loaded it began actually installing the apps, as the 6700 didn't have them loaded in ROM. If Verizon is smart, they will have it loaded in ROM, if not, then yes, you will be able to bypass having it loaded at bootup, otherwise it will be apart of the OS.

Funny they don't put it up against an SCH-i730. Probably because it is too close in size.
