That info sounds promising. The tech support guy I spoke to today did reiterate that they typically only receive training a few days before the launch date. In the case of the BB 8830, 4 days prior to launch on May 28th. He also concurred with the marketing investment on the BB launch but that was probably just speculation on his part. I tested him on the cpu specs for the Treo vs i730 and he stated immediately that the Treo had a faster clock speed--until I had to tell him to look again. Treo is 312mhz!
Well... its been a long weekend and I'm bored.. nothing going on in the i760 speculation thread of note other than some idle chit chat... so I was to curious to see how often Micheal reprimands us to stay on topic.. I did a little search of all of his posts with the word "topic" in his post and found this interesting data.. He has chastised us 14 times since the beginning of this thread first on 6 of Feb, and last on the 6th of July (twice)... I attach this graph for your edification.... So what's the point...the rate at which he chastises us is increasing, I sure hope this phone comes out soon!!
I just wanted to contribute something as interesting as tsatryan's little graphics!

Like I said, it would either be June or July if they screwed something up. With talk of training on the phone, I guess it sounds like its coming out this week or the next. Maybe I'll call my contacts to see what they say. I'll report if I find out anything.
While this report won't get the i760 released faster, at least it favors VZW.
To VZW's credit, its non-warranty repair policy (revised for the better last fall) is certainly civilized compared to Apple's shocking program for iPhone (apparently, AT&T isn't involved).
As most know, VZW charges $50 for a like refurb if the device is out of warranty (and the subscriber doesn't have VZW's affordable extended warranty coverage). The rate applies to all VZW-branded devices and a swap may be available even if the non-working unit was purchased second-hand.
In contrast, Apple's flat-rate charges for iPhone service are as follows:
Battery replacement only: $79, plus S+H
(Note: Not only is iPhone's battery, like iPod's, "sealed"--it's soldered to the motherboard as well. This Jobs conceit, a form of assured obsolescence, is both insulting and inconvenient.)
Repair (refurb swap vs bench repair unknown)-- --4GB model: $199, plus S+H --8GB model: $249, plus S+H
An iPhone extended warranty plan will be announced shortly.
Basically, these "repair" charges approximate Apple's manufacturing cost for new units. And keep in mind, post-warranty issues are often the latent result of design or manufacturing defects (see Xbox controversy). Clearly, Apple's charges are grossly excessive and unacceptable.
Thus, we must acknowledge that the out-of-warranty support offered by VZW (and for that matter, Sprint) is not among its sins.

Mark,
You have way too much time on your hands. I think MRailing will keep this up because of all the hard work you put into it.
I think you need to take up fishing...or bowling...or lawn croquet.

I am a frequent lurker to the forum but am usually too lazy to actually login and post.
I called my VZW business rep friday and told him that i would be moving 6 of my lines no longer under contract on 7/13. I made sure he knew it was because of the lack of choices for PDAs. He tried to sell me on the new blackberry but i told him i was a Windows Mobile bigot all the way.
I told him i have been waiting forever for the 760 and have just lost patience.
He told me that i should wait 1 week. I asked "are you saying it will be available by the 20th?"
His response was that i would be much happier if i wait until the 20th.
Maybe. I am just relaying what i was told. I honestly don't believe it but i thought it was worth posting. I refuse to get excited until i see the device on VZW.com
Don't you feel like you are a horse and there is carrot constantly in front of you? To be exact, there has been a carrot in front of me since March.
Does anybody remember the website that Verizon has that shows the coming soon stuff? I remember when the i730 and Treo 700 when they launched, it appeared on some website. It is not the test one.

Are you thinking of testman.verizonwireless.com ?
They seem to have it more locked down.
You used to be able to do a zip of 99999 or something and see some new stuff. I don't think it will be our source this time. who knows though.
