The i760 or another new device will be released by New Year's!!
This webpage says that many of us now have six months to use our NE2 credit or we could be charged full retail on our next phone. Here's the page...the relevant text is at the bottom. http://support.vzw.com/features/call...every_two.html
"If you enrolled in the program on or after 11/25/02, you must take advantage of the New Every Two offer within six months of becoming eligible; otherwise, you may be charged full retail price to upgrade your current handset."
So they'll have to release something by Jan. 7, 2008. We now have a maximum release date.

Still doesn't mean VZW feels they need to provide the i760. For all they care, the "latest technology" is in the new Chocolate.
This all means absolutely nothing (I realize it was a joke, but I'm so tired of the NE2 conversation.)
Note the additional qualifying language in VZW's full presentation of NE2 benefits. Reproduced here in the interest of full disclosure...
From the very same masters of generosity and the King's English who have decreed that the word "Unlimited" shall henceforth mean "a limit of 5GB" (or is it now 4GB?):
Our New Every Two program can provide you with the latest in digital phone technology every two years...that we, in our sole and arbitrary opinion, deem adequate; that is sufficiently dumbed down and locked down that we may minimze support costs and maximize proprietary content sales; and that we shall sell to you at the highest possible price, and according to the most restrictive ToS, so as to offset fully the value of your NE2 and enhance our profitability; and subject to renewal of your service agreement for two years, or the duration of your lifetime, whichever is less. And Verizon Wireless is the first company to offer it.
Well, I'm off for a week at the beach, so that should help the i760 to be released while I can't get to it. I will be waiting in a far less hectic environment!
I think it is a worthy effort!
Looking forward to their reply.

They don't say you'll get technologically similar phones...if they did would NE2 really mean anything or be as catchy as it is. They themselves say NE2 was made to "ensure you WILL always have a MORE ADVANCED phone" and "the latest in digital technology."
Let us not forget the "Unlimited Data" feature.......lol

My 2 yr. old 730 died while waiting for the 760 (they're not waterproof?). Picked up a Treo 700Wx hoping the 760 would be out before the return period. I always sneered at the Treo users but I gotta admit, this thing is pretty solid. It just works and feels snappier. Also, as I was playing around with bluetooth this morning, I set up a bluetooth dun from my laptop and it worked! 400k download in Atlanta! I have pdaNet installed for USB but bluetooth is disabled so this connection is completely dun. Verizon forgot to cripple the bluetooth on this phone? Anyway, in an attempt to get back on topic, if you're waiting for the 760 like me, you might want to consider the 700 to play with and the fast bluetooth dun makes it a definite keeper until I see how the 760 shakes out in the wild.

You forgot to enclose your statement with [sarcasm] tags
This means they will delay the launch intentionally until after January just so none of us can use our NE2, and instead we will all have to pay full price.

For all of you guys with NE2 expiring... Why not buy a PalmTreo 700Wx or something similar with your discount and just sell it on ebay for $450 or so? Then take that cash and buy the i760 for retail price when it comes out. You'll probably end up paying the same price, or even less than if you waited for the i760 to come out and used your NE2 on it. Just a thought
So far I have been enjoying my new 700wx that I just bought...it is just an incredible one-handed wonder. I really like the keyboard on the bottom vs the slider on the i730. I am not sure how I will like the horizontal keyboard on the i760. Just like others, I have less than 30 days to return the Treo and get the i760...it would be nice if it comes out prior to August 5th (broken record).
well ....got real tired of Verizon and waiting for the i760 ....went with the Sprint SERO plan and Mogul. $50 for 1250 minutes plus free data and texting. That would be almost $120 on Verizon's network.
I will monitor this thread as I plan to keep my Verizon phone for the next 30 days while trying sprint out. maybe I will switch back. Too bad that verizon can't get there head out of there a$$.
Have a good day gentlemen ... and good luck with the wait!
Screw verizon.... I'm going somewhere else. They currently have the worst phone selection on the market (in my opinion) , their tech support personnel are mostly all mentally challenged (who knew a hard reset fixes EVERYTHING) , and many of their rates are not very competitive Verizon need to get their F***ing act together!!

Roidmonkie,
Did you join the forum today just to create this post? Let me know if you find any Rhode Scholars in tech support at any of the other carriers. Also, I earlier claimed that I might jump to Cingular to grab the Kaiser when I read that it would be released in July, but now it looks like that release is also getting pushed back. My point is that I'm not that impressed by the offerings of any of the carriers right now. The 6800 and 8525 just aren't significant enough upgrades to make me jump ship.

Really considering doing this as well, I need a new phone!!!
For those of you who have had the opportunity to play with the i760, what's your impression of the send / end buttons being on the sides?
Well, having used the chocolate before, the end button on the side wasn't that big of an adjustment. I did find myself hitting it by mistake while taking a picture and it canceled my photo. The device isn't so wide that it makes it hard to dial or hang-up when using the keypad, but I do wish they had put them on the face of the device. I think it will cause a few issues until people adapt to it.

Sorry if it looks that way. Stumbled on this forum trying to find out if verizon had anything new coming out soon. Have had my Treo 700W since it came out. Nothing but a headache it has been. Every time I call verizon they tell me to do a hard reset and that will fix it...never does! Probably right about the tech support everywhere else! lol I have had verizon for about 7 years and my service has been going down hill over the past 2 years. My contract is up and just pondering whether or not to jump ship.
