This information was posted on Engadget the other day too, which the person who made up that sheet could have pulled that information... Again, take this stuff with a grain of salt until you get confirmation from the BIG V themselves...

And Sept 04 looks like an all out release of phones for the lucrative Back-to-School blitz Verizon and all the other carriers are known for .
meh, I can wait, unless the iPhone drops to $100 a pop I can wait for the $200 - $300 i760.

Their buggy phones no doubt, but my latest replacement is the worst Q I've had yet. Sometimes while typing a text message it'll just randomly send it and when I'm typing while say on the net, it'll randomly open/close PIE and other programs. It's more or less made my Q completely useless for anything other than a phone. Granted even dialing a number is a struggle at some points as it'll just punch a few extra numbers in for me when it feels like it.
I was kinda hoping Verizon would get the i760 out soon so instead of having to bother getting it replaced yet again I could just smash it on the ground to get my frustration out.
I had a Q that would do that. My current one doesn't...however it randomly just turns itself off this last week or so.
I have close to 10 Qs just because I either wanted a newer "less scratched" one, wanted a black one, or had a technical issue. (I manage a deployment of about 75 of them.)
While I have had several problems, I'd say I've had several problems with all my phones in the last few years. The Q is not exceptional.
However, I can say overall the Q ownership has been pleasant. Buy one....if you have issues, exchange it until you get a good one....Michael Style BABY!!

I've sadly been through more than 10 of them. I bought the silver Q when it first came out and can't even count how many times I had to replace it. I finally complained to Verizon to just give me another phone because back then the battery life on the Q was just about as bad as it could get. I then jumped over to a XV6700 which I couldn't stand at all as it would crash all the time and the ear piece on it was way too silent. Replaced that for a 700p that I was quite happy with, but the lack of multitasking in the Palm OS just became too annoying after a while. I sold the 700p and went back to the Q after I heard the MOL3 update was a very positive update for the phone. I've replaced the black Q about 5 times now.
I wonder when the Q9M is going to be out since it's clearly ready for launch. If that comes out soon I could always just complain to somebody at the Verizon store that I'm sick of my Q having to be replaced so often and swap it out with that. That would make the wait for the i760 much better.
Good feedback on the Q. I really love the form factor and rubberized feel of the Black finish. I'm still a Sammy fan having spent 1000's of hours in the Super Dave days pre-WM5 official release. I literally burned myself out with this phone.
Now that I have been using the Treo (sorry folks) 700wx, I have to say the ease of use with all of the interface buttons are pretty sweet. Great one-handed capability and I was pretty good with the i730 one-handed as well.
The other thing I noticed was that the standard battery on this guy is 1800 mah and the BIG extended battery on the i730 was 1700 mah. Overall it feels lighter and comfortable when holding it.
Downside: It is under-powered, old technology, lower res screen, and still a larger form factor than the Q.
Thought I'd share my new 'interim' experience even though most of my experience is old news.
Wireless broadband's strongest WM6Pro PPC QWERTY weapons for at least the next, say, nine months, appear to be these (for the US):
1) For VZW, the Sammy i760 (Rev0) and the HTC xv6800 (RevA)
2) For AT&T, the HTC P4550 Kaiser (HSDPA/HSUPA) and the HTC X7501 Advantage (HSDPA) (soon to be sold by CompUSA, $900)
3) For Sprint, the HTC PPC-6800Mogul (RevA), and "players to be named later," including, presumably, LG's first PPC--coming in 2008
4) For T-Mo, nothing to report pending its 3G rollout
Are there, in the pipeline, any other known WM6Pro broadband contenders for the "Big 3" carriers?
For various reasons, we can exclude devices such as the PalmTreo 700Wx/750/755p, Moto Q9h/Q9m, Moto MC35, HTC SMT5800/S720 Libra, HTC P4350 Atlas/Herald/T-Mo Wing, BBs, iPhone, Nokias, SEs, Sanyos, etc.
The problem for many is that none of this wave of devices, in combination with the networks on which they ride, is ideal. Compromises diminish them all.
i totally agree with those of you that have said VZW really only pushes one PDA device at a time and right now it is definitely the blackberry 8830 world edition. I've seen ads on the tube, in Fortune, Entrepreneur and Inc. From a marketing standpoint, you've gotta think they have a plan and it involves a calculated release and marketing push for each device. I think they think Q users, HTC users and i760 users are one in the same, so if we see anything on either the HTC or the new Q9M after the 8830 push we probably wont see anything for the 760 until after. -Hopefully, the i760 is on deck and up next after the 8830.
...In case they dont pre-release to biz customers, anyone know what time of day they typically release online!?
Yes I am so excited about the iPhone only becuse it is the first cell device not crippled by the service provider.
Things are going to look a lot different out there with the next 12 months.
Mark
You call EDGE not crippling it? Who's idea do you think that was, Apple's or AT&T's?

once again, we all need to understand.... those in the stores will know that the i760 has been released when they put one up on display on the wall of the store they work in. And, even then, they may still not know!
Not every rep in stores are that clueless Though those reps tend to not stay in stores for very long. Bigger and better things, and so forth. Techs are almost useless though. Best bet is finding someone who actually has a pda / smartphone and asking them (if you have no other source of information) these are the people who are more apt to have more to say than "i760, what's that?"

sorry to make this a Q post, but... vaxick - take your Q apart (PM me if you want the directions because it sounds like your keyboard is seated incorrectly in the housing). before i changed my complete housing and keyboard i had bought just the keyboard for the black Q and when i installed it i had problems like the one you described. i pulled it back apart and put it back together and problem solved. its funny, i never had any issues like anyone describes on my Q or on my i730. both of those units were/are originals and like i have said, i run alot of different software and monkey around with a ton of different home screens on the Q...

This is off topic, but it's bugging me (I already addressed this in an earlier post), so I need to respond. I'm quite sure it was Apple and not Cingular that decided to go with Edge. Read the following quote from a June 29th Wall Street Journal article and decide for yourself who decided to leave 3G out of the iphone:
When we looked at 3G, the chipsets are not quite mature, in the sense that they're not low-enough power for what we were looking for. They were not integrated enough, so they took up too much physical space. We cared a lot about battery life and we cared a lot about physical size. Down the road, I'm sure some of those tradeoffs will become more favorable towards 3G but as of now we think we made a pretty good doggone decision.

Just saying
There are some "in the know" reps in the stores. And, most often, their "inside knowledge" comes from... right here in this forum. VZW itself tells the people in the local stores nothing at all until they unbox it from delivery trucks.

I love the black Q. I guess it all depends on the user and I guess the particular phone that you have. I've had 2 black Q's compared to 10 6700s before I made VZW give me the Q for free. The only reason I've had two Q's is because my first one was stolen..
And I do all the "power user" stuff that most of us on this forum do. Exchange sync, slingbox, TCPMP, lots of mp3s, Sirius streaming, etc.
I love it, give it a shot it might surprise you.
Tho my wife has the Treo 700Wx and she loves it so I guess to each his own.

Sounds like iHype to me. Jobs can justify the decision to go with G2 however he wants, but just think about the bandwidth hit AT&T would be taking if a half a million of these bad boys were whacking away at their network at a Meg and a half per second.

There have been rumors elsewhere getting louder of a RevA Treo 800w on the horizon for this fall. I would think it would have to be a contender just because of the popularity of the Treos. I have absolutely no figures to back this up, but I assume that Treos are the second most popular business devices behind the BBs (and probably the most popular WM devices).
Nonetheless, I really want an i760. It is becoming a problem for me.
This thread is now taking a Moto Q spiral, just like the iPhone spiral. Please keep this to the Rumor and Release of the SCH-i760 and discussions about it. If you want to compare a device with the i760, then do so, but please stick to the i760, and if you want to discuss the Q, there is a Q forum, and the lounge. Other devices also have their own forum or the lounge.
Please stay on topic.

RE this spreadsheet, as it has been pointed out take it for a grain of salt. To further back that up, look at the LG release slated for the 9th compared to the other phones. No model number is used. I understand the general public may not know the chocolates go 8500 8550 and 8600 but I would think an internal document would note this so in order to avoid confusion by clerks who think these are just new flavors of the chocolate. my 2 cents. (We need a smily of Two pennies)
I was at Vzw the other day and questioned an employee about new pda releases. Fruitless I know, but I was already there. His face lit up and he ran to the counter and pulled a brochure from a drawer. (At this point I was somewhate excited) He opend the brochure and proudly pointed to the "new" LG ENV in Orange and said, "Check out this new PDA". Me shakes head and walks away.
We need a PDAPhoneHome shirt to the effect of, "Unless you read PDAPH, I know more about your phones than you." or "In Ur SYSTEMS, Knowin Ur Phones"
I am getting antsy, I wish we could get some news, I have a addiction to this thread. Back to Work.
