I think that is what I am gonna end up doing now. Keep my Q, and see how it plays out. I have seriously considered a Mogul on Sprint, and get some tiny regular phone on VZW, but with their network sucking here, and no other provider than them or VZW, I don't have much to choose from.
My biggest fear is that the new Q9m, XV6800, or UTS 5800 will come out first, and I will jump on those because of my impatience.
I called August for release, but I am starting to feel its going to be later than that...

I've read in several articles that they kept 3G off to preserve battery life. For the typical iPhone user (i.e. former ipod user), battery life is probably more important than high speed internet access. In this way, I think they were smart. Apple would have gotten killed by the press if people couldn't listen to itunes on their precious iPhones for more than a few hours.

I think aircard data plans are more expensive than PDA data plans, so by splitting voice and data plans VZW might actually get more ongoing service fee revenue. I could be wrong...

Agreed the equipment sales revenue is a one time. However, the additional 45.00 per user of recurring revenue will definately show in the "loss" column. We will keep the Aircards going, but were planning on maintaining their PDA unlimited data accounts as well.

There will be many sw upgrades to the iPhone (at least that's what I'm reading) before the i760 is released.

While I can't fault anyone for getting a [you know what] (hell, I find myself drooling every time I see the interface!), I don't understand how a true PDAPhone can ever be compared to that new product over at AT&T??!! Just the fact that the AT&T product doesn't support 3rd party software is enough to takes it out of the market for me. Although OS X includes many of the other apps that I would need (e.g., calendar and scheduling), I haven't seen anything that tells me just how robust (or weak) those apps are. On the other hand, the i760/WM6 is clearly business oriented, and should deliver robust business functionality.
*Sheesh* I just need to be rich... then I could afford one of each!

It is with some sadness I generally am bidding farewell to this forum. The people here are fantastic, but I had to move over to the BB dark side. I appreciate all the help you all have been. I wish you good luck and good tinkering with the i760. I hope it gets released soon.
If the i760 is VERY stable and comes out with a no-camera version, I'd appreciate a PM letting me know (We can revisit our BB commitment in a couple of years).
I have posted a comparison of the devices here:

Hope it helps someone.

I too could not wait (as I have already sold my i730 today) and went to a Verizon store to purchase a replacement. I checked out 3 options (and the only three as I see it): Treo 700Wx, Motorola Q Black, and BB 8830. After spending an hour playing with all three, I decided to go for the Treo 700Wx. It just has everything that I was looking for in terms of user interface as well as a touch screen. It's light(er) than the i730 and has a nice form factor.
I know it's not an i730 and can already tell after surfing the web and checking out other features/apps. I will use it for the next 30 days and make a decision then whether to keep it(I really need a functional business phone that sync's easily with Outlook) or go for the latest PDA release.
I hope the i760 or Q9 comes out as I REALLY liked the form factor on the Black Q...almost bought it but got scared off by other's reports of locking and poor battery. That black rubber exterior is quite awesome as I HATE to baby a phone.
Not defecting yet folks...just experimenting with other phones.

I'd strongly recommend that you stay away from the 700wx. Besides the hardware being outdated, I think the Treos have terrible build quality. I have many friends and colleagues who have gone through several units because things break down. I'd go with the 8830 over the 700wx any day (but of course I'd prefer the i760).
