I've am sorry to say, the 760 most probably will not be out before the fall.
I've spoken to my corp sales person for my father's company. I've stopped into my local Verizon store once a week for the last few weeks, and I even chatted with a nice person at Verizon customer service yesterday.
The phone is not listed on any coming soon lists. Corporate sales no nothing about it. There release calender goes out to the end of Sept, and the only phones listed are not smart phones. There are new versions of the Motorola and LG phones.
I guess I am getting a little sick and tired of the "I've talked with my people and this is the time frame we have been told..." BS. Come on, Like MRailing has said, and KBAM, these reps are not allowed to disclose the release time of the phone. By now, in the postings, I have seen hundreds of posts stating one date, then another and then another. If we can get a Verizon guy, on the record with a solid date, great. Until then, I feel much better with "Ethan" as our main person. Thanks all. Also, please, please, leave the iPhone off of this forum. Everywhere I go on the bloody internet, I hear of the device. Please no more.
if you have been with this thread from the beginning and if you happened to have been through the i730 initial release/rumor thread and also the i730 wm5 release/rumor thread or any other release/rumor thread you should know the following:
1. store reps know nothing
2. corp reps know nothing
3. cs reps know nothing
4. dts techs know nothing

Ok so I will apologize as being one of the offenders....I only posted info from my rep because he was spot on when the I730 was to be released 4 months prior to its release. It was in my hands from the mailbox on the day he had forecasted. Anyway, so when he told me July, I believed him and wanted to pass along the info......I will keep my mouth shut and fingers crossed!!!
Happy fourth everyone!!!!

LOL, If people dont post what you have heard on the i760 release here, whats the purpose of this thread!? I agree to keep the Custom Service reps and retail reps BS off of here, but biz reps and other "insiders" have been a great source of info and their information should be encouraged to be posted here.
If you look back at this thread (as well as the i730 pre-release thread) you will start to some trends develop in the info released. -I'm sure these trends would have been on the money, until the GIN delay. If you want a firm date that wont change from a "Verizon guy on the record", this isn't the site for you. Posting "rumors" IS the point of a "rumor" thread, fow-shizzle!!
If VZW does wait til the fall, I suspect a lot of people will wait til the new models are shown at the shows at the beginning of 2008. After all, those wowed by the iPhone won't be impressed with the i760. Those of us who have been waiting this long, aren't going to jump at the the i760 when the new models with more features, which may not be crippled, will be shown a few months later, at least I won't.
Who knows Samsung may get fed up and bring that black European model over here with an American radio and do a deal with Tmobile or AT&T. That would be tempting.
Did anyone notice that they dropped the Silver Q from the website today? It was up there yesterday. They also moved up the Black Q to the top above the PN-820. Possible positioning for another addition but really means nothing...thought you might find that somewhat interesting over and above all of the date speculation.

No need to apologize. Your informaiton is just as valid as anyone elses information on the i760. Welcome to the forum and thanks for your input.

Where are you at not to be nosey but in the Cincinnati/Dayton area the silver Q hasn't been on the site in over a month and neither is the 6700 i730 and one of the treo's not sure which though.
Ahhh...Northern Virginia area. It was just there yesterday as I was comparing it to the testman site. So it all depends on availability based on zip code.
Just in case the I760 has a delay in launch and the XV6800 was available first, how bad of a phone would that be compared to the I760?
Can't deal with using this tiny keyboard on the I730 much longer!
Three i760 release issues point to August or later, folks.
First, the several posts citing the i760 as having failed VZW "user testing"--perhaps, for software issues attributable to crapware--were more convincing than any declaring it having passed. (We'd like to think approval would ring out a faint note or two from VZW concertmaster "Lou," who presides over the QWERTY keys of the Hammond organ in the Church of Bedminster. Nada.)
So, who says the i760 is now "Mother Bell-approved?"
Second, it's hard to believe so many VZW people would know virtually nothing about a device scheduled for imminent rollout. And there's no useful intel on other forums or blogs. (Yes, PDAdb.net still indicates July. But the "official" VZW doc that started this thread had called February!)
We acknowledge that VZW is customarily tight-lipped about release schedules, and that C/S and store reps are always poor sources, but c'mon. When this device is within a few weeks of dropping, we'll know it.
Third, the i760 is likely to hit B2B channels two weeks before online/telesales and maybe three weeks before retail. The biz reps will know first, but their current reports simply lack conviction. Still, keep after them.
By the evidence, a case can be made that the reason no date has been captured is because...release has been on hold.
So what are the odds for July? Not lookin' good. By all accounts, it's shaping up for...late August, or worse.
It's conceivable that the xv6800, already on Sprint as the "Mogul," will drop first. And it's possible that the compelling HTC P4550 "Kaiser," for GSM/HSDPA/HSUPA, will launch at AT&T before VZW gets out the Sammy. Ah, yes, the substitution effect...
VZW may soon learn that committees cannot design hardware.
Perhaps "Ethan" has better info but he's no longer in the food chain for devices--and the first to say so.
Finally, we note that this week marks the i730's second anniversary (x830s are still offered at VZW and Sprint). An amazing reign that won't likely be repeated by Samsung, let alone anyone else. All in all, the Jeep that helped win WW3.x Thanks, Sammy.
--BAM
P.S. We note that the competitive tech limitations of the i760, as well as its tardy release, aren't Samsung's fault. After all, Sammy didn't design this handset. VZW did.
Went to a kiosk in the mall yesterday and spotted a rep w/ a i730. He said he was pumped about the 760 but had no idea when it's coming out. VZW basically gives them no notice about new products except for an "intranet" website. It was actually a cool page and lists a number up-and coming phones. Some didn't even has released dates pinned to them yet - just details about the phone.
Unfortunatly - no i760 even listed. He said he knew the date of the xv6700 at least a month in advance (almost just as we found out here) so he started telling people to "wait" if they wanted a PDAPhone but didn't like the i730 (so they didn't lose the customer totally).
None the less, he's waiting for that to pop up on his system so he can get excited about waiting ANOTHER month. I got his number (insert joke here) so I call him if we break the release date news before he gets it.
It's annoying b/c it's almost as if they are treating the iPhone as a music machine/phone rather than a PDA. Each company should have had a big campaign to tell the world that their phones can DO MORE and still have the thing look smooth. Hell I have a i730 but when I saw the commercial - it looked smoother than mine.
VZW: what does the iPhone do that is already outdone by a WM5/6 machine? EVERYTHING!! We know it - but the world doesn't. Just make it right. Imagine if Verizon could advertise the other apps the phone could run.
The new i760!!!!
It Plays Divx
Removeable media
Removable battery
Connect to your desktop from your phone
Watch TV (slingbox)
Use it as a GPS to navigate around citites.
Change channels on any TV!
Rip DVD's and watch them on the phone!
Use it with Myspace
I'd also advertise the best WM5/6 games like Tiger Woods golf.
They'd sell these out it a heartbeat. Think of the iPhone commercial but being on IM and editing a myspace page - using a gps and playing Madden on your phone.
Did anyone notice that they dropped the Silver Q from the website today? It was up there yesterday. They also moved up the Black Q to the top above the PN-820. Possible positioning for another addition but really means nothing...thought you might find that somewhat interesting over and above all of the date speculation.
Those devices are all on close-out now. That is why they removed it from the website. Aside from the WX and 8830 there are no true PDA's available from VZW. The i730 is gone (atleast in New England) and i830 is direct fulfillment only. 6700 is on close-out and all but gone in most areas. It's time to release it, and I can't imagine them holding off any longer, regardless of the GIN issue (which is supposed to be resolved by Q3, assuming things stay on track)
I know there are PDA's that are ready for launch, I just can't figure out why they won't atleast start the groundwork for them. Maybe the 760 is a sleeper and they're going to just spring it on us. I trust my sources, but they don't know everything and can't predict what the corporate execs will do from one week to the next.
VZW has a brief window to get this accomplished before they fall out of the game. I know they're excited about the new chocolates and other "cool" VCast devices, but they've got the data network and they're squandering it away on Mobile Web 2.0 and VCast Music / Videos. Where's the big push on data they spoke of at the beginning of the year? I swear it's like they heard iPhone (sorry!) and crapped their pants. It's not that great of a phone, and instead of trying to react to it, they need to stick to what they do best. Full steam ahead on the GIN for PDA's, that's going to put them ahead of the game. Release the next-gen devices and stop worrying about what other companies are doing. That's what they've said and done before, I don't know why this is any different.
I bluffed a bit and asked my corporate rep about the i760 or incentives to stay w/ verizon w/ the iPhone being released. Below is the response I got:
"Andrew,
Thank you for contacting me.
I know the iPhone looks like the coolest phone on the market right now but please don't forget how slow the device truly does operate when it comes to using it for Maps, internet, etc. You will be using AT&T edge network versus our Evdo network.
The 15% does come off the charge of $79.99. I would like to suggest the $99.99 plan for 450 minutes, unlimited e-mail, AND unlimited text messaging to ANY carrier. Your 15% discount would also come off that price.
Here is the bad news: We have not launched the I 760 yet. :o( And I'm not sure that there is a set date for it.
I hope you decide to stay with the Nation's most reliable network. (cheezy I know). Please let me know.
Thanks so much!
Nina "
The discussion of the % off doesn't really apply to the i760 but you can see that Nina noted that she does not yet know a date. (Smiley face in the email and the line about cheezy are all original to the email).

man oh man... vzw has 4 hot pdaphones so close to release it seems (i760, xv6800, smt5800, q9m) - just release them so we dont have to hear anymore about that "i" thing anymore!!!
i feel vzw will have the best lineup of pdaphones of any of the carriers once these are all launched and obviously the i760 is the flagship of them.
maybe they have change their plans and are going to release them all on the same day (although that goes against what they currently do) and show everyone everyone how amazing their lineup is and blow the doors off the competition!
vzw - just release/say/do SOMETHING soon!!!
If it is not released by the end of July, I may be jumping over to the iPhone.
There will be many sw upgrades to the iPhone (at least that's what I'm reading) before the i760 is released.

is that really you mark???
it is a tempting thought though! it does seem like there will be many amazing upgrades for it. my wife now says to me everytime there is a commercial for the iPhone "i cant beleive you didnt go get an iPhone yet" and i keep telling her that verizon has some awesome stuff on the horizon. she actually ended up saying to me the other day "yeah right, you have been waiting for the i760 since last year, you will end up with something else"!!!
...I know the Iphone looks like the coolest phone on the market right now but please don't forget how slow the device truly does operate when it comes to using it for Maps, internet, etc. You will be using AT&T edge network versus our Evdo network...
Of course, if you live and work in a NON-EVDO area, this argument hold no water.
In two years, their EVDO network has not crept any further south or north (we're equidistant between Washington and Richmond). While locally Sprint IS running an EVDO network.
