I'm in a contract with VZW but I can just get a second acct for my biz with ATT and use that instead of having to wait for VZW to give us the 760 or the 6800 which is now clearly at the end of it's manufacturer's product life cycle.

6800 replacement? End of it's manufacturer's life cycle?! Never heard of such a thing. Stop smoking crack.

Oh, and when you refer to 3G, be sure to tell us which network (3G on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, etc...)
You know Diar, I was thinking the SAME exact thing. I've heard that the 3g network in NYC isn't so bad as I previously had thought. And since the Kaiser is widely being marketed as the sucessor to the Tytn then I might as well just get that. I'm in a contract with VZW but I can just get a second acct for my biz with ATT and use that instead of having to wait for VZW to give us the 760 or the 6800 which is now clearly at the end of it's manufacturer's product life cycle. Kaiser is an august release right? Hmm sounds like it'd be a nice anniversary present from my wife haha
my two years with VZW are up this month so i'm a free agent. i am about 99 percent sure i'm jumping on the Kaiser. seeing how the Kaiser bests the i760, i'm fairly certain the Kaiser right now will match or exceed the future specs of whatever phone VZW will release. and that's leads to another problem i have with these guys.
the real problem with VZW's delays is evident with the i760 itself - they are essentially building in a lower hardware threshhold for their phones. the decisions to release phones are probably made a year or mroe in advance based on phones current when they make a decision. but the time that passes between their selection and the release can be substantial, as we're seeing. there's no reason VZW isn't releasing a phone right now that matches the Kaiser. however, it appears they don't mind lagging behind other carriers in the feature-set of their phones, maybe for financial reasons....*cough* VZ Navigator *cough*
for those who wait for the i760, they will be using that phone for AT LEAST the next two years, if not longer as those of us with i730s are experiencing. can you imagine what HTC and the iPhone will have available on their phones in a year or 18 months, not to mention two years? when VZW offers the i790 in 2009 or 2010, it will, of course, be a true upgrade to the i760 but chances are it will still lag behind in features to the the future crop of HTC handsets and iPhones.
when the i730 came out it was the BEST phone on the market, period. VZW should have kept it up.
as the competitors continue to sharpen there edge with technology oriented phones, the Goliaths VZW is likely to tumble, the logic is flawed, if you cant offer your customers cheese, your finished, we are the best blah blah, high rates, outdated phones, wake up ypu corporate morons, before you get to experience the genorosity of our state unemployemnt serrvices, im sick of waiting you fools, cough it up, or loose your market share, loose your jobs, loose your house, your kids, your wife, need i go on you idiots, give e the cHEESE ...

No need to be mean, I don't smoke crack thank you very much. I came to my assumption that the 6800 is an old device based on the following info: HTC TyTN - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
there it says that the TyTN is also referred to as the Hermes right?
Well then lets look at this: HTC Kaiser in the wild - Engadget
What does it say there? Hmm oh yes and I quote " it's a hot new trick HTC's Hermes follow-on has up its sleeves."
When something is a follow-up it usually is a replacement. So lets calm down on calling me a crackhead it wasn't appreciated at all. I might not know as much as you guys do but I do my best to make sure what I'm saying isn't totally baseless. If you wanna believe the Kaiser and Tytn (aka 6800) are equal devices, God bless. Personally I don't think they are.
I thought this forum was a place where we as a community could talk and exchange ideas. We're all frustrated that the 760 is taking so long and I thought I could share my opinion on how I was leaning towards the Kaiser cuz of VZW's dragging their feet. I guess I was wrong, I'll be sure to keep quiet now, thanks.

And since I was actually replying to a post that talked about ATT's 3g network and since I was talking about the Kaiser being with ATT, that would logically mean that I was talking about ATT's 3g Network wouldn't it?
Sometimes it's better to be silent and thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
I just spoke with a Tech at Verizon who said there will no XV6800 or Samsung I760 before the second week in August.
I'm sure that person knows what she/he is talking about. Sorry for the sarcasm, but the "techs" are the last people we should be listening to. That is well chronicled throughout this thread and many others.
Techs either act clueless or are mis informed based on my experience. I have burned by more than one with troubleshooting and/or replacement assistance.

Dont' be so sensitive man, I was MOSTLY joking.
But let's remove some doubt here.....the "TyTn" is NOT the "Titan". They are 2 totally different phones. So in your own words "totally baseless".
And re: 3G, I'm just tired of people using the generic term thinking it just means HSDPA. It seems a lot of people don't realize EVDO is 3G as well.
Again, try to take this all with a bit of salt, while I may be pointing out some inacuracies, I did not mean to be mean.

You might not smoke crack, but you don't know what you're talking about. The 6800 is not the TyTn, it is the Titan. The TyTn is GSM, and is much different than the 6800, which as you know is not GSM.
I don't believe anything they say either, but I can say that they stand to lose quite a few i730 losers to the Kaiser if it comes out first
This coupled with DIAR argument a few posts above, and I'm ever so slightly on the Kaiser side right now... I'm sure I'll be back and forth up to the minute I make the decision anyway...
I agree with you, but you must realize that VZW is a huge company with a broad user base, so they can have phones with older tech. There gonna make their money anyway. While other companies (cingular, apple) need very high tech phone to compete.

On a side note. My vzw store rep said the phone will be out in the next 6 weeks. He said their delaying it because they still haven't decided if they want to add Vcast (so they can make even more money on the pda's) to the i760.
On an even another side note, I can't just switch phone carriers because of the family, gf and other people are on Verizon. But the Kaiser looks nice and i would get it if i was on whatever carrier supports it.
ok im done...

You do know that AT&T has the largest subscriber base don't you?
Well, with 700,000 iPhone sales, I'd be willing to bet AT&T got close to retaking the crown. Either way, saying that VZW is a "hugh" company with a broad user base in comparison to AT&T makes no sense. Both are huge with a broad user base.
"You do know that AT&T has the largest subscriber base don't you?"
Didn't know that but I still cant switch anyway but gps is nice even though Im fine with using the google maps on my i730 as my google maps. I kind of actually perfer it that way, instead it dictating the direction i should go. I learn the streets much faster, especially when im in a new city
