Ok so because of the newest FCC information on the iPhone being published it got me thinking. Apple asked that the FCC not reveal its photographs and other information until June 29th, 2007 through their confidentiality agreement.

So since Samsung requested that a 180 day confidentiality agreement be placed on the i760 on January 17th, 2007, the information should be released on July 17th right????

If this is the same thing that Apple did, it should mean the i760 will be release on or before the 17th of this month!!!!

Lets hope

That does not mean that Verizon cannot release this prior to the 180 days...it was just a vendor request to the FCC to fulfill maximum confidentiality guidelines. I do not have any examples....does anyone else?

The extension dates are generic in length, they do not necessarily relate to a release date.

They can request FCC short term confidentiality for 45 days at a time, for up to 180 days, from the time the device is APPROVED by the FCC, which means that I think the latest request the Samsung did/or was given based upon their "blank" request they did to begin with, gives them confidentiality 180 days from March 30, 2007, which is roughly 6 month, so this short term confidentiality could go until (roughly) September 30, 2007. Now this doesn't mean the FCC can't extend it longer if they choose, since they obviously don't care about upholding their rules that they placed about marketing a device/publicly announcing a device.

Anyway, for more information, check out the FCC sticky, as it explains this in extreme detail, including a letter you can send via e-mail or fax. It is just stupid that an organization like FCC creating guidelines, and not following them... [/end rant]

So we won't be able to read anything until it's released, or as late as September 30...

To crmealey:

Your research into the number of posts for the latest and greatest was interesting, to say the least! If your theory was correct, you should have divided your post up into at least three or four postings to help get us to the magic number faster!!!

To Michael and the other Samsung Masters:
CR is absolutely correct in stating that you and the other Yodas in the i730 (soon to be 760) neighborhood have a devoted following/fan club! Where would I/we be without you all!!! I am looking forward to the magic you can work when the i760 is released.

To Verizon:
2 years is too long to wait! Move your !*@#(# and release the @#$#@$ phone already!

Yeah - that was a long one. Probably should divide ramblings like that up a little, eh? Here's to getting closer to the "magic number"

Interesting data...I also owned the Kyocera 7135 an wow is there a big difference in features/screen resolution/form factor with the upcoming i760.

I have my i730 and wireless mouse with a 2gb SD card on EBay now with 5 hours left. Using this to fund my new i760. I hope the pricing is reasonable and will also use my $100 credit to reduce the out-of-pocket.

Now I'm scrambling to find a phone that I can use in the interim and Verizon states it has to be another PDA phone for me to switch ESN's on line. Otherwise they charge me $20 for them to do it...what a pain.

The things we need to do to move up in this technological world.

Dave

This is somewhat off-topic, but I'm just curious. I've been checking Cell Phones, Mobile Phones and plans for Personal - Verizon Wireless lately to see if the i760 pops up there, and I just noticed today that they have the black moto q on there for free. On their regular site, its like $300. Does anybody know if testman shows "future" prices or are they just bogus?

That looks like a mistake to me...it's very likely that post was intended for the i760 and they are in the process of posting it now.

Good new, possibly. I spoke to my source and she did some digging around and said that it is supposed to be released this month. July. Clearly this isn't a set-in-stone thing, but it's definitely something to keep our hopes up.

You can search easily by going to google and seaching:

sch-i760 site:vzw.com
or
sch-i760 site:verizonwireless.com

"sch-i760" site:testman.verizonwireless.com

I tried without the sch and without the dash as well - nada. Google should search the whole site. I was hoping to find a manual.

Verizon poised to launch LG VX8550? - Engadget Mobile

I wonder what impact this has on the i760 then...
Looks like this might be meant to compete (and I use that term very loosely) with iphone.

Different classes of device. They normally won't release two business class devices at the same time, like the Blackberry and i760, or the i760 and 6800...

The LG isn't a business class device, so I don't think that would matter...

That's 2 of the Holy Trinity of smartphones: durability, performance and style. While the iPhone is tops in style, Verizon could have made some hay over those remarks about durability and performance (at least until the iPhone 2.0)....IF they had the i760 out now instead of monkeying around with GIN and marketing dates.

By the way, after seriously thinking about AT&T's network, I was all set to wave the white flag and just wait around for whenever VZW deems it's highest-paying customers - US - worthy of an upgrade. However, I'm learning from folks that AT&T's network might not completely suck as much as I thought here in New York metro area (and I'm hearing it's 3G network is actually faster than EVDO). If this positive word-of-mouth holds up about AT&T that Kaiser will be mine.

You know Diar, I was thinking the SAME exact thing. I've heard that the 3g network in NYC isn't so bad as I previously had thought. And since the Kaiser is widely being marketed as the sucessor to the Tytn then I might as well just get that. I'm in a contract with VZW but I can just get a second acct for my biz with ATT and use that instead of having to wait for VZW to give us the 760 or the 6800 which is now clearly at the end of it's manufacturer's product life cycle. Kaiser is an august release right? Hmm sounds like it'd be a nice anniversary present from my wife haha

I heard late Q3/early Q4 for the Kaiser from my AT&T sales guy. He also said that they are looking at i-mate pda's to release sometime in early to mid Q3 2007.

I think I'll just wait even if the 760 comes out tomorrow. I guess I've grown tired of VZW delaying and delaying for no real reason. GIN does not equal a vaild reason...I know they've never announced release dates but it's not like this info isn't public knowledge. The 760 has some great features but the 2mp camera and the 64mb of Ram just aren't enough for me anymore. They might have been say 2 weeks ago but now that I know the Kaiser is coming out with a 3mp camera, 128 of ram and built in gps, why would I wait for the 760 or the 6800? Its so sad that we're going to get the 6800 just a month or so before it's replacement comes out! I'll prob keep my original number at vzw for phone calls but for data and what not, I think I'll switch to ATT and get an unlocked Kaiser that I can use anywhere in the world...
