Bye VZW,
I just can not live with reseting i730 3-4 times a day,
and still have lost calls.
And it looks like there not a near ending.
Probably you need to fire all of you QA engineers, they seemed spend much longer time, but still release buggy products.
If I were VZW responding to you, I'd inform you that we have other PDA phones to replace your i730. Your choice to leave is due to your inflexibility in product selection.
Also, not that you should have to, but have you tried a fresh reload of the OS?
Speaking from the other side of the fence, I honestly don't believe the problem is with their QA or their engineers, it's with the fact that they have to Verizonize the dang thing.
Either way, I have a good working Q until such time another phone is available.
Speaking of Q, how'd you get Dark Gray on Verizon Miata?
Sure, just pay more and I get another round of testing their product.
I tried hard reset which erases all of the software I installed. And I lost call the first day.( before I load any of my own software ).
Talking about "Verizonize", when they put their name and logo on the phone, guess whom the phone represents. It is their product under their name. And when it sucks, the name sucks too.
I started from the i700 and followed along. For the past few years, we were repeating the sames story on new phone release, new OS release, which is -- extra long waiting, and buggy product.

What may be buggy is the 3rd party software you're installing on your device.

In all reality, I am happy that several people are leaving Verizon. That means I won't have a problem getting the new i760 when it comes out. So see you later, have a nice day.
Go to at&t, go to T-Mobile....heck even go to Sprint. I said the same thing 2 years ago when I left. Said to myself...I need direct connect. Then a hurricane came. You know who was the only cellular provider after the hurricane. Yup you guessed it Verizon.
Everyone gets so upset when something does not come out as planned. Great the iPhone is out friday, let me go sit in line for 7 hours to get a mediocre phone that just looks cool.
Anyways, I am like the rest of you. I can't wait for the i760 to come out, but by getting upset doesn't make it go any quicker. Be patient and the time will come.
On the bright side, another good thing about this delay is that it'll give us time to save up to pay for the phone. It should be around what, 400 or so when it comes out? Maybe more?
If you were indeed running a totally clean i730 - fresh after hard reset, no third party software installed - then if you "lost call the first day" it wouldn't be because of the phone, but most likely due to marginal signal wherever you were located.
Although VZW has the best coverage of all the carriers (imho), that does not mean that there are not certain areas and pockets of little or no coverage. Depending on the terrain of the area in which you are at, the type of building you may be in, and many other factors, you can have moments of interrupted signal.
I have excellent coverage where I am located, but I can tell you that on many occasions, when I travel over a certain bridge which runs across a river in a valley, I can almost always - not every time but most times - count on a minimal signal, and sometimes will drop a call if I am on the call while going over the bridge.
Verizon, and others, fight the constant battle of trying to get more towers erected to allow for greater coverage, and everyone wants greater coverage, but no one wants to look at a cell tower in their back yard.
But, once again, we are way off topic. To bring this back on topic, the i760 won't have any better coverage than the i730. Hopefully the lack of external antennae on the i760 won't affect it's reception, but until we actually have the phone in our hands, we won't know.
You know, I am looking forward to the i760, xv6800, and whatever else comes along, and I in no way would buy an iPhone even if I could have one here, so I have no reason other than to state the truth, but there sure are quite a few Verizon apologists here!
I predict no i760 next month. We will wait, and still be debating here at the same date in July of an August release... its just how it goes when your waiting on VZW for a hopeful release.

I just spoke to the corporate sales rep for my client one hour ago.
He is setup down in the lunch area to sell service, hardware, features etc...
He said the i760 will be out mid July.............

Jay I know as much as you want your birthday present so bad, I wish I could send you an i760 . I am switching carriers. To be honest and all jokes aside I honestly have had it with VZW. All the stuff in signing NDA's, taking my personal time to help them find problems in phones, chat back and forth with VZW developers and then get let down by the very same people that you "think" you trusted.....I can't lie to myself or to others. I feel like I was "used". Life goes on Jay, I have been loyal to VZW since the time it was called Airtouch way back when the service was lousy and when they barely had any decent cell phones. So when I look back and ask myself how much time I "donated" to the cause of making a "company" get rich with NO return for me, I think I was a fool. Wouldn't you think so? NOW I am really starting to believe that VZW doesn't give a darn about anybody's advice or feed-back or customer loyalty. As long as their "bottom-line" is fine they are happy. Crippling stuff on sets just so they can squeeze more blood out of the "peasants" in their kingdom is all they do.
That said, BT and Wi-Fi is NOT crippled on the i760. It will be delayed for at least two weeks from the launch of iPhone.
I am venturing into the GSM land as I can play with ANY unlocked phone to my hearts content and stay up many nights "tweaking" stuff just so I can break the phone and then put it back together !!!!! I have scaled down my plan with VZW to just a simple $39.99 a month plan NO data or internet services NO V-Cast NO TV No music download NO NOTHING. My contracts up and signing off.
I will still be here fussing around with PDA's and still help out members when needed. I have way too many "true friends" here and I CANNOT let them down.
I hear what you're saying man. GSM huh. I've considered it myself. What do you think about the SGH-i760 on TMobile? As far as fussing around with a PDA any chance you can help get WM6 on the i730 with a ROM dump from any of the myriad of devices you've come into contact with?
I have to say that I was being a little cynical earlier in the postings about possibly pulling up stakes and going to some place like Sprint or AT&T, but why? Like a lot of you have mentioned, they have the best service coverage (not the best plans/rates) and for the most part, they are pretty dependable. I guess, I too, will be a willing waiter for this phone, even if it does spill into August (I hope that is not the case).
Is there anyway that we can stop any and all talk of the bloody iPhone? The fact that it is all of the news and all of the web, its exhausting trying to get away from it all.
The problem is, Verizon claims the i730 is their top of the line PDA. IT'S TWO FRIGGIN YEARS OLD! You know what a 2 year old computer is? A paperweight! In 2 years, they haven't come out with anything better? That's pathetic and says more about this company than anything I can type....
Your top of the line product is 2 years old! Think about it. How many other companies could survive that? With how many other companies would you put up with that?
To everyone saying VZW never promised us anything, so we don't have a reason to be upset, I say put the Kool-Aid down.
Just because Verizon never said anything doesn't mean we shouldn't expect anything. VZW's "New Every Two" program is clearly an acknowledgment that most consumers expect to be able to upgrade to newer, more powerful phones within a reasonable time frame. It is their job to deliver them to ALL users...on this score VZW, come July, will have failed miserably. We are well within reasonable-land to expect our carrier to supply us with modern equipment every year...at a minimum every two years. They have had two years to find a replacement for their top-tier customers - US - and they are still beset with delays on this phone. Ridiculous.
VZW has not released any phone as good as the i730. So for users like us looking for a new phone over these past two years, we have had to take a step back to a Treo, a Q or the PN-820. There has not been a viable upgrade option for its top-tier customers - US - and that is not acceptable.
FWIW, the iPhone reviews are pouring in: mostly positive
Diar, I did send my Rep an email based on your comments demanding an answer as to WHEN i will be able to use my NE2 that they promised we could use. and as you said, certainly not on a Q, PN, Treo etc.

dangerous, I understand your frustration but a "Rep" is not going to risk his/her job by telling you anything other then soon. They are told by their managers that they will get fired if they leak any information.
The release of the iPhone is going to be the start of changes to come to VZW's and other sell service providers marketing and manufacturer relations business model.

I also agree with DIAR. And not only because of the 2 year program but also because I've gone through 2 i730's, through 3 batteries, 3-4 lockups daily, the tethering doesn't work really at all. I really want a PDA that delivers and is very reliable/stable with good battery life. I suppose that is too much to ask for.
I've been putting up with the i730 and not switching for the last 6 months or more because of this blind hope that a newer, better, more reliable device is coming soon. I'm about done waiting as well. I am researching other phones and carriers, not really because I want to leave, but because I need a reliable PDA. I've even thought of going to the dark side and looking at the [gasp] blackberry 8830.
