Rom update via memory card?

Alright so I got the infamous 'clearing data hanging at verizon logo' error on my I760. The phone will not connect or sync with my computer. The only other option is to do a rom update via memory card.

I know this is possible with almost all PDA devices. The rom update image file must be named something specific so that when you boot the device into boot loader/rom update, the image will self install.

Does anybody know what the file name must be? What about rom update images, does anybody have them?

never seen a ROM update that can be done from a mem card on the i760... just through a USB connection from a Windows PC

this thread is from 2009 after the wm6.1 was made available.

i'm somewhat confused on what is the maximum space in a storage card the i760 can handle.

i've used the search function and found an sd hack that allows this phone to see a 4gb card.

in another thread it states that wm6.1 on the i760 allows for an 8gb memory card.

i'm getting ready to purchase one and would like to know that answer.

The 4GB hack was for WM6 - once we went to 6.1 4GB was immediately working.

I do believe some have used 8GB cards, but I have no personal experience with this. If you can find the thread try to get the same model/type to make sure its compatible.

Maybe someone here using an 8GB card could recommend a manufacturer/model.

I am no longer an i760 user, but when I was I was using a Sansdisk 16GB micro SDHC without any issues under 6.1.
