Yes MGuzzy, it is definitely annoying...
Here is what I tried most recently:
In ActiveSync I deleted the established relationship with my i760.
I then ran ScanPST on the one and only PST file located in my Outlook data file.
With ActiveSync set up to sync everything except WMCenter and Microsoft's One Note, I connected once again and established a new relationship.
As it was syncing I saw that it found 237 contacts - and showed sync in process
Then it got to the Calendar and took forever to move on - I'm thinking, "Great, it found some stuff, right??"
Then email portion synced
Then it quickly ran through tasks
It showed 60 notes found and showed the sync process going on
Then finally it showed that it found 38 files and showed the syncing going on for those.
When it was all said and done, I looked on my i760 and found
Contacts - less than 50
Calnedar - nothing, nada, zippo
Emails - only 6
Tasks - nothing
Notes - they all showed up
Files - they all showed up
(pulling out what little hair I have) It just doesn't make any sense.
FYI, I do have the settings to show all calendar, show all categories in task, show all emails, etc so that it's not a simple matter of the view not being right....
I'm racking my brain - I'm not a computer or electronics newbie by no means and that is only making it seem worse...usually I can figure this stuff out but...
My initial thought was that you are on the right track with it finding/syncing another PST file because why would it have some contacts (a list but not my current full list), a few emails, and other items.
I just can't seem to find where it is getting this stuff from.
When I look in my Outlook file (located in something like C

ocs & Settings/user/localsettings/app data/micro/outlook) I see the following folders/files:
extend.dat (video CD movie) - that's a strange file in this folder????
~last~.sharing.xml.obi (OBI file)
20090629 backup.bak (BAK file - created when I ran ScanPST)
Outlook.sharing.xml.obi (OBI file)
20090629 backup.log (text doc)
~20090629 backup.pst.tmp (TMP file)
Outlook.xml.kfl (KFL file)
20090629 backup.pst (outlook personal folders)
