I am also in the boat looking for a replacement for my i760. I really don't want to switch providers from Verizon, but looking at the phones that are available right now, I just don't see anything that tops the i760 that is available. I got it on release day and I've been thrilled with it.
That being said, I watched the vid for this new Sammy and it looks NICE! I'd so buy it today if it were available. The specs look nice, looks very clean, and it is about to as close as you are going to find as a i760 "replacement" with Verizon. I just don't want to have to wait another six months for a phone like this to be released, if at all. I hate how tight lipped they can be sometimes on these releases.
I am going to wait for that phone even if it takes 6 months to 1 year. I went ahead and bit the bullet and did a hard reset and then reconfigured all my apps manualy. I had been using the SPB Backup to restore a previous image. Anyways, I have an image with no bugs (so far) so I believe I have resolved any problems.
I have dropped the I760 from high distances on to concrete a few times and it has fallen in the house, office, etc. but it still looks brand new.
I am not going to upgrade phone for the sake of upgrading.
I upgraded from the I730 to I760 because I wanted a full slide out keyboard other than the small one on the I730.
I have a godo phone now so I can wait until the new Samsung Omnia Pro comes out and stay way from the touchscreens.
I keep checking the Samsung site but haven't found anything yet. I wonder why they don't have a press release out yet? Samsung showed it at the conference you would think there would be a press release.

It is the closet to what I want. However, all things being equal, I wish they would make an upgrade of the i760 with the numeric keyboard on front with more memory and a faster processor.
As much as I personally disklike the iphone, at least they keep the same model and keep updating it.
All the other phone makers seem to see how many different models they can come out with.
Why not name the I760 something and keep the same basic phone and making it better every couple of years.
I dont want a completely different phone every 2 years. I think Samsung would be better served to have 2 smart phones, one that is the all touch screen and one that is has the slide out keyboard IMO.
You do make a point. It seems like the WM manufacturers tend to have ADD and rarely stick with a design from year to year. This is something Palm did, that Blackberry does pretty much, and yes Apple does.
Android phone manufacturers on the other hand keep the same design and then remove something vital LIKE THE KEYBOARD!
As much as I do like the i760 I think if I had my wish I'd have a slimmed down i730 with a nicer screen and faster Processor and greatly improved UI ...
I think I'd love a phone similar to this form-factor, but with Android.

Samsung Omnia II and B7610 OmniaPRO to ship this summer
03 July, 2009
WinMo fans surely have a lucky week as today Samsung officially announced that their latest Omnia family phones, i.e. Samsung I8000 Omnia II and Samsung B7610 OmniaPRO will be commercially available earlier than rumored, and most importantly, they will cost less than it was expected.
I do like the way the new Samsung looks but I see no advantage to upgrading at this point since my I-760 is tweaked the way I like it. Again, I use the phone for business so outside of syncing with Exchange and making phone calls, I really hate to get a phone that doesnt come with the WM 6.5 and then upgrade to it. This means setting up a new phone twice.
I lie the Omnia II and when my I760 dies, that may be the phone I purchase.
I still am dislinking the fact that cell phones have become such disposable items that you need to throw them away every two years.
One thing I don't like about the keyboard, they switched the shift and the FN/Alt button from what we are use to in the i760... why?
There is no standard keyboard layout for smartphones! I'll miss a dial pad on the i760... but the rest of the specs of this phone will help ease the pain!

Samsung's other announcements today include the Omnia Pro B7320, a slab-style Windows Mobile phone with a keyboard; the Omnia Pro B7610, which has both a touch screen and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard; and the Omnia Lite B7300, a touch-screen Windows Mobile phone. None of those phones will come to the U.S., Samsung execs said.
I hope so too.. I recall reading that article back on the 15th when it was first posted.. I also read some others at the same time that implied it would be release in the US... I guess we'll see.

it's gotta be BS, they already made a qwerty keyboard version that is different than the french version. They would be losing a ton of profit by not sending those phones to the US...
