So if I already have 6.1, should I update to MR3? That's what I'm getting at. Everything has been very vague at this point regarding that.

Thank you for this thread. It helped me identify that my i760 was not connecting to EV.

Updated to V.BJ10 and all is super. Longer battery live now, probably because it is not searching all the time for EV. Also much faster connect speeds and a better signal bar. Happy camper here.

I upgraded to MR3 and now have 50% less batery life, all other settings being consistent (baklight, powersave, etc). Changed batteries with same result. Anyone else with the same issue?

MR3 helped my battery life.

We'll see what it does on the replacement I have coming, if it isn't already installed, although I assume/hope that it is.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread, but I'm currently upgrading and it has been going on for four hours. I called a tech after the first hour and they said it could take up to three hours. I called at three hours and he first said disconnect it, but then checked with somebody and said if I did disconnect the phone would be useless. Should I just let this thing run forever?

As long as the PDA portion updated properly you are fine to disconnect it.

I had to disconnect 3 or 4 times during the phone update portion before it finally decided to just update.

Since this was bumped I guess I'm still wondering about the answer to this? I see just on this page 1 person claiming worse battery life and another claiming better. Is there a consensus on this having any benefit beyond the EVDO issue?

I personally saw a difference in speed and stability. I went from 6.0 to the initial 6.1 (MR2) to 6.1 (MR3) and had the hung up problem as other did both times, but it manage to update and it feels faster and smoother. I updated to MR3 version a couple of days ago.

I did the M3 update today from the initial 6.1 upgrade (originally had 6.0) and all went well. I had to, as with the initial upgrade to 6.1, restart the upgrade after it hung on the phone download (soft-reset, enable USB in Active Sync, Restart update).
After reinstalling a few things, I tried WiFi (someone else had this problem) and it gave me "page cannot be displayed" error. A check of the connection settings showed it set to "Work" instead of "Internet". Changing it to Internet fixed the problem for me.

I don't see any difference, so far, from the M2 (I guess it was called) update but will keep looking. My phone was stable before but I had to switch to the extended battery in order to go all day without a recharge.

If you want to use the phone as a modem, chk the sticky (WiFi Router #166) with my update on installing Internet Connection Sharing. Disclaimer: You will require a data plan or be charged for usage.
