thanks for the advice, but the wifi is off, it looks like it is searching for tower data it grays out the EVDO when it is doing the arrows thing.
this is exactly what my first phone did when I went to WM6.1
Aaahhh.. Was a "shot in the dark". have you done a hard reset? *228 then a 1
then do a *228 and a 2 (the *228 1 should do both, but the *228 2 does update the PRLS).
So I just did my first hard-reset ever on my 1-year-old phone. And it made a BIG improvement to the growing myriad of things that had stopped working right.
So, I'm still on WM60 for the moment (still debating the risk/benefits of WM61) but my questions are these:
1. Is it possible that those who've said their phone got better after upgrading to WM61 perhaps benefited just from the hard-reset that they did as part of that process? i.e. was it the hard-reset or the new OS that helped most? (excluding the MEID/Nortel folks of course)
2. After you do a hard-reset (or an OS upgrade flash) is it sufficient to do *228+#2 only? (not #1) That's what I did and it seems OK. In fact my phone was working great right after the hard-reset, before I did any *228 at all.
Sorry if these questions are slightly OT, but this seemed like the best active thread to ask them in.
Thanks.

A hard reset will always fix any miss-configurations which can occur over time.
It is also advisable to run the PRL update every month or so or after a hard reset. Why the phone doesn't do this automatically is beyond my comprehension.
My personal opinion is that the 6.1 update is better overall than running 6.0. However, if you aren't having any issues and you aren't interested in any of the features in the 6.1 update then there is no reason to change what you have.
To be clear, the many problems my phone had developed were most certainly a result of MS OS/software "quality" and NOT configuration issues.
I had so many, I won't list them all, but one for example was that the camera (application) could no longer be started at all... just would hang. Now, it, along w/ 10 or so other key features, are fine again.
Ok so I did the upgrade and have good and bad come of it. The upgrade got stuck just like every other verizon update, tried to restart it but says something to the effect that phone was upgraded and cant run it again.
checked the start>settings>system>version

I have had this exact same camera problem. After the I went to MR3 I tested the camera and it was back. I then restored my settings and applications through SPB and the camera bug is there again. UGH!
Anyhow, I suspect it is something in my configuration or one of my applications. If it disappears for you again we ought to see what we have in common (most of my applications are listed below).
I got the xv6800 sent to me and moved my NE2 date back all for an update to fix my no EVDO a month later?!?
Good thing I still have my i760. I am going to try it. I miss that black little phone with the phone keypad on the front. And to think I was contemplating in another month going to a touch pro....
Now I can get more use out of my innocase from Seidio that I got not to long after my screen got cracked and my replacement wasn't working with EV.

I updated from WM60 to MR3 24 hours ago, no problems so far. I was real happy with the i760 before the update other than rare lockups, and everything seems just as good as it was and a slight bit faster. Battery life is the same or maybe even better. EVDO worked well before and still works the same. Time will tell how reliability is or if I've overlooked an issue, but as of now I'm glad I ran the update. I was disappointed that my Opera 8.65 reg code no longer worked but they sent me a new one by the next day. It's interesting how many different experiences people are having with this update.
I had some issues running the update mostly I think due to Samsung's buggy USB drivers. But, I'm not certain. Don't know if it was me or VZW but had a real hassle getting *228 to work properly. Must be all those BB Storms getting squared away on the network (LOL).
Battery life is possibly a bit worse for me but time will tell. All-in-all, perhaps a slight improvement overall in my 760.

The WM 6.1 helped me save money, now I don't have to worry about going over on minutes or text messages. After I updated my phone with WM 6.1 the call/text feature stopped working because Verizon was unable to authenticate it (oddly enough, the internet still works). I spent an hour with Verizon tech support trying to resolve this. I performed a hard reset, loaded the update, performed another hard reset, *228... We found we were unable to enter a new AKEY number through the **772 option, which appears to be the last option. On a good note, the technician did find a replacement i760.

I'm only interested in the improved Blue Tooth. Anyone have a better experience with MR3? My BT constantly "forgets" the BT profile for my headset.

I would have to say by BT is now worse than before. Constantly losing my headset, inability to pair with my BlueAnt. as far as BT goes, a step back for me.

After the update to 6.1, my i760 developed a problem where it would randomly not wake up from sleep. I upgraded to MR3 recently. I've been running MR3 for 3 days without this issue. It seems like they've fixed it. Horray!

I've had the same problem (can't wake from sleep after 6.1 upgrade), and was hopeful that MR3 provided a fix. I upgraded to MR3 on 11/21, and still experience the deep sleep problem several times a week. No discernable difference for me; hope it's a true fix for you.
Same here, I found the cause to be some applications I had installed must have been comflicting. I uninstalled PocketCM and use iContact now with no problems.
Another new "feature" from this release is that Outlook 2003 will NOT update calendar info like it did before. (this is in addition to not sending a second set of DTMF)
