tried the upgrade and it did the OS portion fine. I am now stuck at the "PDA update finished. Phone update start." screen. The phone shows "Do not disconnect. Entering Phone download." It hasn't moved in over 10 minutes. I can't close the program(PC) and the phone won't turn off.
what steps should i try now?
I haven't done the upgrade myself but I've read this MR3 thread and the other one called "WM61 Install Issues" (or something like that) and I think between the two of them you'll find your answers. I think you're experiencing the same thing several others have. Good luck.
mine came new loaded with the new software and it is doing the sending info arrows thing again, battery life is horrible...
I don;t know how VZW is going to fix this as I want a PDA Phone for the functions, but do not want their data plan and will not pay for it! they assured me that this new phone would not have the problems of the previous 760's !
Once again Verizon is screwing us and not doing their job.
I got phone replacment and the software installed on was bj14, and it had white sticker saying erprom bj14 installed. With that eprom version phone was running smooth and without any problems. After installation update from
Verizon website is slow as hell it hangs, it syncs every other time....its horrible.
EtherBoo -- yes...this is a complete reflash of the protected ROM...it will re-write that and then load that into the phone operating memory. It is actually a very good idea to do a hard reset before and after doing the update.
Version -- the most current version (MR3) is BJ10. The prior version (MR2) was BD14. To my knowledge, there never was a BD10 nor a BJ14. Remi -- if those labels say BJ14, then we have something new in play...
The links from post #1 in this thread still work for accessing both installers (XP and Vista). There are also some links in other posts within this thread that take you directly to one or the other. Be careful when reading VZW's documentation -- it remains incorrect in that it refers to both BJ10 and BD14...but others here who have run it have verified that it updates to BJ10 (the most current release).
I think I'll wait to see what this update does. I have the 6.1 update and all is peachy. I'll wait.
Yes - I wonder if we could ask that IF someone finds a benefit to this upgrade apart from repairing people's connection problems that they make a new thread to announce it.
I keep checking this thread waiting to find out some improvement to the OS for those with no MEID issues.

My i760 upgraded and the version is BJ10. I had no error during the upgrade. Now, I can use nearly everything except for the browsing via wifi. Although I can connect wireless network (check the router and find MAC address of the phone) , I only get message: "The page cannot be found. Check the name and try again", tried other browser but still can't surf internet via wifi. What should I do ??? please help !!!!
To me the name BJ10 Vs. BJ14 would point to the fact that the BJ10 was actually a older ROM, however I think that it did not have some of the Issues that the BJ14 had and it is a last ditch effort to salvage all of the devices in stock.
so in short IMO BJ10 is older software released at a latter date due to issues with the BJ14 ROM
I'm not aware of any software revision scheme that would start at a large # and progressively get smaller. ( you would be forced to go negative in this case after 10 more attempts)
I think I've encountered my first problem from the BJ10 upgrade. My voicemail dtmf tones does not seem to want to send the second set unless I push the send button. Still playing with settings.
