So has anyone found out exactly what changes in BJ10? I seem to have no issues with EVDO here in NJ, but if there's some other benefit I'd like to upgrade.
I have the original 6.1, but if I do an upgrade can I run SPB backup to restor the phone or do I have to reinstall everything from scratch?
I did exactly that and it worked fine. SPB Backup is awesome. But yeah I made a backup, did the MR3 upgrade, restored the backup, zero issues. All my apps, contacts, etc. were restored like nothing changed, but I confirmed I know have the BJ10 PDA and Phone versions.

I, as well, am waiting -- I, too, have an older i760 and am not affected by the MEID issue. But, I am also pretty sure that they put more fixes into this release...so I am just waiting for more anecdotal information (in this forum) as to what folks who do adopt are finding (since the VZW release notes are STILL for MR2). Plus, I am expecting to test-drive a BB Storm once they come out (later this month) so will wait till I have both devices...just in case I should brick the i760 during the update (cannot be without a device).

Great reply! Thank you very much, but what advantages have you seen from the original 6.1 release? I'm just wondering if it is worth the time.
OMG...it gets even more comical! VZW has updated the MR release notes, but the link (on Phones & Devices - Verizon Wireless Support) is still titled MR2 (click "Device Software Enhancement List" near the bottom of the page), but the document itself now states MR3 in it's first line, but then goes on to talk about BD14 (which is MR2). So, they took the time to completely re-make the document (it is a totally different doc from before), but only really changed the first line, then saved it as the same document name, and left the real content we all want the same. Amazing. /me sighs...
Well i havent really noticed much. I can say that I have not had one lock up since the upgrade, not that I've had a lot before. Device feels more responsive but it could be that it's a different phone (just got a refurb) or could be my imagination.
Really, all that matters is that it didnt make things any WORSE, so what reason NOT to update.
I wonder why we can't just update our phones with the windows update. I don't have time to check verizon all the time for any updates on my phone. It would be convenient if it just updates automatically with windows update.
Has anyone else noticed a significant drop in battery life after the upgrade?
Usually at the end of the day (10pm) I still have about 70% battery left. yesterday, firstday after the upgrade, at 5pm, I was down to 35% battery life.
usage was the same.
