automatic disconect from internet after send/receive mail?

i want my device to check for new mail on a pop3 server on an hourly basis, but i also want it to disconnect as soon as it is done.... (verizon's quick connect uses minutes)

anyone have any suggestions?

in other words ideal situation

1) mobile client goes to check mail
2) automatically dials isp
3) collects mail
4) disconnects

well im not sure about dialing an isp since i havn't done that in a long time but i use a program called phone alarm to put a 1 min time out for internet connections and i setup my aol using the built in Setup email account on the phone and tell it to check every 60mins... i know there is an add a new modem connection option under connections/m ISP that might take care of the isp part.. just an idea

I have not found a setting in the stock email client or connection settings that will disconnect after a set time or after you receive email. So the only alternative I've found is in third party products like PhoneAlarm that Ocyberbum mentioned. You probably haven't got a lot of response because there really isn't a lot of options for this. It seems that a lot of the features of WinMo phones assume you will have an "always on" internet connection, and I guess an unlimited plan...

I think you can do this with a registry edit.

Check this link: Andrew’s Blog » Auto Disconnecting Idle Data Connections in WM6

I used to do this with my i730 and it worked great. I forget if I did it with my i760 or not.

I use it on my i760 and its worked flawlessly for me. I have my email setup to check for new messages every hour and it works great because after it is done checking, it will disconnect for me and not kill my poor battery!
