Exclamation won't hard reset!! Please help

Ok, my i760 got wet and insurance sent me a new one, while using spb backup to restore the contacts and programs to the new phone, the i760 ran critically low on memory, froze, i canceled the restore because it was not moving for a long time. the phone restarted after cancel, the password on the old phone was different from the password on the new phone. tried hard reset by pushing the red reset button down and the center button, on the four way directional button, for a few seconds. it prompts me with password, neither passwords work... I've read the manual for the phone, it says to hold the two buttons for a few seconds and release the red one first then the other. Are there any other ways to reset since i can't get into the phone? sync wants the phone unlocked first... Any help would be greatly appreciated !

don't hold on the center button for too long after you let go of the red button, it should just be a real quick press and release for the both of them, with the center button released like right after the red button.

I had that issue a while back and hopefully thats just what it is for you

I reset mine a lot because i screw it up a lot... lol The method that works great for me is to hold the center dpad button, poke the red reset button, and release the center button as soon as the "clearing data" message appears.
