Called tech support today for issues with my i760 after the latest ROM updated. now frequently it won't wake from sleep, and also randomly pops up a memory card not installed message.
They said they could send an xv6800. I asked for the Omnia as I don't like HTC phones. she said she would have to check with their supervisor, but most likely they could send it but would have to renew my 2 year and pay the $250 contract price. what a bunch of @#%@#$
I pointed out that the Omnia was $250 while the XV6800 was $300. she said it doesn't matter. I asked her about the extra insurance/warranty I have on the phone, and they said it doesn't matter.
So it's either XV6800 for free, or Omnia for $250 plus extend contract another 2 years. arggggg. or maybe pickup a used i760 off ebay for $100
Call again.. and again.. speak to a supervisor.. they'll let you do it, but you'll have to talk to "customer care" and keep escalating it. You are only being offered the ability to upgrade to the Omnia, which of course means you lose your investment in the i760.
The xv6800 is *NOT* the only phone VZW will let you migrate to, but it IS the only one their front line phone/counter jockeys can offer you. Manager will take care of that, especially if the i760 is still under warranty.
I was @ the VZW store last night to exchange my I760 (typical problems). I've had the phone since it came out, and have lived with the problems for the 10 or so months. VZW rep told me the phone was not available (out of stock for replacement) and suggested the (imo) flimsy 6800. I told him I would wait for "new" stock on the I760. They said it could be weeks - DANG! Well, today I thought I'd give cust supp a call to my delight they have a batch of BRAND NEW I760's available. I should be getting mine after Thanksgiving. I'm assuming it will come loaded with 6.1... Maybe? Only time will tell. It just bums me out that VZW always offers up a less than equal replacement. Go figure. I'll see how this new one is once it comes. I may try to finaggle (sp?) a Touch PRO or I770 if this does not work out (more problems). After all, I did pay a premium price for a premium phone (at the time) that I expected to last at least 2 years without issues.
When you call them, immediately ask to speak with a supervisor, noting your uncomfortable experience with customer service. I noted that I require WM6.1 NATIVE device (not the 6800.) I also mentioned that I needed to be able to dial in a number without sliding or opening anything and that I wanted a candybar phone.
well after hours on the phone with various reps and managers, the best they would do was send me an xv6800. should get it monday. If I have problems with it, I will call and request a i760 or something else as replacement.
I have a business account with 6 lines with them and pay on average $400 a month, I also have the added insurance/extended warranty. can't believe they won't give me anything else.
I called Verizon on saturday because ive been having problems with droping calls. They ended up sending me a new i760 that got here on wednesday. I got everything running and Is running great. Im so glad i didnt have to switch. I love my i760. It came loaded with 6.1 already and its running great =)
I have not been on this forum for awhile so HELLO to those of you that still remember me. My i760 finnaly had too many problems after hard reset's ect. ect. and so VZW sent me the XV6800. It has a very thin black plastic battery cover and I am talking THIN. It was brand new and the sound sucks big time, the speakers buzz and the volum control is a Jog Wheel on the side like the old AM radios we had as kids. I called them back and they agreed with all the problems the XV6800 has and I shipped it back the very next day. They are sending me the Samsung Omnia SCH-i910 which I have wanted sence I read about it a long time ago and posted what I found on this forum, you can find my post's via my nick and or Omnia. The phone will be teh CDMA versiuon which is nice because it has a PXA320 CPU that is 624Mhz and can be OC'd to 800Mhz So I will drop in and tell you how nice it is~
iProb, I miss you and McGuzzy. I was sent to more Dr's at the other end of the state, I am getting tired of needle's and medications so much it dissrups my life Thanks, JASTECH

I don't know about you all, but I have had a horrible experience with my 760. I renewed in May 2008, bought the best phone. The phone lasted 5 months before it wouldn't allign, was very hard to get the touchscreen to respond. VZW sent me a "RFU" unit, which lasted 3.5 weeks, before the "clear" button and the one next to it, and the "1" button became depressed, wouldn't come back out, the screen kept going white, and incoming calls would last .5 of a ring, before going to "missed call." On the 3rd unit now.
I called support to try and upgrade/different phone rather than getting a 3rd replacement 760, I was very polite, calm, and they just simply refused to do anything but keep sending me 760's. I even spoke with a manager who refused to upgrade me. He stated they will continue sending refurbished units until my warranty goes out next May, no option to upgrade.
How can they do this? What a piece of crap this company is.
stanglifemike, Thanks! I like the specs of the Omnia and I already have the ROM just about finished for it. I have a lot of reg tweaks and it is awesome, makes the i760 look like 2 cans and the string, lol...The Omnia outperforms the Liphone 3G and you can watch videos with it plugged into the TV that you took with it. You should come over to our Omnia forum. Thanks, JASTECH

Just wanted to remind those of you who are thinking of getting an Omnia (or who have already gotten one) that Convergent has set up an i900 (Omnia) forum so be sure to check it out.

Does anyone know if verizon has gotten any more 760's in stock for warranty replacement?
I called this past wednesday, they are sending me an xv6800 to replace my failed 760. I went to the local verizon store today and played with the 6800 and really did not like it. (it hung 3 times in the hour I was playing with it, and it had no other software installed on it).
my 6800 is suppose to arrive tomorrow, but I'm hoping I can get another 760. I would call them back again if someone can confirm they recently got a 760 for a replacement. thanks!

I know that Smasung calls this the i900. but is the GSM verion not the i910.
IMO it should be the i900/i910 forum... splitting hairs I know but an uninformed user would know no better... and likely the majority of the users will be i910 users...

What is Convergent? Do they also have a forum re i760's?
Received my brand new (non refurb) I760 this past Friday. Came loaded with 6.1. I've been doing all the "stuff" that would lock up my old phone with no problems - not one soft/hard reset as of yet. Really glad I was able to get another, with all the updates. Kind of leary to install any software, but I will...
