great battery life with me reception awesome no drop calls where i would get with i760 of coarse phones are great the first 3 months will see how it is later 6.1 update went smooth did it on the one before this had no probs either
Did u ask for a 6800 and they were out? Or did they let you choose? Every single Windows Mobile phone on Verizon's website is set to be replaced soon, some this month. Treo 800w is still expected to be one of those.
There is only 1 replacement in the new Verizon Cataloge comming out! We will see!
Good evening all. I'm curious, what are the conditions that need to be met in order to get a 6800 to replace my i760? I purchased my i760 off of E-Bay in January of this year (not directly through VZW), and have been having problems with the screen not automatically turning off, hot battery, etc as of late.
That being the case, I was wanting to know if this was a product recall or simply a fulfilment of a warranty. I do not pay the $5 for insurance on the phone monthly and was wanting to know if I would still be eligible for a replacement phone under a "recall". Hopefully that all makes sense. Thanks in advance for your response!
Was it new, or used? Since it wasn't bought new through Verizon, I bet money they won't replace it! You could give it a shot, but it looks like they are replaceing with 760's again! If it was new, youd have to provide proof of purchase, and go through samsung but yet again u'd get a 760. I don't think there was actually a recall, its just the title of this thread(more a question really)
P.S. On a 400-500 dollar device, be smart pay 5 bucks for the insurance!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't know where you saw that, canecbr600, but I'm excited. But after the Saga comes out, the 6850 and the Omnia are also supposed to be released in November, and then the Treo 800w before January. Eventually also the Touch Diamond...

Looks like the 6850 will be out on the 24th of Nov. (rumor, of course, and I dunno if that is Business sales, website, or stores), and Omnia on Dec. 15. Upcoming Verizon cell phones (Phone Arena)
If you are getting a new 760 from Verizon's latest stock, I would like to buy it from you. Please email me.
Or if I buy one off of Ebay, what do I need to ask the seller about the IMED #? I live in Northeastern Ohio. Am I screwed, or can I get a phone that works in this area?

Reason: Added a question
VZW is replacing my i760 with a Samsung i770 (Saga)
So after 6 calls to VZW Tech support, 1 to customer service, and 2 trips to the local store in NJ, I have them sending me an i770.
My phone bricked after upgrading it to WM6.1 (froze on the Verizon Wireless logo screen.)
Originally they noted that they did not have any i760s in stock. They were going to offer me an xv6800 without touching my 'new every 2' status. I was going to go with that, when they found that they were out of 6800s. At this point I asked to speak with a supervisor, expressing my grief with having been hung up on twice, bounced from store to phone support and back and back again.
The final Tech Support rep that I spoke with said she'd see what else they could offer me, at which point I specified that I needed a WM6.1 device. I also noted that I would not settle for a BB or Palm.
She came back and asked if I had checked out the website to see if there were any phones I was interested in. I gave her the Saga as my top choice, to which she noted that was really all she had that matched my request. They're 'overnighting' it (though it won't be here til Tuesday since it's after 5pm on Friday.
I'll have 30 days to try it out and make sure I like it before I have to send the bricked i760 back to them.
If you're looking to get something other than a crappy 6800, strike now. Don't wait for the Storm, the Omnia, or the 6850.

Did they make you renew your contract or get a data plan?

Nope. I'm on a family plan, but they didn't do any of that. It works on the basis of a broken phone replacement, not an upgrade.♦

It's not through insurance. Then again, my phone is less than a year old, so verizon is willing to exchange it. Older than that and they may have you go to assurion (doubt it though)
Just call them and see if they can replace it. They'll offer you an i760 at first, then when they realize they're out, they'll go with the 6800. They were out earlier, and if they still out, they'll have to see what their options are. Tell them you want the i770 then.
they arent out of i760's anymore. The MEID/Nortel/EVDO issue has been fixed, and they have started supplying i760's again. I just received a refur'd unit this past monday, via Assurion, to replace my previous unit which was having touch screen trouble. Unfortunately, the refurb is ALSO having touch screen trouble. So now they are sending me yet another refurb unit.
Dunno if it's any different for people who are still under warranty vs. the phone being replaced thru insurance, but there definitely does not seem to be any shortage of i760's at this point.
On a side note, they offered me a BB Storm for a sweet deal because I am a longtime customer and since I am having so many problems. I don't know much about bb's to know if I should do this or not.

If they don't reset your NE2 I would say go for it. Worst comes to worst you'll be able to sell the Storm. If you look up the hardware info though, you'll see that it's a MUUUUCH better phone than the i760, regardless of whether or not you prefer having actual buttons.
Insurance has a different supply then Verizon! Verizon did have 760's for the past week, but they may be out again! I have heard of several people needing a replacement for there replacement! I am getting a storm on Friday, I am getting it at the 2 year price, and I am not due for a upgrade. I also won a $100 Verizon gift card through Verizon's Storm Contest.
I called Verizon back today to see about gettng another replacement i760 sent, and was informed that there are no more refurbs in stock.... so they are going to send me a brand new one instead
I expect the new one to arrive by Thursday. If this resolves my issue with the touch screen (the only issue I have had), then I'll hold out til my NE2 is up and get something better like the Omnia or Touch Pro.
