I am also having a ringtone problem. Upgraded to 6.1 OK with all apps working (Pocket Plus, Mobile Shell, MemMaid, PDANet, EWallet, MobiReader, Live Search and Winpoker). The next day my phone wouldn't ring. Phone Options defaulted to a ring I hadn't selected. The majority of the rings now give an error message, "this ringtone file is corrupted or unavailable pleasechoose a different ringtone". I hard reset and it fixed the problem, but it showed up the next day AGAIN. What's weird is some of the more obscure ringtones still work, but about 80% don't. I don't want to hard reset every other day or listen to the really lame midi ringtones.

I am curious. Are your ringtones on the card or are they in main memory?

1. Text message times are off (sending is correct -- receiving is incorrect).
2. Lock is finicky
3. Sometimes I am unable to close a problem (no "x" displays in the upper right hand corner of the screen)
Other than those three issues, nothing else to report right now.
If you put your Auto Update of time zone to manual this might fix your problem. I had the same problem, i think that is what fixed it.
I do not use either of those programs and I have no issues with ringtones. You may be right about those applications.

Main memory. I was able to get them working by going to the file location and holding on it with the stylus until a menu came up which offers "set as ringtone" as an option. It may be Mobile Shell or Pocket Plus 6.1 compatibility as others have eluded to but I don't think so. Everything else is working fine.
the server requires SSL connection. the setting works fine with my current Dell Axim X51v and it was the same setting with wm6.0.
Hobbs - I'm having the same exact problem with 6.1 and Exchange 2007. As soon as I upgraded my i760 to 6.1 i get the 0x85010015 sync error. Today one of our users got a Treo 850 w/ 6.1 and we are getting the same error. Anyone using 6.0 or below is fine.
I went round and round with Verizon and they were no help. Guessing I'll have to take this issue up with Microsoft.

Ringtone problem seems to be fixed with SPB Mobile Shell Update 2.1.1 released 7/31/08 by SPB. The website specifically lists 6.1 compatibility, but the update history doesn't list this as a specific problem. Other minor fixes that are real improvements.
FWIW, added SPB Backup which really takes the headache out of hard resets.

Weird... mine went the other way: WM6 had that problem a LOT but WM6.1 hasn't done it once. Perhaps there's a setting that's changed or changed it's significance on the server or the PPC? One that's gone well for me and badly for you?
I have had problems with both 6.0 and 6.1. All of a sudden, I start getting the certificate error. Than, after a few hours, it starts to work again. Then, a day or two later, it happens again. I have TyTN II with 6.1 and it never fails. I am wondering if it is someting with "the network".

Can anyone give a definitive anwser one way or another on the following:
This assumes that you have upgraded to WM6.1:
- Does the included Samsung Time plug-in for the home screen still have a memory leak?
- Does the freeware version of said Samsung Time plug-in have the same memory leak?
I'm not planning on using it long term, but it'd still be nice to know one way or another, short term.
Thanks.
I can't tell you for certain whether the memory leak was fixed because I did not get a chance to do any qualitative testing. However, I think it might have been fixed because in the few days I ran WM 6.1 naked, I did not notice any significant decrease in free program memory.
Right now, I'm busy testing a 3G iPhone so I won't have much time to play with the i760 for the next 3 weeks or so.

I got so tired of deleting/re-creating partnerships to allow sync between 2 computers (no exchange/server/etc.) like b4 upgrade to 6.1 and like awshouse got no help from vzw. Spent 2 HOURS on phone w/level 3 support at Samsung.
No help! Does anyone have any suggestions?
I'm hating this!!!

As for the certificate error, I am getting that even though I have installed my corporate certificate that I was sent. I have 6.1 running on an AT&T (TyTN II) and on this Samsung i760. The AT&T network allows me to work with the Exchange Server with no errors. It is only on the VXW phone that I have this issue. At first, I thought it was the network itself, but then I tried it with WiFi and turned the phone off. That did not help, the same error was thrown, so that means it is something else. Then I deleted the exchange server information from my phone so that there was no parnership with the server. Then I pulled out the battery for about 30 seconds (not sure this is important, but it was one of the steps I did to make sure the memory was totally washed). Then I restarted the phone and reinstalled the certificate since it was deleted when the partnership was deleted. Then I set up the exchange partnership again, but this time, I put in a bogus password. The thing tried to sync and then threw a bad password message. I fixed that and, voila --- it worked. Without the certificate, forget it. I simply would not work.
Hope this works for someone other then me.

With 6.0 and 6.1 i was having real bad problems with dialer skins. i cant remember the one i had at the moment but i wasnt able to uninstall it, i had to do a hard reset to get rid of it. once i got rid of it alot of my problems were resolved. i could never figure it out cause every time i hard reset the dialer skin was the first thing i put back on the phone.
all the problems on here about evo sounds a little to coincidental. i do not have a data plan and have removed the password so that the data plan would not be used. my home and job both have wifi so thats all i use, and i have zero problems. try turning evo off then putting the phone in sleep mode and try waking it up.
i have quit using all 3rd party apps just cause i can not find one to work. everyone i have installed seperatey with nothing else installed with it. played with it, configured to how i would want it and then i uninstall cause it just doesnt perform like i want it to. actually i do waetherbug app installed to show on my today screen,it updates when my wifi turns on and keeps the last known weather on screen, so it works for me.
the one program i do not like on 6.1 is picsel. i really never played with it on 6.0 but i have turned it on a few times and turned off after the 3rd page tried to upload and says it ran out of memory.
Anyone having issues with the new PIE? I have the zoom level set to smallest, I can't stand the formatting any other way. But using PIE it locks up a lot. I notice my memory droping to roughly 8MB on my phone. I think it is because of my two email accounts I have setup for pull imap. No exchange. Activesync alone drags my memory and phone to a crawl.
I tweaked a bit using memmaid to help a lot but it still locks up that I need a soft reset. Sometimes on the today page as well. I only have Phonealarm and Pocket Informant on the today page, other than owner info. At times I have to use memmaid to reclaim some lost memory.
I am thinking I might have to backup and reload a program at a time or run without for a while.
When I do notice IE locking up I do notice the EVDO indicator goes grey like it lost signal but I am at full bars. I can't stand the quality of signal indoors now too.
I almost wish I never upgraded to 6.1 at all. Almost tempting to buy a new phone with no 6.1 and do a ESN swap.

I did the WM 6.1 upgrade Friday night. I didn't have any problems with the installation, especially with the tips found in this forum.
Following the installation I reinstalled the following:
-SPB Mobile Shell
-SPB Phone Suite
-SPB Dairy
-SPB Pocket Plus
-SPB Time
-SPB Insight
-SPB GPRS Monitor
-Slingplayer Mobile
-Garmin Mobile XT
Everything seemed fine after reinstalling all that stuff until I realized Monday night that I wasn't receiving text messages. Occasionally I would get a notification of a message but wouldn't see it once I opened messaging.
I did a hard reset last night, reinstalled everything except Phone Suite, testing texting after each install. Everything was fine.
I haven't reinstalled Phone Suite because I suspect it's the culprit. I've since purchased SPB Backup, backed up my phone after last night and will try installing PS tonight to see if it breaks texting. I suspect it will.
PS is the one app that I could tell interacted with SMS, and SMS changes were a big part of the 6.1 upgrade so it wasn't a stretch to assume PS as the culprit.
I reinstalled Phone Suite after taking another backup. Everything works fine now, so now I have no idea of what to make of the SMS problem I had since the 6.1 upgrade and reinstall of all my apps.
I use Code City CityTime Alarm, which I really like, but I've found since upgrading it creates an abnormally high amount of notifications. Since 7AM this morning I'm up to just under 3000 and that's with no alarms set! In WM6 I used MemMaid and it did a great job at auto-clearing the duplicate and expired notifications every morning, and whenever I reset the phone.
With WM6.1, CityTime creates many more notifications than it did in WM6, so many that when I do a soft reset MemMaid does not have time to start and my phone locks up. It makes it a real pain getting your phone back to a normal working condition. MemMaid also will not auto-clean with CityTime installed.
I've now removed MemMaid and use SKTools. Seems to do a much better job at removing the notifications, but even though I schedule and auto-clean every morning they just build right back up. Now doing a soft reset with a high amount of notifications normally means having to do it twice to get to the Today screen.
Any way around this or is it mean that I need to find another alarm for my phone? Anything comparable that's compatible with 6.1?
---------------------
Problem solved...I deleted CityTime Alarm and installed pTravelAlarm. pTravel works great, can play mp3's as an alarm and my notifications now remain at less than 15 at all times. Both MemMaid and SKTools work fine with it.
