As gbalan noted in this post from another thread, it appears that the phone now automatically updates for the correct time zone (except for Arizonans who haven't figured out Daylight Savings Time).
I haven't tried travelling to another time zone yet, but I was surprised when I started the phone after the upgrade and the clock was set to the correct timezone. Every time I had hard reset in 6.0, it defaulted to Eastern and I had to change it. Can anyone else confirm that driving to another time zone automatically updates now?
I'll be travelling to Columbus, OH on business this Sunday morning. I will let you guys know if the time zone changes automatically (unless someone posts the answer first).
Curious....what wireless A/P are you trying to connect to? After upgrading to 6.1 I can't connect to my wifi at home, which is a Linksys. However I have no problem connecting to my wifi at work, which is a Proxim.
Standard WRT54g...no ddwrt on it yet.
Havent tried other networks yet....
maybe it doenst work with linksys crap anymore.
go columbus!

Ok.. this is even better with the Threaded SMS. I sent an SMS, and the recipient called back and left a Voicemail. Now since i'm using CallWave (free) it translates the voicemail to Text and sends it (the translated text) via SMS to me and its in the proper thread.
now that's awesome.
It through me off at first too, but this is an excellent feature that I didn't know we would get. My only issue with the threaded SMS is that it is not as clean as the Palm version that I was using before, but I will gladly accept the current style and not install another 3rd party application.
Also, getting emails from callwave with the WAV files is great too.
not really a software bug but a "Bugs me" item is the annoying "Sent from My Windows Mobile (r) Phone" in the email signature.
Anyone know how I can turn this off so i dont have to manaully delete it everytime? I dont want people to know if i am in the office or on the golf course.
You can control your email sig in the messaging app options. With your inbox displayed (or any email folder for that matter), select Menu/Tools/Options and then the Signatures button.
i dont know if the wireles question has been answered yet since im only on page 3, but i found i had to go to my router and select add new device and then it gave me a NEW encryp key to use, then it worked fine. my works wifi works just as well, it came on right when i showed up this morning
I haven't seen a definitive answer for my questions in the numerous 6.1 links. Does the 6.1 upgrade fix the memory leak problem? Also, any problems with phoneAlarm version 2? Thanks.
OK, I'm answering my own question! . I read iProb8's responses about the memory leak this morning, so thanks for that. I upgraded and re-installed phoneAlarm v.2 and have had no problems so far.
The automatic time and time zone change features do work. I traveled this weekend and tried it out. However, when you arrive in the new time zone it moves all of your appointments. This is/was a problem for me. As an example, I put an appointment in my calendar for my flight home at say 12:10 pm. I input this appointment while in my home time zone. Now when I get off the plane in the new time zone, the clock changes accordingly, the appointment now says my flight is at 1:10. (this was the reasoning all along that pdas don't switch time zones automatically, I believe.) So, I either have to input my appointments knowing they will change, or turn off automatic switching and do the math in my head.
One way i got around it this weekend, was to use a feature of SPB Time. With Time I can change the time displayed on the screen to whatever city I chose, but it doesn't change the time in Windows. So, my home screen has the correct local time and my appointments have not moved.

I use the timezone feature of Outlook to input my scheduled flights (appointments) when entering them at my desktop. They then show the correct times when I switch to a "visting" timezone (now automatic). For my 760, I use PocketInformant, which also has a timezone selection for new appointments. It works for me, but I understand the automatic switching can cause problems, depending on how you normally enter appointments.

I think from my experience, what you have described is not a New "Bug" and has been around (since the phone came out).
Yes it was the case before. Mine never automatically switched before, so I guess I was confirming it automatically switches, but reiterating that you would still have appointments moving about.

I set in Phonealarm, to update time zone per cell tower. I can confirm it works. I was in St Louis yesterday, now in Norfolk, VA, and the time now reflects EST.
I've upgraded but it appears that I am no longer able to send and receive text messages. Or rather, I can send them but I cannot receive them. At first I wasn't able to send or receive texts, then I did a *228 on my phone and it worked for a bit but now my girlfriend has texted me twice and the phone hasn't picked it up. Also the notifications say I have 3 sms messages but I only see the one I just sent in my inbox. I'm going to try re-flashing.
