I restored it from my backup with WM6. Was that a bad idea? It seemed like a good idea so I wouldn't have to reset all the email and settings. But now my phone seems to have slowed down a little while everybody elses is going faster. Is an uninstall of all SPB programs in order or a hard reset and reload of 6.1 necessary?
I'm not sure if what I did had any impact, but I thought it was a safer way to go. You might want to try and remove one SPB software at a time, do a soft reboot after each removal and see how it operates. If you notice an improvement, then you found the source. Then I would reload that software from scratch. Start with the ones that will disrupt you the least. Some of their software may not be as compatible with 6.1 as it was with 6.0. I only have SPB pocketplus and Backup. The other software is from other vendors and they all work fine. Just wish SKYPE could work with 6.1. They haven't made a patch for 6.1 and this has been known problem since before the 1st of the year.

Just to clarify something on the youtube videos. i am using skunkworks flashvideo bundle. When i try playing videos with that software i get crash.exe error. when i try with all the software removed just using windows 6.1 nothing happens i click on watch video and nothing. anyone else not able to play youtube videos at all? any suggestions. and yes i am using mobile version of youtube
Youre doubling the flash thats already present in the ROM, thats why I think its messed up man. Sounds like you may have to hard reset because it messed with the already present flash.
Just a quick question... If i was going to upgrade, can i still do the replacing the pim.vol to restore my contacts after upgrading to 6.1? I'm just worried about losing my contacts... T_T Thanks in Advance!
You probably could do that but just to be safe why don't you just sync the contacts with your computer so that you don't have to worry about them?
3? I have 1. In landscape mode , the button that is located in the top left hand corner and resembles an envelope. Push it and tell me what happens. On my stock i760 with WM6 and now with WM 6.1, it gives me, (and others) a shortcut error. I have to remap that button using AEButton plus.
Even in 6.0, that button used to occasionally come unmapped and give that shortcut error. It happened to me and others. The solution was to just go remap it with the normal Windows button settings, and it would go back to working fine, no AEB+ needed (although it is a great program.) Have you tried just remapping with the standard WinMo button mapping app under settings-->Buttons-->Button 3?

Fortunatley mine is STILL working fine after the upgrade.
I'm not sure if this is necessarily a "fix" or a result of a relatively fresh system, but I'm no longer having the issue where using the keyboard would always result in missed letters. Before I would have to type very slowly to ensure that it was registering every letter. Now it seems I can type at a normal speed and not miss any letters. Has anyone else noticed this too?
Yessss, I noticed this too. That was the ultimate annoyance for me in 6.0. Now I can type fast without worrying about a key not sending.
Another successful WM6.1 upgrade on my end. Things seem to run much smoother/better. do notice a few new things. I have 1 question though, is there another piece of sotware like tman and batti that'll work on WM6.1? i can't seem to get them to work after the upgrade.
SKYPE no longer works with 6.1. Have to use fring instead. After upgrade I did the *228 and that seemed to work. But I could not send and recieve calls or SMS. When I tried to make a call i got the message that Verizon could not authenticate the phone, so I had to call the number in the message. Person on the other end was confused why it stopped after I have had it for a few months. I told him about the 6.1 upgrade. He did a few things and now it's working.
One thing that is missing that I liked with 6.0 is seeing what programs were running when tabbing on Start-Settings-System-Memory. There use to be 3 tabs...Main...Storage Card...Running programs. Now only the first 2.
Hello there - long time reader, first time poster (and thanks to everyone for your excellent advice and resources thus far)
I have read through every post about 6.1 for a few days now and am still unsure whether I should upgrade or not. I am not the original owner of my phone (got it in a trade + cash deal) and do not have access to the original documentation of sale, warranty, etc...
That being said, my question is, what are the risks that upgrading to 6.1 will kill my phone? Seems to have happened more than once just in this community. And is 6.1 good enough that it's worth the risk? (elimination of third party software is always a benefit in my book, + threaded sms and the faster typing due to no missed letters...).
Anyways, just thought it was time I sought expert advice before I attempted an upgrade. I do use SPB programs but with the exception of some P+ stuff, it's mostly for novelty and convenience so I could live without them for awhile.
Thanks in advance and for the all the resources I've used in the past without posting thanks
