I have had 6.1 on my TyTN II for well over a month. Not a lot of diffence between it and the i760 OS except it is much more stable. But since I have no idea what VZW actually removes from the OS, I am not sure it is worth while. Also, those who think this is downloadable over the air, forget it. This is a full OS upgrade, not an update.

For what it's worth I just happened to wander in to VZ today to replace my shredded case....unaware of this thread I asked if any patches were in the offing...one of the service reps responded that on his corporate email he received word of a "major software update" to arrive in mid April...he mentioned that issues with bluetooth and the browser were being dealt with...

I wouldn't say I've been missing it Bob.
Verizon already announced BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) will be out in 4q of this year, and verizon won the auction for the bandwidth the fcc auctioned off. One provision of the auction was that whoever won had to open up their network to devices from other carriers. (Hence the reason Verizon announced BYOD a few months before they won the auction) They knew they wanted the bandwidth, and I bet they would have paid double what they ended up paying.
Verizon doesn't have to give us cool new phones after this year. Go buy a verizon approved phone on amazon or ebay or anywhere else and bring it with you.
Is this true?? You said it one day before April fools..no I havent finished reading the thread yet.
Hey guys... I just got my i760 about a month ago and have been following the forums since then. However, I felt I should register and share what I was told today.
I emailed VZW about the fact that I bought a i760 and was disappointed with the amount of issues it has (specifically bluetooth related) and that I was recently informed that some or all of my issues may have been resolved in WM 6.1. I ended it with a flat out question "When will you provide i760 customers with WM 6.1?". To my surprise I didn't get an email but an actual phone call from VZW customer support less than two hours later. The guy explained that he did do some internal research and was calling to assure me that once they test it to ensure stability it WILL be released and a link will exist on their website to download the update once they clear it. He initially wouldn't give a ETA but when I said "So in the next 3-6 months?" he immediately said "Oh No, I'd expect it in alot less than that... say a month, month and a half at the most."
So, take it as it is... just a short phone conversation but it did as they indended and I'll patiently wait a month or so for this to come out...

yah, they told me 4 months ago they were going to release VZN Navigator for the i760 in just a few days from then.
I will believe it when I have it on my phone in my hot, huge hands.
So when we update to 6.1, will it wipe our phones clean? Will we have to reinstall everything? Or will it just upgrade the OS? And, for that matter, will things we've downloaded be compatible with 6.1? Sorry, these are probably stupid questions, but I've never done that before. Thanks in advance.

You will have to reinstall your sw again.
If you use Outlook and active sycn it is just a new sync and your done.
I would wait to see what VZW screws up .......I mean fix before you try it out. There will be no way to go back to what you have now.

I just changed the title of this thread to reflect that it is discussion of rumors as to when WM 6.1 will be released for the i760. I'm also making this thread a sticky so it's easier to find. Once WM 6.1 has actually been released (if it is ultimately released), I'll probably close the thread and un-sticky it.

The "Multiple Bluetooth devices not auto reconnecting thread" is (mostly) about the problem documented in that thread title - auto reconnecting for multiple BT devices supporting HandsFree protocol. One post indicated that Samsung was working on a fix for this problem and maybe some other fixes. This resulted in a new thread "Possible Samsung BT Patch for 760" dedicated to this Samsung originated fix. Now we have this new thread where some posts seem to indicate that WM 6.1 will solve the Bluetooth autoconnect issue. So, what is really going to happen? Is the rumored Samsung fix 6.0 or 6.1 dependent? Is Verizon integrating Samsung updates with WM 6.1? Will I have to choose between fixing the Bluetooth issue with a Samsung patch or rolling to 6.1? Sounds like there may be multiple parties mucking around in the same (or at least related) code. Are their dark skies or blue(tooth) skies ahead?
My understanding was that the BT issue was unique to the i760 and had nothing to do with WM6. Thus, Samsung was working on a patch/fix for the i760, and the WM6.1 has no relevance to the BT issue described in the Multiple Bluetooth devices not auto reconnecting thread. However, my understanding could definitely be wrong (just don't tell my wife I actually admitted the possibility that I might be wrong--she'll never let me live it down )

It could be they don't want to release the bluetooth fix within the WM6.1 update. It would make sense to me, because otherwise I think they'd have to release a bluetooth fix for 6.0 and 6.1. This also reduces testing time, coz they'd only have to test the first with 6.1 and not 6.0
