Can we get an official i760 update thread, it's no longer a rumor.

I tried to go into the youtube page to watch a video, but it still gives me the same error as always that flash player isn't installed or isn't the latest version. How is it that all of you guys are getting them to play?

I can get it to play through the youtube-mobile site where WMP runs it, but it doesn't play through the regular youtube-desktop version. Is this what everyone else is getting? or are you also able to watch them through the regular desktop version?

Do you have antivirus/firewall turned off? Is that port being protected by your PC?

No, I'm trying that now.. I just assumed because the first 70% gets done it wouldn't be an issue... but you know what they say about people who assume.

UPDATE: No, still failed... Gonna try it on another XP machine.

2ND UPDATE: Went to a fresh computer with no ActiveSync or modem drivers... Installed AS, let the updater install the modem drivers... still failed at the phone part... I've got 6.1, but stuck with the old phone version... gross.

Old Version ce os 5.2.979 bd 17233.0.1
When updated everything went smooth till the end when I got an error which said:
port open failed error message but screen shown is 6.1 on boot

New Version ce os 5.2.19202 bd 19202.1.0.0

Updates I think I have noticed
Bluetooth Pairing is automatic doesn't ask for a passcode (unless you have a custom on set)
Customer Feedback to send usage data back to microsoft
Getting Started directions added instead of help
Remote Desktop Mobile included by default
Task Manager changes to show CPU usage and it appears to show all running processes not just programs
OneNOte Mobile added to the Office Mobile Programs
Automatic detection of Exchange Server Settings
Overall Performance seems to have improved a bit, a lot less waiting for programs to open (this may just be due to the reset of my device, but I have done the reset before and I could sware it took me longer in the past to reload everything)

more will come as I continue to play

Can you restore a backup?

I back up my device with Sprite Backup. Can anyone tell me...

Once you install the update to 6.1, can you execute a restore point to get all your installed apps and data back, or do you have to start from scratch?

A couple of questions for the group:

1 - How long does the process take
2 - Has anybody bricked their phone by trying this or is there a recovery procedure?

BINGO! Finally got the phone part to update. I did three things and one of those three must have done it. (I tried about 10 times before it finally got past the phone part.)

I did a *228 option 2, unplugged the desktop I was using from the network, and removed the microSD card. Somebody had mentioned removing the SD card earlier so I don't know if that is what finally got it to work, but if so, thanks!

The phone version now follows the new software version..

S/W Version
Old 6.0 PDA: i760.07 V.AH08.17233
New 6.1 PDA:i760.07 V.BD14.19202
Old 6.0 Phone: V.AH08
New 6.1 Phone: V.BD14
Old 6.0 Eboot 1.00
New 6.1 Eboot 2.00

The phone part is the one to check, the device can get the software update to 6.1 without the phone getting an update.

About 15 minutes, with all of the resets...I didn't brick my phone, I don't know about anyone else.

Yup. I'm going to close this thread, unsticky it, and start a new one.
