Off the bat I really like the threaded sms... it even asks you if you'd like to resend when it fails (this happens often for me, almost no service in my house).

well, I'm off for now. Have fun everyone!

Hi all! I just happened to find this Forum this morning while I was looking for Threaded SMS applications. I was fairly positive that Verizon was never going to come out with a 6.1 solution for us, so started examining other options. And what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a 6.1 upgrade! Thanks to everyone for being so diligent and keeping your eyes and ears open!

I have one quick question before I attempt the upgrade. Would it matter if I have the storage card in or out during the upgrade process? The reason I ask is that I have my backups stored on my Storage Card and I don't want to lose those should the update fail on me.

On prior phones, I've always done the update with the storage card removed. Not sure if it matters or not, just my method. I then re-insert the storage card cuz it has all of my add-ons...much easier to install from there. I haven't actually done this update yet...just lurking and watching oh-so-closely!

What you may want to do is, if you have an Exchange config, completely un-do that first, especially if you are storing the attachments on the SD (I do), and erase them from the SD. I don't really know if it matters much, but I know that one time when I master reset this phone without first doing that I wound up with double attachments on the SD card (different folders).

My update finally succeeded and it shows 6.1. I just tested the bluetooth and it still will not reconnect to another device without rechecking the handsfree box. Any of you guys seeing anything different?

Mine appears to be a 2-step process--
started off with:
s/w version
pda i760.07.bc04.17233
phone i760.07.bc04

"Upgrade Stopped" message requesting that I reset the phone and re-start the upgrade process (I forget at what percentage mark this occurred).

Restarted the phone. I restarted the Upgrade tool. Detection did not go smoothly, so I canceled the upgrade.

I saw the Win Mobile 6.1 splash screen, I calibrated the touchscreen, and I checked versioning: the pda version had changed but phone version did not:
pda: i760.07 v.bd14:19202
phone i760.07.bc04

I then allowed ActiveSync to sync w. the device and then re-started the upgrade. Detection went well and upgrade proceeded properly to 100%.

"Upgrade completed"
pda: i760.07 v.bd14:19202
phone: i760.07 v.bd14

No, it will not effect your mobile office suite at all.

I just performed the full updated as stated on the website and didn't have any problems at all! The phone even booted up into Windows Mobile 6.1! The sad thing to me is that I really don't notice any differences... What happened to the cool new Today Screen that has been advertised everywhere? I do now have Threaded Messaging which is very cool, but is this the only real new advantage to WM 6.1 besides GP?

Mine went in one step... but 3 resets, (as indicated on screen).
One that was done. It now says WM 6.1
Also my SW version page is a little different... maybe cause my phone was one of the first ones.

S/W Version
PDA: S:i760.07 V.BD14.19202
Phone: S:i760.07 V.AH08
eboot: 02.00

What else should I see now that it is wm6.1?

THANKS for all those who posted before this... it gave me the confidence to try the upgrade!!

THANKS
PaulG

Thanks for the quick reply drkstoner - makes sense. Everything else is working great! Just follow the directions exactly as Samsung lays them out.

Thank you so much whoever discovered this!!! I've been checking this forum every day for the past few months and have finally been rewarded

The only difference I see is that there is now an icon for Task Manager instead of having to go to the pesky memory icon. So far not noticing anything exciting.

I am seeing that as well. I updated ok, even though that last screen said it failed and asked to reset and start all over. Version check says:

PDA: S:i760.07 V.BD14.19202
Phone: S:i760.07 V.BD14
Eboot: 02.00

H/W Version H:i760.07 V.Q
PRL/ERI P:51056 E:00004
Bluetooth Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR
Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11b/g

Also...!!! Just found out that we don't need a hack to get 4GB microSD cards to work anymore! My 4GB card works perfect with no hacks! Not sure if it will accept even bigger cards, as 4 GB is all I got. Phone says 3902.00 MB of total storage card memory.

Quick question. Does this wipe whatever you installed previously? I mean, will this essentially flash your phone back to factory fresh status, but with 6.1 instead of 6.0?
