If it's anything like the Q update process, it can be quite hairy. I remember that I had to do many special things to get that device to successfully update...including battery pops and a special set of hotkeys to force it into bootloaded mode again. Have no idea what those hotkeys are for the i760...or if they even exist.
After getting a bunch of errors such as PDA UPDATE FAIL, PHONE UPDATE FAIL, etc.... I tried going into emergency mode (CLR+RIGHT, reset) and the phone boots again. phew!
call me stupid, but I'm about to try updating again. maybe I should follow the guide this time?
While I didn't actually do anything wrong the first time, I RTFM and now the update is actually working (ps, you'll see a cool samsung update screen you never have before!)
It says it'll be done in 10 minutes.

I'm done. It seems to have updated just fine. I guess I will be spending the evening reloading everything. One thing though, it still says Windows Mobile 6 in the about page. Not 6.1. What's up with that? Build 17233.0.1.1
gary, did you have the new samsung boot screen after you updated? Also, right away the setup (touchscreen calibration, etc) routine had 6.1 mentioned on it.

Zach -- interesting...hopefully just a typo on the manual page. Could be...since we are all actually jumping the gun here...it's barely early morning in South Korea! It might be wise for us to re-find the manual pages and see what they say later on.
But, if I had to judge -- I'd call your update a SUCCESS!!!!
I'd call my update a success, considering that I have all the WM6.1 stuff now! Haven't tried out bluetooth yet, but wifi connections and the overall devices speed seems better to me. Could just be my excitement though.
I tried running the update again and the bootloader screamed at me something like CANNOT REINSTALL. RESET!, so it's official.
HEHE!! I hope that the improvements are not just the excitement. Give it the critical "live with it" tests and let us know. Some veeerrrrryyyyy interested people out here hoping for true improvements!
