Sorry to say,*228 won't bring an OS upgrade now or ever. when / if it ever comes, it will be an installer from your PC

So I just returned from the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference where I talked to the Windows Mobile Team. I went by their booth three times and talked to three different people. The three different answers that I got to my 6.1 update question:

First day: Oh, sure: that's the Samsung i760. The 6.1 update was just made available. Go check the website for the download. (I checked, it wasn't available)

Second day: Depends on the carrier. Moto has flashed some of the Microsoft team's personal devices on request. Don't know about Verizon.

Third day: Found a Microsoft Windows Mobile team member that actually uses the i760 as his personal phone. (Now we are getting somewhere!) He said that he'd heard an update was in testing at Verizon but had no other info.

Yeah, consider me optimistic if you'd like, but I strongly believe it will be available...when? I have no idea, maybe in december when I'm ready for NE2 but I'm sure they are doing there crippling and testing........

Maybe the slide saying windows mobile 6.1 for our phone was when they were receiving it...maybe they just got it in June and just started testing. Who knows.

It's Official, the links aren't working yet but it has plenty of screen shots and how to perform the update.

Oddly...I cannot get this information to come up independently within the "My Samsung" site (to which I have registered my i760)...

Looks like VZW is finally gaetting with the PPC age. The VZWStart page now has fully compatible links and Downloads for ALL their PPC's including the i760. I'll update the ROM thread once I have a chance to get to my PC. I'll also update here when I have a working VZW supplied WM6.1 upgrade. FYI- The previously posted link for this upgrade looks alot like the official link for the BlackJackII upgrade. So I'd feel pretty safe in saying that this could be the legit golden ticket to the i760 WM6.1 upgrade. Anyways, I'll report back tonight.

Is there any way that we could get the file by finding out their FTP or HTTP server. Perhaps find a link for a different file and change the filename. We already know the correct file name, so somebody just has to find it. The file name is "SCH-i760 WM 6_1 Upgrade_Tool_For_Vista.exe"

Note that there IS a directory now (there wasn't earlier today I believe) at https://techtrain.samsungwireless.co...oads/vzw_i760/
although we can't see the contents. This is where the update file will be.

Anyone wanna guess at the filename? I tried the filename listed on the other page but it doesn't work/isn't there yet.

sitting on my desktop. I plan to try it this evening.

Guys you may want to wait... update just failed on me, stuck in bootloader mode trying to get it to update.

edit: note that it failed immediately, so I was able to reset with a CLR+RIGHT+RESET emergency mode reset and my phone still worked.
