I am really getting desperate, my free trial of PDAnet expired and i need to connect. I want the fastest possible and the ISCcab file seams the best but I can only get a local-only connection
Please help I need to use this in a day or so on the road and really dont want to waste $35 on pdanet if this way is faster/beter.
I use my i760 everyday for tethering to my laptop. It kinda sucks as you can't use the phone and the internet at the same time. What i've found is that if your ICS doesn't install properly, you won't know (no warning). Best case, de-install ICS, soft boot, install ICS, (DON"T OPEN ICS YET), soft boot, then open ICS, click connect, and connect your USB cable.
NOTE: The dock cable DOES NOT work with this. It needs to be a direct USB cable. It could possible be your version of the ICS install cab, so if you need PM me and I'll send you the one I use (and confirmed to work without any reg hacks or whatever.)

I use PDA Net and can use the phone at the same time I am connected to my laptop. You have to be using EVDO for this, 1X does not have this capability. I use the USB cable that also charges the phone.
I just tried using ICS and it works with no problem. I did a speed test and am getting about 500kbs download and 125kbs upload. Not too bad for free internet with my data plan and it was very cloudy and raining outside.
I was also able to recieve text messages while connected,
I'm soooo close to getting this to work, but not close enough.
Right now, I connect my phone (samsung i760) to my eee pc (running xp) via usb. Then I start up the wmwifirouter software, and tell it to connect cell to usb. Phone says its all connected, eee pc shows the network is connected, but I cannot hit any web pages, cannot ping any web sites, nor can i ping 192.168.0.1.
So far I have:
installed wmwifirouter software
installed the ics software (shows as intshrui on my menu)
have hard coded my network settings trying 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.1.2
I'm not going to bother reading all 5 pages of this thread, i'm just going to comment. I played around with wmwifirouter for a long time to no avail. Then I tried PDANet and within 1 day of tinkering I had wired and wireless tethering working perfectly. Sure it's not free but sometimes you get what you pay for.

Am I missing something?
Thanks
I always found their tech support very helpful, though can be slow via email. However, my first case with them was over the weekend and they responded on a Sunday.

I gave them since my post, no reply. I just uninstalled it and w/in a few mins had PdaNet downloaded, installed, and connected 1st try.
Of course it doesn't setup the phone as a wi-fi router, so it's only good to connect the phone itself to one PC via usb, but it's easy, quick, and works
Here's what I did to install it:
1. Install the USB Modem Driver software from Samsung to your computer
2. Place the ICSInstall.cab file on your i760 memory (not the storage card) and install to the device from there.
3. Do a Soft-Reset
To get it working:
1. Plug in your i760 to the computer via USB
(On your PC you should now have a new Local Area Connection in your Network Connections that uses the Windows Mobile-Based Device)
2. On your i760, open the IntShrUI application in the programs menu.
(Make sure the "PC Connection" option says "USB", and the "Network Connection" option says "Broadband Access")
3. Hit "Connect".
(The Active Sync should automatically disable itself, and after a few seconds the status on the IntShrUI program should change to "Check USB Cable Connection", and then eventually "Connected". You should also see the local area connection icon on your computers taskbar trying to connect and then connect.
Then it should be all set
Just tried this on my i-760 WM6.1 Tethered to WinXP PC. Works good but a little slow, I think the slow part is because I am in an area that has very little EV coverage.
Still a nice option for a pinch!
