You might start by Googling "PDAnet"

It uses "unlimited" data, if you have it...lots of discussion available about PDANet on this and the i730 forums, just search.

Click "Create a new connection" which should start the wizard on your pc.
Select connect to the internet, then setup my connection manually, then connect using a dial-up modem.

You need to use usbmodem.inf not modem.inf

Yes, that is the one I'm trying, it was in the package you provided. My bad for dropping usb.

It's odd, the install craps out on me, the modem shows up in device manager but I can't do anything with it. I did have my Q tethered on this laptop before. I'm going to uninstall VZAccess and give it another try.

Is it possible to tether the i760 via BT?
I did that with my Q and it worked great. It should work with the i760 also.

This may be obvious... but.. if you pay verizon $15 per month to be able to tether, do you still have to pay them $45 per month for the high speed version (#777), rather than per kb?

Also.. does #7772 still work on the phone itself (the sloooww internet, but free)?

Thanks

Part of the WMWiFiRouter install is to install the Internet Sharing application that was originally part of WM6 (not included in the i760 from Verizon for whatever reason). With IntShrUI on the phone, you can tether via USB or BlueTooth Modem. WMWiFiRouter takes this one step further and ties it to WiFi. I've enjoyed being able to use the USB tether as much as the WiFi config.

I've found it to be as good or better than PDAnet. I purchased PDANet when I had my i730 and used it at first with i760; but prefer Internet Sharing (via USB, BT, or WiFi) because it requires no installation on the PCs.

InterNet Sharing

So I've read every thread I can and still have the once basic question that I can't seem to definitively (at least in my mind) answer: If I install ICS cab, start the internet share application, will I be able to tether my laptop to my phone and enjoy the internet without having to pay the $15 to Verizon every month? Thanks in adance and I apologize if the answer is in these threads and I missed it.

i have tethered for years....first with my 730 and now with the 760....but let me tell you....nothing works like the wmwifirouter...it simply is amazing...that program rocks...I downloaded the cabs..followed the instructions and wambam....I have used it in meetings with people when there was no wifi available...we both connected to it at the same time...I have used it on my wifes macbook.....and i have used it in a park away from my office.....simply the best way to use your phone as a modem....plus no worry about a cord and accidental unplugging....I even uploaded my website to my hosting provider using this as my connection...no issues..no problems!! If you need a copy of the program let me know...I have a copy of it!

rynoondew, thanks for the glowing endorsement of wmwifirouter. I think I'll support the production version. Letting it age a little first, and for right now the tether solution works for me in the near term.

I understand from the eariler posts that the site that was hosting wmwifirouter is now down? I would really like to try this app out since rynoondew's glowing endorsement. Can you post a link to it? Or can I PM you with my email address to send to me?

Thanks

Jonathan

ICS Installed...now what?

Ok.....installed ICS. Start ICS on the phone, connect data cable to PC...nothing. PC (vista) has no Internet connection active. If I start IE on phone, it appears to be trying to obtain connection via PC. How do I reverse the flow (e.g. the PC looks for connectivity via the Phone)?
