problems with Vista

Somehow I got this working with Vista by manually adding a connection and switching something to AdHoc as suggested by someone here, but I have not been able to duplicate it. It worked once and I got disconnected by a call I could not get it to re-connect. Now when I try to use adhoc in Vista it tells me I have to used a fixed IP address. Does anyone know how to do this? I assume I would have to set this up in the wmwifirouter program on the i760 and enter the same number into Vista. And what number do I use? Do I also need to add all that subnet mask stuff as well? Has anyone done this?

I had issues getting it to work after i upgraded to 6.1, emailed with their tech support, they said it was supposed to be compatible. I frigged around with it, had better luck when I uninstalled their latest version and went back to version 1.11 with WM 6.1, still a little funky, but it would work.

any success getting WMWifiRouter to work with MacBook Pro?

I have successfully used WMWifiRouter for months with my Windows laptop.

I got a MacBook Pro a couple of weeks ago. When I run WMWifiRouter on my phone, the MacBook sees it as a wireless network, but will not connect to it ... it tries and then times out. However, strangely enough, if I connect to WMWifiRouter with my windows laptop AND THEN try to connect with the MacBook while the windows laptop is connected, the MacBook connects just fine. I can then power off my windows laptop, and everything works fine with the MacBook on WMWifiRouther until I end that session. But if I reboot the MacBook, same problem occurs. It will not connect to the WMWifiRouter again until I connect my windows laptop to WMWifiRouter first.

I have soft reset the i760 and retried -- no change. I have hard reset the i760 and reinstalled WMWifiRouter -- no change. Any ideas what is going on and what I might try in order to get the MacBook to connect on its own? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks a Million guys. I have been unable to get my Mac 10.5.6 to connect to my i760 via BT and uss it as a modem. However, a couple of house of playing around w/ the WiFi, it works great. The only thing I did different than install ICS and the WiFi app, was that I soft reset the 760 after all steps. When ever I changed everything, I rebooted both the 760 and my mac. Finally, it works flawlessly.

Thanks all!

i760 wmwifirouter

Im been reading up where ever I can on how to get this working. Mostly I end up reading about how to fix the problems that arise (worst being wifi and cell phone service was blocked) but im not able to get this working. ive downloaded the latest trial version of wifi router and im only getting as far as the ad hoc point being created but never connecting.

Has anyone come up with a sure fire way to get this working?

So far ive installed the ICS cab but I read you have to click ICSinstall.exe to patch it. Is this on the phone files? Its the only step im not able to do.

Appreciate any help. Dying to get the touch working on verizons data.

Thanks!
Alex

Smile Working via USB and ICS only

I tried the various installation instructions using the .91 version of WMWiFiRouter but could not get it to work. My laptop could see the connection and at one point got connected but only via USB connection. (which is all I really need for now equal to how I use PDANet).

I did a hard-reset to start over and decided to do one step at a time so I installed ICS from the copy I downloaded a few months back (not the one withing the .91 download) and did the soft-reset. I then connected to my laptop with ActiveSync 4.5 (already installed), fired up the connection via IntShrUI in the Programs group and disabled my wireless connection (to be sure I would not be using my in-house WiFi).

To my surprise, the phone connnected to the internet and my laptop opened a TCP/IP connection to the phone and I had internet access (again... via USB sync/charge cable).

I do not have WMWiFiRouter (any version) installed at this time.

So... if you're not overly concerned with getting on the internet via WiFi to your phone, this may work for you. I still want to do the WiFi setup but am happy to not use PDANet anymore for any of my computes/laptops.

It seems to me that the WMWiFiRouter software only permits connecting to ICS via 802.11b/g; I don't think it provides the "routing" part, but I could be wrong.

I'm trying to get WMWiFiRouter installed on my i760 so that I can connect to the adhoc network with my iPod Touch (Gen 2). I installed ICS from here. I then installed the trial version of WMWiFiRouter and setup the network.

I can see the network on my iPod Touch but cannot connect. One thing I've read is that it's best to have maximum performance on the wifi adapter but I don't see a setting for that in the i760. Not sure if that's what's causing the problem so any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Help!!

Greetings,

I found a locked sch-I760 series phone on my vacation and unfortunately could not retrieve it to the owner, as there was no contact numbers nor address. I've had it for a month now, and just thought maybe I could just put it to use.
Does any body have any ideas on how to do a password recovery on this phone?

Thanks for any feedback,
huise

Call Verizon or take it to a Verizon store. I am pretty sure they can identify the owner by ESN.

wongust,
I did take it to a verizon, and the agent said that there was no data or information on it to trace the owner. They even tried to find an account associated with the serial numbers.
But, they were very interested in asking me if I wanted to lease a contract with the phone....

I have been using WMWifiRouter for over two years on WM6.0. I love it. I just upgraded to WM6.1 to add Bluetooth DUN and WMWifiRouter v1.35 to add Bluetooth to cellular routing for a TomTom to utilize. I cannot get any wifi or BT routing to work now. Here is what I did.

I have a Samsung i760 on Verizon in the US. I upgraded from WM6.0 to WM6.1 to add Bluetooth DUN. I reloaded the old ICSInstall.cab. Soft reset. I installed WMWifiRouter v1.35. Soft reset. Neither Wifi or Bluetooth routing works. My WMWifiRouter log says:
IP::Routing -> Enabled – Success
IP::NAT -> Enabled – Fail
So I question my ICS install. I tried running IntShrUI from the Programs shortcut folder and I get the following error, “The file :MSINTERNET_SHARING cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstalling or restoring the file.”
When I run IntShrUI directly from the /Windows folder it runs but cannot connect and I get the following Windows error, “Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To change your connection settings, tap settings.”
I uninstalled ICSInstall.cab. soft reset. Reinstalled ICSInstall.cab to what I think is a newer version I found here.

soft reset. I got the exact same results as above. It looks like WMWifiRouter is running fine, but I cannot get a working install of ICS on WM6.1. Any advice?

I would suggest starting over and just work on getting ICS working. I have the latest 6.1 update installed and ICS works fine when initialized on the phone via the IntShrUI shortcut.

Once that is working, you can try doing the WiFiRouter stuff but, if like me and you plan to stay connected to your laptop via cable, that's all you need. (well, the laptop needs the Samsung modem driver and ActiveSync 4.5 too)

Using data on multiline account

Does anyone know if you can access the internet through a laptop using another numbers data plan. My boyfriend has 3 lines. His has unlimited data and mine doesn't. He's in Connecticut and I'm in Delaware so I don't have access to his phone. Can I use his line's data plan to get a laptop connection?

so, am I reading this correctly? I should be able to install this ICS s/w (from the link at the beginning of this big ol' thread) on my i760 (which is still WinMo 6.0), connect the phone and computer via the USB charge/sync cable and ... I should be able to get online? I'm just looking to be able to get to my email while traveling to a friends place with no 'net access.

thanks,

Yes, install the CAB (which verizon deleted, It is a basic part on Winmo)
And then connect via usb to 3G on the phone.
Works great!
