Yes! It happened to me. I got in touch with the developer and he helped me out he had to run a registry comparison on my phone from a clean version and the installed version. He did fix it for me and I went ahead and purchased the software to say thanks. He had mentioned that I was the first person to report this issue, kinda like he didn't believe the wmwifirouter caused it. If you haven't already, getin touch with him so he sees another i760 that is affected.

Sorry for the very late response, i guess I just kept missing this post.

Here's a new question for those to ponder. I have done a search with no luck.

I have successfully installed and gotten the wifirouter to work (used it several times). However, I have only gotten it to work on my PC (Windows XP OS) machines. I have an Asus EEE PC running the Linux Xandros OS and it will not connect to it. The laptop sees wifirouter in the wifi, but when I try to connect it runs through some scripts and then just sits there saying "pending". I don't think this is a wifirouter problem, but I'm curious if others have gotten it to work on Linux machines. I have another version of Linux on a USB I use on other laptops, but can't remember trying it on that one.

Any thoughts or guidance?

ICS & WM 6.1?

Has anyone resolved or devised a work around so ICS has worked on WM 6.1 for our phone?

Once I open the program I get this bubble message:

Cannot Connect:
Cannot connect for an unknown reason. To change your connections settings, tap settings. [Dismiss]

I know ICS was stripped from the 6.0 ROM, that why we have the ICS.cab to install independently. but It seems this .cab version is either non compatible with 6.1 or VZW/Microsoft has crippled WinMo not to use this app anymore.

It works for USB tethering. I followed the instructions in the "tethering" thread, and it worked fine under 6.1.

Clearly both of us are impatient

I had recently restored a backup and had to reinstall ICS and WMWifiRouter. I ran into the same "cannot connect blah blah" error which was odd because ICS was working fine before. so I restored again and this time followed the exact instructions and no problem. it seems that if you install the ics cab and open the ui without a soft reset this error occurs and will not clear unless you do a restore and reinstall + soft reboot. ps. caps and typos means I am on my phone.

I installed ICS and the last free version of WifiRouter without a problem on my newly upgraded phone. It works without problems.

I downloaded the new trial version of the wmwifirouter and installed it to my device but when I go to run the program and click trial, I get a fatal error/invalid license message.

Anyone else get this? I noticed a similar post a page or so ago but there wasn't a response.

Thanks,

John

I'm pretty sure the trial version isn't supposed to work, it's just so you can see how the GUI is. That's why you get the error when you try to connect, so you would have to buy it.

Ok, I took the leap. The latest purchased version (1.09 as of this writing) does work just fine with WM 6.1 on the i760. For me v1.05 would not install.

I have a feeling this is what's causing my WiFi issues. Do you know what the Reg entries were that were broken?

No. I'm not sure what registry entries I might be exposing. Sorry. Anyways, like I said earlier contact the delevolper, he needs to know this is occurring on the i760.

just another confirmation that with ICS cab and the 0.91 install of WMWIFIROUTER, it works flawlessly. It woul dbe nice to setup WEP and such but for what I need it for, it's not a big deal. I am not upgrading to 6.1 so I should be fine for a while. I don't see the need honestly. I use email, not SMS so I don't see any added benefit of resetting my phone and possibly making it a brick.

I have just upgraded to WM 6.1. Where do I find the correct ICS version?

Thanks.

Thanks to authors and all on this thread!

I finally got up and running with this on my 760. No manual edits to the registry.

I was having trouble and getting stuck at a 'Waiting for ICS'. I did a soft reset, ran the 'Crash Cleanup' in Options on WMWifiRouter, another soft reset, and finally got through to the successful status: 'Connected to <wifiname> Ready'.

Getting speeds between 100K and 700K.

You guys rock!

ICS is located at xda-developers - View Single Post - WMWifiRouter - v1.10 (August 13, 200 - v1.20 BETA 461 (August 19, 200

The free trial does work w/ the link. They want you to verify that the software does in fact work w/ your phone before you buy the license.

I have had no problems with the software and prefer it over the PDANET. I am getting about 500KB down off of my phone wireless router.

I just finished up the trial on my 6.1 phone with 1.10. After using it with my iPod Touch in my car (so I can do Pandora Radio), it's way worth the $30 cost of entry.
